- I got myself an external ssd to usb c enclosure, but when i plug it in via the included usb c to usb a cable, it shows up empty. disk management reports the drive as having 0b storage (it should be 512gb), diskpart doesn't even recognize the drive. I don't mind wiping the sdd, i just need it to work
Posted: 28 Nov 2021 06:12 AM PST So I have a relatively good mid ranger rig with a 7200rpm HDD. The HDD is kinda fine but makes grinding noises you could say but often works fine. Sometimes it just gives up on me. I always optimise it and defrag it yet it gets slower than ever. In games like rainbow six, it loads up fast, but sometimes it takes long enough to get me kicked for long loading times even though nothings running in the background. What should I do? I don't have the money and time to get a SSD. I have run CCleaner millions of times yet no effect. Sincerely, A person [link] [comments]
Wifi occasionally disconnects for no reason! Help, i almost got ruined during my presentation. Posted: 28 Nov 2021 11:41 AM PST Hi I have a Lenovo G50-80 from 2015. It was my siblings', and I installed windows 10 on it in 2018. Since then I have occasionally been having wifi disconnection issues. Example: When surfing, I suddenly get a no connection error on the browser(any browser). I open the Wifi tab, my wifi shows connected with no Internet. But any other device connected has no such issue! Then I turn my laptop wifi off, turn it on again...the issue repeats. And then the Wifi is connected and back to normal :( I have removed and installed wifi drivers, etc from my device's support page. But this issue keeps occurring. I have even clean install windows 10 many times, so the OEM bloatware is gone too. But it keeps recurring. The frequency of the problem has increased since last year. And is a huge issue during my online classes. Kindly suggest what I can do. As I wanted to get an SSD to upgrade my laptop, but whats the point if wifi doesn't work smooth. Also another thing I recently noticed was that if I connect my USB mouse when this issue happens. I get no sound notification. And in the Windows network connections page, my Wifi appears disabled...but I am able to still search for wifi...which is strange. I suspect there must be some issue with the hardware and OS. All my software, OS, drivers and BIOS are the latest available. Concerned Wifi card: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 [link] [comments]
Starting a remote service tech support business? Posted: 28 Nov 2021 09:49 AM PST Hi everyone, figured it would be great to ask this sub this question. I currently work locally in tech support on an independent basis and have been paying my bills this way for over a decade. I also own another business (similar to UPS Store) so I understand the basics of business. Basically, what do you all think of the idea of starting a business much like mycomputerworks.com , (Maybe a different pricing model) there are many out there like them. Currently, I already do remote support for many of my clients, I work on a trust basis where I bill after the work is done. I know how frustrating it can be to help an elderly person remotely, do it all the time. I always get the impression these online companies are very scammy. Is there a good one out there to check out? I sincerely just enjoy helping small businesses and individuals with tech problems and figured it might be a good idea to move to a fully online model. POST ERROR (1 Long Beep, 2 Short Beeps) Random Posted: 28 Nov 2021 08:05 AM PST Hello All! Recently, for about the last month or so my computer started to POST with 1 Long beep and 2 Short beeps randomly. I know from my experience that this is typically a RAM, CPU or sometimes a MOBO issue, but it has left me baffled. It does not occur every single time, but some days I will go to start up and it will POST like this 1 - 5 times, requiring me to power off and then back on for it to possibly correct itself, and some days it will just POST the 1 single good beep and start right up! It's very weird and also decides to not POST at all sometimes after a restart. I will list the build and the steps I have taken to possibly alleviate and/or fix the problem. I have not made any changes to the build prior to this that caused the error on POST, it literally just started randomly, to my recollection. Corrective Actions: Build I am assuming it's because I cheaped out hard on the PSU, it's only maybe $40 on Amazon and my next step is to upgrade it to an 850W Gold+ PSU but I had upgraded it from a previous 650W that was not rated at all. Any and all help is appreciated. Again, although the PSU is shit I have used a PSU tester to verify it's working properly but then again it is a cheap one and may not be sufficient enough for my current build. I am a pretty experienced technician with about 6 years of experience on Computers and 10+ on other electronics such as phones, consoles, tablets, etc. I ran my own Tech Repair business for a few years and now work for uBreakiFix as a Lead Tech in store. Some Issues with an ASUS G73S gifted to me Posted: 27 Nov 2021 11:36 PM PST So, when I had received the laptop and went setting about and testing it out, I have to come across a couple of issues that I am wondering how I could possibly get help in fixing or determining the issues. So, on the Laptop, it seems like the camera isn't connected at all somehow, as it doesn't show any video, nor does the camera light turn on whilst in or through the camera app. Another thing is that the SD Card slot and the two other USB ports don't seem to work, although with the other two (I think they're the 2.0 ones??) USB slots do provide power to say charge my phone or charge a battery bank but refuse to connect. Despite all these issues though I only really want my USB ports to work and let my devices connect. Can anyone help me out here? Cause I can't even contact whom I had received this from. [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Nov 2021 10:38 PM PST During my previous shutdown, the shutdown was very long (almost infinite) and I just forced shutdown using the power button. On my next power up, I get this error after bios logo : Please insert/select the bootable device. I checked in my bios settings - My ssd is appearing as a device but my HDD aint. I have windows, all systems fails ( C drive) allocated to SSD only. Swapped SATA cables, power cables nothing fixed it. I ran Seatools bootable- SSD is completel fine and passed all tests. HDD is recognized by seatools (but not in bios).HDD fails at SMART check and miserabily failed Fix All option. The report shows failed with a yellow icon thats it. Log files show that HDD is even unable to start those tests. I remvoed HDD and Tried booting only with SSD - Since it has windows. Same error poped up again. I dont know how else to proceed, please give me some ideas. [link] [comments]

Cannot install anything on my HDD! Posted: 27 Nov 2021 04:02 PM PST I have a Western Digital HDD 1TB, used only for storage (music, games, photos etc.). Suddenly anything in that disk stopped working. For example music will take forever to start, if I try installing anything it will install up until a random point e.g. 14%, 67%, 45%, etc and get stuck forever. Copy/pasting always gets stuck at 99%. I scanned it for viruses nothing. I disc checked from cmd again nothing. It doesn't show any kind of corruption I can see the disk every program I tried says it is healthy and the list goes on. [link] [comments]

Windows 10 won't boot randomly... Posted: 27 Nov 2021 07:21 AM PST Guys I need help :/ I recently built my dream PC specs down below and sometimes it won't boot to Windows for some reason... Every driver is installed (I checked it in device manager. ), and I updated Windows to the latest build. //In details// So when occurs, first it will try to boot up Windows, and it would be stuck on the dots (loop). So when I power off the computer, it will bring me back to BIOS (I checked the boot order). So after that when I restart it again it will boot up (but some time several times...) Specs : AMD Ryzen 3 3300X 8GB Kingston HyperX Fury 32000MHz RAM Nvidia Ge Force GTX 1650 OC MBR : MSI B450 M2 PRO MAX [link] [comments]
