I bought a Portuguese laptop and didn't realize that the keyboard layout was slightly different. Any good solutions for changing the physical keyboard to a English setup? The Enter button is an upside down L which makes it difficult to find a keyboard cover.

Would you go for more screen size or faster rAM

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 11:50 AM PST

I'm looking at building a laptop, and one I have found I can either get a 15inch with 12gb 3200mhz RAM or a 17 inch with 12gb 2400mhz RAM. The 15 inch is $20 more. Everything else about them is the same.

    Which would you choose?

Asus Tuf vs Acer Nitro 5 vs Dell G5? Asus and Acer have similar specs, Dell is better for the same price range but I've heard it's got a very nasty habit of heating up enough to fry things. I cannot go above 750 before tax. The Dell is an open box. The others give me room to upgrade ssd or ram

can I replace my 768p screen with a 1080p one?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 01:39 PM PST

I had the base model lenovo idea pad y510p for 6 years but recently I accidentally broke the screen, it originally had a 768p screen and I wanted to know if I can replace with a 1080p panel, finding a 1080p screen for it shouldn't be that hard as it was mostly offered in 1080p

Is it normal for CPU % usage to fluctuate?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 01:38 PM PST

I bought a new Spectre x360 (1650Ti version) and love it but have a general question.

When I open up task manager it shows CPU usage % percentage fluctuate randomly from 89% south to 1% then anywhere in between just randomly. Is that normal? It's not hot or no fans on or anything.

    Dual monitors not working

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 12:36 PM PST

After working from home for 9 months with a laptop and an extended 2nd monitor, I am fed up with the size difference in the 2 displays. I just bought 2 matching monitors, each with 1 VGA in and 1 HDMI in. I want to set them up for dual extended display (I plan to keep my laptop lid closed). I've researched for hours and I'm even more confused than before. These are the ports I have on my HP Probook: my ports

I bought a USB-C to VGA and HDMI adapter, but it doesn't seem to be working in either VGA or HDMI mode. I'm guessing my USB-C port does not support video.

My next idea is to buy a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, then buy a HDMI splitter to connect the 2 monitors. Can someone tell me if that will work before I throw another $50 down the drain on this?

    Zephyrus S15 or Zephyrus G14

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 12:23 PM PST

As the title says looking to buy a gaming laptop.

It came down to these 2, with the Razer Blade Advanced being a possible 3rd.

On one hand the Zephyrus S15 has it all: RTX2080, 300hz display, Gsync, amongst other things.

The G14 is about the same but with a Ryzen 9 and an RTX2060, which is a decent card for gaming.

One is 2500 dollars and the G14 about 1200 or so. So yeah, go for the maxed out one or the cheaper one with ok specs.

Which one would we the better buy here?

(Help) What monitor can a ASUS ROG strix 15 inch laptop 1650 ti intel i5 8gb ram

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 12:19 PM PST

I need help finding a monitor that I can use with a laptop (specs mentioned above).

Size preference: 27 inch If possible

    Primary use: gaming/web browsing

Can the laptop do 144hz on a 27 inch without melting itself?

I definitely won't be using both the laptop monitor and external monitor for gaming but would I be able to use both for tasks like Microsoft word?

£350 laptop recommendations for discreet gaming?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 07:52 AM PST

I know it's not a big budget which is why I'm not looking for anything crazy. The one I currently have is an Asus X411UA with intel core i5-8250U CPU (no idea what that means)

A necessity is for it to run Minecraft pretty smoothly, on my current laptop I get around 100 fps on minecraft. I also would like it to run GTA V decently well but that's not incredibly important.

Thank you for anyone that helps!! If you need any more details I'm happy to give them! I'm hopeless at looking myself

Laptop with bottom panel not screwed in

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 10:45 AM PST

Due to reasons, I need to use my laptop but the bottom cannot be screwed back on for a couple days. If I rest the laptop on top of the bottom cover but just don't screw it in will I be fine? It would be sitting on top of a laptop tray and I would be using it for gaming and general use. I can just not play games if that might cause a problem and just watch YouTube etc. It would be no longer than three days at the very most

    hp notebook finally booted

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 10:42 AM PST

After months of trying to factory reset and also getting a message along the lines of "we couldn't reset your pc and no changes were made"

i ended up running f11 and going to advanced options where I prompted to start debugging. It finally got to my password screen and I'm on. I'm going to run ccleaner and get this computer to run League of Legends for my girlfriend. Anymore tips before I continue on?

I'm going to wait for some replies then I'll start on it. Going to put the laptop on pause or until ccleaner is fully done. Thanks guys appreciate the lookover.

Pc screen black whenever I touch it or reopen my laptop but pc still running

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 10:26 AM PST

    Product: AMD Ryzen 5 3500u

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-Bit)

so whenever I power on my laptop the screen is still black but it's on I can still use it if I connect it to another monitor. in the beginning I had to push or press a certain way to have the screen pop up and it will always go black when I reopen my computer and ill have to press again or open and close it again. now I've recently dropped my laptop and now it's even harder to have the black screen go away I can press it anymore for it to go away and it comes back randomly after a long time. I've looked up solutions on how to fix it I tried taking it out and putting back in my memory stick but that didn't fix it, I did bios and made sure things are up to date that didn't fix it either. then I came across saying that it could be a problem with the Lcd cable for my computer screen and it may be loose but I don't know how to fix it. I'm afraid to do the wrong thing and mess it up more with the little info I have

(note)= I've had this problem when I very first got the computer it wasn't that big of a deal at first because I can deal with it but go worse after dropping it now the screen won't turn on unless I get lucky after opening or powering it off a couple of times but very annoying.
-this is my first time on Reddit so some things may be off

    Second external monitor

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 10:03 AM PST

Hello, I own Huawei d15 350u and I am trying to plug a second external monitor via usb-c to HDMI adapter. It's currently not working, but is this possible to fix this, or it doesn't work on this laptop?
