Gonna keep my 5t instead of upgrading Posted: 02 Aug 2020 10:49 PM PDT Hey, I just came across this subreddit after doing some research on my phone and wanted to share with the community. I upgraded from a Nexus 6P to the OnePlus 5t after it came out in 2017, and it's worked great for me up until recently. When it was new, the battery would last 2-3 days on a charge, and I was pretty happy with the phone as a whole (well, okay, the camera sucks in comparison to Nexus 6P but I like it otherwise). Anyway, my battery doesn't last like it used to and my rear camera stopped working so I've had a bug in my ear to save up a few bucks for a phone until I came across the price for OEM repairs. I can't believe it's only $30 USD for labor and the battery and camera parts are $50 USD, that's way cheaper than I would've expected. With how well this phone has held up over the last 3 years I'm definitely going down the repair route. I will probably look into flashing new software and try to make this phone last as long as possible! Edit: I think I confused a few people about the repair process on my phone. I was trying to say that I found the repair costs on OnePlus's website, and what I shared above is about what they charge to replace those parts if you mail it in. I don't know what the total cost will be including shipping and whatnot and I haven't started the process yet since I was out of town all weekend. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2020 08:05 AM PDT Recently I lost one of the eartips of my OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z. I was really sad, because they where the best eartips I tried in the last years, so I contacted support to see if they could do something for me. They just sent me a new set of eartips, for free with no shipping cost! I am really happy! Thanks OnePlus [link] [comments]
Looking for Daily Driver recommends for a friend switching from iOS Posted: 03 Aug 2020 01:57 PM PDT Hi OP friends, I have a roommate who's iPhone 6s is really taking a hit performance wise, and he's considering switching to Android, but wants some cheap daily driver recommendations. I usually recommend going with a OnePlus for a cheap great Android experience, but I want to check to see what the best cost to performance option he could go for with an older OP model. He's using a 16gb iPhone 6s, so isn't needing anything beefy spec wise, mostly just looking for a solid and cheap daily driver that "just works". I was planning to recommend picking up a used 7t, but wanted to see if anyone had any better recommendations in terms of usability, longevity and price. He uses his phone for the bare basics, so web browsing, email, signal, etc. Nothing fancy. Anyone have a recommendation for an iPhone users first OnePlus in this case? Thanks a bunch 🙏 [link] [comments]
Oneplus 6 is buggy, slow, can't keep apps open in background Posted: 03 Aug 2020 08:33 PM PDT Always loved this device, but since the last half year I'm experiencing more and more problems. I was hoping for an update, but the last one is from March, so I'm not having high hopes. I'm willing to try a custom ROM, since they (ironically) have better support and bug fixes. So I'm looking for suggestions! Also, I'm using some apps like banking that try everything to detect root. Can I install a custom ROM without them detecting something? Can they check for unlocked bootloaders? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2020 05:19 PM PDT Can I just say that the little details on the OS are great? I just got done using airplane mode and noticed that the little plane lands when you shut it off and takes off when you turn it on on the quick toggle. [link] [comments]
My OnePlus 7T just updated all my PlayStore Apps I have purposely not updated for a reason! Posted: 03 Aug 2020 03:05 PM PDT Somehow in the last 8 hours the Play Store auto update got turned back on and apps that I didn't want to update for reasons that the updates in question have caused issues or broken important functionality, now are all updated :( Curious if anyone else has had that happen to their devices? How to turn off auto speakerphone during call? Posted: 03 Aug 2020 08:35 PM PDT When raising/lowering your phone during a call,.your phone automatically senses when it is close to your face. It will switch between quiet audio and speakerphone. This is inconvenient, since I when I'm playing a mobile game and talking on the phone, my phone thinks my hand is actually my face. Any time my hand hovers over the phone camera, my screen dims and I can no longer hear the other party. How do I turn this off? I've scoured the settings and can't find anything. Reporting back my Experience with the Customer Service after getting my phone repaired. Posted: 03 Aug 2020 11:17 AM PDT Hello everyone. The day has come and I've now successfully gotten my phone repaired since I cracked the screen. After costs it costed around $275 USD after taxes and labor fees. The phone looks literally brand new, they replaced the sides and the screen which looks very good. They also gave me a free USB ribbon style cable for free which was very nice. Although getting a loaner device took a bit longer than expected as it took a week to get a loaner device to swap all my data. But here is where I believe a lot of people are going to ask is if I still have screen