Any perks in having a Samsung tv and phone?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 01:54 AM PST

I've got a galaxy s21 and have just moved out and need to get a tv. In my last place my roommate had a Samsung tv which was great, but there's an LG with slightly better ratings (and it's cheaper), so wanted to know whether there was any major reason to have get a Samsung? I know screenshare is one feature but can't you cast to most smart TVs anyway, at least for Spotify/YouTube/etc?

    Thanks!

Please Samsung, make blocking background location optional in battery saver settings.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 06:37 AM PST

As a delivery boy I often have my phone in my pocket and listen to navigation instructions (instead of keeping the screen on). This is undoable with battery saver on sadly, at least with google maps.

    Switching from Pixel to S21?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 06:01 AM PST

I've had Nexus and Pixel phones for the past 5 years or so and debating on switching to an S21 5G since it's currently $400 on Fi. Before that I had iPhones so this will be my first Samsung phone.

Anyone else switch from Pixel to Samsung? I don't have any issues with my 4a5g but just getting tired of feeling like I've had the same phone for years. Any advice or tips?

Never used a stylus, never needed one, never wanted one. I still don't. Should I wait for the 22 ultra or just stick to my 21 ultra on order?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 01:40 PM PST

I'm coming from an S8+ so either way, big upgrade.

I'm very very torn from this as I get answers from loyalists on both sides.

Completely valid arguments from both, I just don't know what to do here!

Sammobile is a pain in the ***

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 12:31 PM PST

    Hey everyone

Really frustrated with Sammobile at the moment. I enter the site, I press sign in, I then go on to firmware, select the firmware for the phone I need it for, then press fast download..........what I get a sign up page.

This problem came up a few years ago......then all I needed to do is go on to chrome and open a incognito mode and that worked.....that now doesn't work.....then my next fix was to download on a android phone and send the file to my laptop......this now doesn't work either......all they need to do is add a login button at the sign up bit.

Anybody have any ideas because I pay a gold subscription and I haven't been able to use it for about year now.

Recommendations for New Samsung Phone to get?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 10:44 AM PST

I saw someone else do it and I figured that we were in the same boat kind of so I figured I make a post too.

I currently own the Samsung Galaxy S9 and I'm looking to upgrade since it's been about four years since I've had this phone and it's not working as well anymore.

My mobile company is offering a deal for a free S20 Fan Edition, or allowing me to pay an extra $100-200 for another Samsung phone of my choosing. I'm just not exactly sure what I should be going for, and whether it would be worth it to pick over the free S20 Fan Edition.

I've been looking at Samsung's website and looking at the S20+ CPO, S21, S21+, S20 FE, and the specs for the S20 Ultra seem the best but I am not exactly sure about things like bugs and how it fairs well in utility.

At the moment, I'm a university student who usually uses my phone all the time for socials, university work, reading notes, small games, and a lot of youtube.

If anyone has any suggestions on which phone to consider, I would really appreciate it. I apologize if this does not belong in the thread, but I saw someone else post this so I figured I would give it a try. Thank you.

Google TV on Samsung Smart TV

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 04:29 AM PST

Do you think Google TV will ever be on a Samsung TV? Google and Samsung have collabed in the past.

How long can one realistically expect to hold onto a flagship phone.. Ie the s21+?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 06:17 AM PST

I've always been an owner of cheap sub 200 dollar phones. However, I've always had to replace them every year since either the battery tanks or I get malware or the screen cracks or water destroys it etc. Thanks to posters here I've had a "woah" Moment and realised buying an expensive flagship could actually be cost effective if held for a long term period. I've just found a deal here in India for an s21+ at around 765$ /675 euros and I can't see the s21 fe coming in much cheaper since the launch price here for the s20 fe was almost similar to this price, so I'm thinking I should take the plunge(the ultra is still nearly 1200 dollars here so it's way out of my budget).

So I'm finally thinking of leaving this budget phone rotation wheel I'm in and going premium. I would hold onto a phone for years on end if it lasted without issues so I have a few questions..

Considering it has an IP68 rating and gorilla Glass protection would I still need a case/cover to protect the back Or can I expect it to last the next 4 years or so without using one?

How much will the battery slow down from its 4800 mah capacity over 4 years?

Software updates and security updates are promised for 3 years and 4 years respectively. Considering I'm buying it nearly 1 year in is it correct that I can expect security updates until January end 2025? What happens after January 2025? Will I not be able to save passwords /financial details on the phone? Will it just turn into a brick?

