Computer Techs Question about Shielded RJ45s |
Posted: 03 Mar 2022 05:17 PM PST Hello all, so Ive been working on setting some new antennas up at work and the boss has me using cat 6 STP and shielded RJ45s. For some reason I have the worse luck with the termination. I can terminate a regular cat 6 utp with no problem, but STP always gives me issues. In one case I had a cable finished and tested fine, and I could never get any network activity from my switch even though I knew the antenna was powered on. So I pulled out my 25ft patch that's utp and reg rj45s and the damn thing worked. So I cut of the shielded rj45s and retested and still fine. When I plugged it up, I got power and this time activity on the switch. So are shield rj45s worth trying to use? I mean I have the antenna going inside to a surge and then to the switch, so Im protected from surges. Any thoughts? Still alittle green on the hardware side. Many thanks [link] [comments] |