issues like Black Crush/Tinting/Image Rentention are all still here. I am going to do further testing but I still have issues under 30% brightness. The black crush isn't as bad as my last device and it is acceptable for my standards. Here are some screenshots of the device and the red tint that I have. https://imgur.com/a/z8359DE I am hoping that the Tinting and Image retention can be improved over software. Posted: 03 Aug 2020 09:49 AM PDT I ordered a OnePlus 8 case by accident for my 8 pro. Noticed a few hours later and immediately ordered a 8pro case and tried to cancel my other order. Was already too late so I figured no big deal Ill just send it back. So I Receive the 8 case, don't even open the box, just remove the label, attach the new one and send it off. Today I receive a partial refund of 18 euro instead of the 25 (+10 shipping). Typical OnePlus customer service. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2020 09:34 AM PDT Hi all, debating on grabbing the Nord but had a few questions if anyone could help:

Does anyone know why OnePlus went with GorillaGlass 5 instead of 6 on the OP8 & OP8 Pro? Posted: 03 Aug 2020 12:52 PM PDT They had 6 on the 6 ffs. Why not on their new flagship? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Aug 2020 10:58 PM PDT Hey guys! I think I'll upgrade soon. I love my 3T to death and will keep it as backup. Bought it at release, and it still works fine. Now the question is, what my next one will be. Reading this sub I figured that there are some issues with the 8's display, so I'm considering buying the 7pro, 7tpro or the Nord. Personally I'm leaning towards the 7pro or 7tpro, because I always wanted a phone without a notch and that sweet, sweet full device display - another thing the 8 did wrong IMO. But that's subjective, and I'm very open to try it if you recommend it. What are your thoughts? I'm OOTL about upcoming price changes - if any - and what a good time for the purchase is. Maybe you guys have some good tips. Cheers, and have a great day! Much love [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2020 04:22 PM PDT Did anyones OnePlus Nords come with AR Core installed? Any known support dates? Seems strange that they'd release a phone through a AR event but not have AR ready for it on release. [link] [comments]
Local Nord or imported 7T Pro? Posted: 03 Aug 2020 12:28 PM PDT I'm a student in the UK so I have a relatively small budget of £500-£550. However I need 256GB storage as I have a lot of files on my phone. The 256GB variant of the Nord is £469 which is good. However, I was looking at 7T and 7T Pro buying options and the 7T Pro is priced at £507 on Wondamobile.com I've contacted a few people on Reddit who had bought phones from them and they say the site is legit. Plus they have a 12 month warranty and they accept PayPal. The only caveat is that the 7T Pro is the Chinese variant with Oxygen OS flashed onto it. But Wondamobile says it will receive software updates similar to other 7T Pros. Is there any reason to choose the Nord over the 7T Pro from Wondamobile? Any other advice? Edit: Should probably mention that the 7T and 7T Pro aren't in stock in the UK [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2020 05:00 AM PDT Hello. I am currently using a OP 7Pro and in the recent 2-3 weeks ago I've experienced apps freezing and not responding for a few seconds and then goes back to normal. It happens very frequently and it's starting to annoy me. I have 100 GB free storage and 12 GB RAM, I can force stop every running app but it makes no difference. Is anyone else experiencing this? Does someone have any tips or tricks that could help me out. Doing a factory reset can't be the only solution. Thank you. [link] [comments]
Looking to upgrade from iphone 6s 16gb Posted: 03 Aug 2020 03:20 PM PDT Been using 6s for 3 years now. Looking to upgrade this month mostly as the space and the battery are giving me real hard time now. Looking for something to go on for around 3 years. My picks and issues(India):
I don't game much, very rarely. Need a great picture and video camera though and all day battery for general use, nothing much heavy. The general social media apps, videocalls and media stream. Would have gone for the 8 pro as its the cheapest with the flagship features but the current issues mentioned above bother me a lot and bars me from trusting and investing that much into it. Any other suggestions are welcome! Thanks. [link] [comments]
OnePlus 8 Pro AMOLED black display issue on YouTube Posted: 03 Aug 2020 02:59 PM PDT So I've only noticed this issue on YouTube. In a certain range of brightness (between 15-30%), the black colour in YouTube videos isn't proper AMOLED black. They light up slightly. Even the black bars on either side aren't pitch black. Can anyone else confirm this? Edit: Well same issue also on Reddit [link] [comments]

Will flashing a custom rom keep oneplus from collecting data? Posted: 03 Aug 2020 02:23 PM PDT I know google and facebook also collect data but I've had gmail and facebook account for many years now and if possible I would like to limit the companies/people that are collecting my data. So, would flashing a custom rom keep them from doing this? Also when support on the device eventually ends will flashing a rom be able to keep it updated to the latest android version? Thanks!
