• So i Recently bought the legion i7 RTX 3080 + 11800h and boy i did not regret it! If you are in the market looking for a high end gaming laptop this should definitely be one to consider! The things that stand out to me are definitely the cooling (quiet fans) and the amazing screen.

Difference in performance with quite similar laptops Posted: 27 Nov 2021 01:03 PM PST I have two laptops which are fairly similar on paper when it comes to performance. However, one of them is noticeably slower in use: boot time, application starting/loading times etc. are slower for the one which I would expect to be a bit faster actually. I'm just wondering what could cause this. Could there be something with the power management settings or bios configurations? The laptops are: Lenovo Thinkpad E580 (i5-8250U, 16 Gb DDR4 2400, 256 Gb SSD, Win 10) Huawei Matebook D14 (Ryzen 5 3500U, 8 Gb DDR4 2400, 512 Gb SSD, Win 10) On paper I wouldn't expect noticeable difference between these two. Perhaps I would guess that the i5-powered Thinkpad would have a slight upper hand. However, Matebook seems to work noticeably faster than Thinkpad. The overall experience is much smoother with Matebook and I'm really surprised of it. Looking at userbenchmarks, the i5 should be a bit faster CPU than its AMD counterpart and my Thinkpad also has extended RAM making it twice that of the Matebook's. Help - Looking to buy a new laptop Posted: 27 Nov 2021 12:52 PM PST Hi all - hoping someone can help. I'm looking to buy a new laptop but am unsure of what to get. Currently, I own a 2014 15"- HP Pavilion which has been good to me but at 7 years old, her times a-ticking. For work, I use a Mac (first time I've ever really used one. Took a while to get used to but I like it), since it's been a while that I've bought a laptop I'm not sure what are the best ones on the market and/or whether I should continue to stick with a pc or get a Mac. I'm ideally looking for a laptop that either has a lot of space (included) or I can add more space to that isn't crazy expensive. I like to buy music and currently, my iTunes takes up about 60gb of space. I'm thinking of making a career shift to design and so I've been looking to take graphic design courses. I'd ideally want a laptop that can function well when Photoshop and InDesign are running in addition to iTunes. I like that Macs have the backlit keyboard and would ideally want this in my personal laptop something that can last a long time ala my 2014 HP something a bit lighter than my current laptop budget: i honestly don't want to go any higher than $1.5k USD, but if it's a really good laptop, I can stretch my budgets I going back and forth between a Macbook Air and adding the 512gb package, RAM at 8gb or some sort of HP (maybe something from the HP Specter line?). I was gonna get the macbook air, but my sister got it and the keys are like shiny? Idk what to call it but its like greasy even though my sister literally has ocd so she washes her hands 80 times a day. Galaxy Book Odyssey for Video Editing?? Posted: 27 Nov 2021 12:37 PM PST I've recently been looking for a video editing laptop that doesn't scream gamer, but is very capable and won't be over $1500. I was considering the Razer Blade 15 Advanced 2020 model as it was on sale but I missed the black Friday sale. Was also considering the MSI Creator 15 OLED but missed the sale. Recently I've noticed the Galaxy Book Odyssey as it has an RTX 3050 Ti and a 6Core 11th Gen intel i7 11600H CPU. It would be nice to have a capable laptop within the Samsung ecosystem. I will be mainly editing 2-5 min music videos shot in CLOG on Canon EOS R 1080P in Premiere Pro CC with lots of effects and ocasially using After Effects for more heavy effects/transitions. Posted: 27 Nov 2021 05:44 AM PST Hi, so basically I'm stuck between these 3 laptops and I don't know which to choose.In the table below I have included the most important parameters for me and the temperatures are indicative based on what I was able to find in the video reviews and technical catalogs.Each of them has a distinguishing advantage, but I cannot convince myself of any of them 100%, I would like to choose Legion 7, I think I like it the most (well, all customizable RGB, vapor chamber cooling, 500nits and the highest TGP) but its price is much higher compared to the others (in my currency). A budget sufficient for its purchase, but I would need an even stronger argument for its purchase, or a stronger one in favor of the other two, to let go of it (e.g. the rest of the budget for replacing the stock RAM / buying an SSD etc).The webcam and MUX are strongly in favor of both Legions, in favor of Asus there is a higher gen processor and a favorable price.
