Posted: 03 Oct 2020 12:10 PM PDT Hello I have an ASUS X509 FB laptop. After installing HackBGRT, a tool to change boot screen logo to a custom logo it does not turn on, showing only an ASUS boot logo. It cannot start either in Windows, in the BIOS, or in safe mode. Please help. Greetings Rosario [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Oct 2020 10:06 AM PDT Background: I built this PC in July 2019. It's has a Ryzen 5 2600 with 16 GB of RAM running Windows 10 1909. The OS is on an SSD and there's two additional HDDs. It's primarily used for music production (FL Studio). I use the computer typically 8+ hours a day. The issue: I noticed that my PC was not shutting down correctly recently after I updated it to 1909. It will show the usual shut down screen and will turn off, but the power button light will stay on and the fans/hard drive will spin quietly. I'm not sure if it got worse over time, but on average I'd say it doesn't shut down correctly about 95% of the time, so I always end up holding the power button to turn it off. I'm starting to get concerned about data corruption because a few times I saw the "repairing files" text when booting up. Also, if it's in sleep mode it rarely wakes up from sleep (similar to how it doesn't shut down, except it ignores any input and I can't wake it normally). I did some research and apparently upgrading Windows 10 to version 2004 could possibly fix the problem...except I haven't been able to do that either. Someone who was helping me awhile back recommended this guide (to find and fix any issues that may be preventing it from upgrading) and I started going through the entire thing but wasn't able to get past #10, step 4. I tried to update to 2004 several times up to this point and it never once worked; it always reverted back to my system restore point. I couldn't get past this particular step because apparently I don't have admin rights to the System 32 folder even though I'm logged into (the only) admin account. Any time I try to do these steps or a combination of them, Windows Explorer freezes. Not sure why that happens. I had installed a custom theme at one point (that I had since completely uninstalled), could that be the reason for this problem? Just wondering because I can't stand the Windows 10 interface and will mostly likely re-install the theme I had once again, tbh. Despite all of this, my computer is usable but I'm just concerned about what could happen if I continue to ignore this problem. I also apparently have a reoccurring virus or two that Kaspersky is picking up. I'm guessing that a clean install would probably be the best solution, but if anyone has anything I can try to fix this problem I would really appreciate it. And if anyone has any tips on how to make a clean install faster, I would really appreciate that as well. With the amount of things I would have to reinstall, it seems like it would take a couple days total. Edit: forgot to add that the problem also started around the time I upgraded to a new Acer monitor and a Radeon RX 550. Occasionally the screen will turn off for 2 seconds and turn back on and sometimes when I turn it off and then back on myself, there's like a greyish overlay to the screen and I have to restart to fix it. Tl:dr: Computer doesn't shut down or wake from sleep correctly after upgrade to 1909, forcing me to do a hard power off every time I do either of these things. Tried to upgrade to possibly fix the issue but I'm unable to do that for unknown reasons. Fast boot in both bios and windows are both disabled. Sleep mode and hibernation have also been disabled. I'm still having the problem. [link] [comments]
Laptop can't detect USB flash drives but USB devices work perfectly fine. Posted: 03 Oct 2020 01:59 AM PDT As of recently, I've noticed my laptop can't detect USB flash drives. If I plug a flash drive in, I'll see the light briefly flash and then nothing. Doesn't show up anywhere within Windows, Device Manager or Disk Management. I also don't get any errors saying it didn't connect correctly. It's just straight up invisible to my laptop. The flash drive isn't the issue because it works on other computers and this issue affects all USB-A type storage devices. The thing is though, USB devices such as my mouse and headset work perfectly fine in the same USB ports. USB-C works perfectly fine too. Things I've tried so far: - Restart computer - check device manager and disk management - update windows to the latest version - uninstall all USB drivers in device manager - run a full system antivirus scan - soft reset the computer with a fresh copy of windows 10 - completely wipe the computer and hard reset with a fresh copy of windows 10 - format the USB flash drive on another computer Not really sure what else I can try. Laptop specs - Acer Predator Triton 700 - i7 7700HQ - 32GB DDR4 ram - GTX 1080 Max Q - 64bit Windows 10 Home version 2004 - OS Build 19041.508 - no overclocking [link] [comments] |