Ideally id like to hold onto it until jan 2026 if possible so that it "replaces" 4 years of 200 dollar Android phones which would be a year longer than the security updates. . Would that be possible via some sort of sideloading of security updates etc/an antivirus software?

Thanks.. And apologies for the questions. This is the first time I'm considering going premium and I need to get over a huge mental block to do so (I've already posted a post about how I've accidentally entered the Samsung ecosystem with a tv, watch, tab and buds and I'm looking to complete it now)

    Cheers

    New s20fe.... No notification led!?!?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 09:32 AM PST

Hey guys, I just upgraded to an s20fe from my old s8, and so far so good... But after having an s8, s6, and s3 in the past, I've grown accustomed to that blinking notification light! What do I do now!?!?

Is the only way to have any sort of notification reminder the vibrate reminder, and having AOD turned always on ? Is there a way to have AOD notification badges on, but have no clock or battery % show up? What are you guys using for notification reminders now that the led is gone?

BF misleading advertisement for Tabs on Samsung Shop...

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 08:59 AM PST

    Hello everyone,

today i was totally going to buy the s7 FE 6Gb 128GB (SM-T733NZKEEUE) because in the main page (Samsung Shop ITALY), under the main advertise for BF, i saw the tab at 549€ with an EXTRA 20% using the promo code.

To my surprise the code wasn't working for my cart... i called the support and i was told that the tab was not involved in that discount.

So i ask... why the need to use this kind of misleading advertising?

S21 Ultra and S22 Ultra deals question

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 05:15 PM PST

If I buy S21 Ultra which I can get it for $950 including BF discount and student discount and if I plan on to buy S22 Ultra when it launches, what kind of pre-order or trade in deals should I expect considering your experience with past deals?

I am currently using Note 8 and really want to wait for S22 Ultra but my Note 8's battery life has gotten worse and for some weird reason my displays black colors looks kind of greyish now which makes watching content on my device even worse. My network carrier is TMobile so I was wondering if they will also offer some good trade in deals for S22 Ultra.

Note: I am not much familiar with these kind of deals in US so, I just was just wondering if it would be reasonable to buy S21 right now and then trade in for S22.

So I got a used Galaxy Z Flip from Amazon Warehouse Deals, it's pretty pristine but what else should I look for?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 07:47 PM PST

I'm a little antsy that even if it's factory reset, it could have malware or viruses, is that even possible?

Should I take the lte version of the GW4?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 12:48 AM PST

On one hand I might need the LTE function later on, on the other it's still pricier; but I'm thinking it's better to take something future proof.

On the other, the LTE version has horrible battery life, but it only talks about the battery life with cellular on. I assume turning off cellular would give similar battery life as the non-LTE.

Would I be right in my assumptions?

Bixby routines - Getting a manually started routine to end by itself

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 10:37 PM PST

I manually start a Bixby routine when I wake up in the morning that turns on wifi, AOD, mobile data and turns off DND. However when I start it, it keeps running in the background - I see the notification. I want this routine to just run as a flip and done. How do I get this routine end by itself without me having to stop it manually?

Galaxy z flip 3 for £680, worth the upgrade from A70?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 12:05 PM PST

Half tempted by this offer. Not too interested in s21. Could wait for s22 but i feel like the z flip 3 just looks cool, despite the battery drawbacks. May end up kicking myself 3 months down the line when the novelty wears off and I'm looking for a charger all the time...

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 01:10 PM PST

I'm looking for the unlocked bloatware free f926u1, best buy had this unlocked model in stock: SM-F926UZKEXAA

Is this the same unlocked model or does it have bloatware?

So, are we just okay with forced updates now?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 05:33 PM PST

Yes I've turned off autoupdates in developer options, yes they still give me an allowance of deferrals until the moment my phone touches a charger.

This is deeply upsetting, the only reason why I was with Samsung in the first place was because I was under the impression that it was the only phone platform that left you with a choice. Choice on UI options, choice on when to update, but this recent ONE UI 4.0, among all the others, proved both of these premises wrong.

I really hate this, it makes me feel the device I payed over a grand for is not my own 😔

Samsung Galaxy s21 Ultra in case that is necessary information

EDIT: If you are going to downvote, at least be bold enough to leave your reasoning, ty
