Well OnePlus, Goodbye and thanks for all the fish! Posted: 28 Aug 2020 01:28 PM PDT After owning the OP1(RIP), OP3 (still alive as a backup phone) and my current OP7 Pro, and looking at the direction OnePlus wants to take itself, I think its high time that I take the brand off the pedestal I had put it on. Lot of issues in the newer models, loss of the "wow" factor and the brand dilution makes it hard for me to expect the same level of commitment from OnePlus to the software lifecycle and the hardware quality. Agreed, that with just 3 devices in the market, there does not seem to be much of a dilution issue but I miss the days when OnePlus did one phone and did it well. I hope that the current phone lasts me as long as the OP3 and is still as good as anything else on the market. TL;DR - Thank you for some great devices, but its time we part ways. Its not me, its you. [link] [comments]

Best chargers for OnePlus 7T pro McLaren Edition and OnePlus 6T. Posted: 28 Aug 2020 06:55 PM PDT I live in a dormitory and my friends phone chargers were stolen... One of my friends has a OnePlus 6T while the other has a Oneplus 7T pro McLaren Edition... We don't know where it might be so they are thinking of buying new chargers. But the official chargers here (In Philippines) is pretty expensive and we would like to see if there is any reliable 3rd party options. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Aug 2020 03:54 PM PDT I'm a Pixel convert, and I only have ever-so-slight complaints with this phone. I personally don't like waterfall screens a lot, but am used to them from the Pixel. This one is more pronounced due to the UV glue screen protector I have on it, so I still get some issues trying to touch stuff around the edges. I don't like that OP Messages app doesn't have a search function within specific text threads, or that snapseed editing isn't a default option when going to edit a photo. I also don't like that the speaker is located next to the charging port, but that's a sacrifice for a 90%+ screen to body ratio. But other than that, I can't think of a single complaint. The only other thing comparable on the market is the S20 Ultra, which is overpriced and full of samsung bullshit. I don't really care about Facebook bloatware, because I have Facebook anyway and to think that you're not already being tracked by everyone, including the Chinese company who makes your phone, is willful ignorance. I get it, I shouldn't be complacent and I should make it harder/more expensive to get my data, and should want to reduce the amount of tracking, etc. I get it. But you're always being tracked, and if a company wants your data, they can just buy it from one of the thousands of places that track you. You can also remove the FB bullshit if you want to, too, just with some extra steps. Also, I haven't had any issues whatsoever at any light level, with or without DC dimming. The display is fucking mindblowing. The smoothness of it all, the snappiness. But really, what about the new line is so bad? What are you comparing it to, since there's nothing else better spec wise? What more could one want out of a phone? [link] [comments]
Battery Cases for 7T? Wireless Charging Maybe? Charger Reciever that doesn't block the USB port? Posted: 28 Aug 2020 05:29 PM PDT Oneplus 7T does not have wireless charging, but I wanted to see if there are some work arounds for this. First, there are recievers that plug into the usb c that have a pad placed under a case, but these block the port. Does anything exist like this that doesn't block the port? Maybe a battery case that supports wireless charging, yet extends the actual USB C port? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Aug 2020 03:37 PM PDT So, I ordered my brother a 7T (HD1900) off a third party seller on amazon. Verizon couldn't get it to work, even though it should as it's an international unlocked model. However, as I was looking through his phone to see what was up, I noticed it was an 8/128 model, even though the HD1900 doesn't seem to exist in that configuration. Sadly, I ordered it exactly one month and one day ago, so I can't return on Amazon. What is the explanation for this? and what should I do? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:21 PM PDT Hello, I just wanted to vent a little bit and inform the potential buyers. It may be a long read if you are into that. I only had Oneplus 3 before and it's still going strong. There are many people out there saying that 8 Pro is such a nice phone and I agree with the most of them. Loudspeakers were ok and the vibration motor was miles ahead of Oneplus 8 and maybe little better than Pixel 2 XL. Apart from that the display is gorgeous, the colors were just as I liked them to be, 120hz on a phone is also nice. But the display issues are the reason. I've had the phone for mere 2 days and in that timeframe I got Burn In marks. No they are not image retentions I disabled all the static icons on the status and navigation bar and they persisted. A phone having even a tiny bit of a burn in after 36 hours of usage is in my opinion unacceptable. My current Pixel 2 is almost 2 years old after the phone service and it has the same marks. The low brightness was not that of a problem for me but from time to time it was perceivable And my unit was from June. Not even that old. It seems like a lottery to me. There are many many people without complaints and many many with complaints. No photos because I already packed everything. Just leaving this here if its not some off-topic/not approved content for the subreddit. [link] [comments]

Is it worth buying the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G (Sprin) on 2020? Posted: 28 Aug 2020 06:59 PM PDT I'm from Mexico and I'm looking for my first OnePlus, is it worth the 7 pro 5g in 2020? I'm mostly worried for the coming Oxygen or Android updates since I Sprint doesn't give proper updates to this particular device, is it something it would affect the overall experience with the phone? Instagram will not install to OnePlus 7t Posted: 28 Aug 2020 02:20 PM PDT Hey all, I've been trying to install instagram to my OnePlus 7t recently and everytime it says "Something went wrong. Try again." On the Google Play app it also does not show the description or any reviews, all it displays under the app is the title and the promotional picture. I have plenty of space on my phone so that shouldn't be the problem. Anyone else experience this problem? [link] [comments]
Almost became a part of OnePlus family Posted: 28 Aug 2020 05:42 PM PDT I wanted to buy OnePlus 8 pro. Gladly, went to the store to hold it 'in person'. Thank god I did! The screen is so curved it's super uncomfortable to use it! Especially the "go back" gesture. It would have been a total bummer if I bought it without holding it in real life. I would be able to tolerate the curve as on OnePlus 7 pro, but 8 pro's curve is just too much. Hope OnePlus will make the curve not so aggressive or gets rid of it for good in the future. Now I have to opt for another brand =( Hope in the future curved screen is just a weird whim phone makers had in the past. [link] [comments]
GCam won't focus with any lens (OP7T) Posted: 28 Aug 2020 05:19 PM PDT I downloaded the new version of GCam that allows you to use other cameras without root, I've also already applied the config file, however any time I go to take a picture with any of the cameras it never focuses, it just stays as a blurry blob no matter how many times I tap the area I want focused. I'm trying to use GCam cause every time I take a picture in the stock app it looks like it applied 5 sharpening filters or something like that and just make the pictures look like complete ass, is there any way to take a picture with just what it has on the viewfinder and no processing? I feel like OP's processing makes pictures look worse than just seeing them in the viewfinder so any recommendations on camera apps other than GCam would also be nice. [link] [comments]
Issues with August 7T pro 5G update Posted: 28 Aug 2020 05:19 PM PDT Anyone else having issues with the latest update on the T-Mobile 7T pro update? It keeps failing saying to resume when it isn't being used. I hit update and set it down and it still fails. [link] [comments]
Every 5 seconds blinking of the OnePlus Wireless Z Posted: 28 Aug 2020 04:43 PM PDT Hello, i bought the OnePlus Wireless Z and overall exactly what i searched for this price it is the best option and works well with good built quality, BUT somehow OnePlus thought it would be a good idea to make it blink every 5 seconds and sadly i only found complains on the internet but no real help.. so i try it here, maybe some of you have a good workaround? Its 2 am now and this blinking annoys me so extremely.. i expected more from OnePlus developers.. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Aug 2020 10:02 AM PDT This started a few days ago. I noticed that when I hit the home button, there's a noticeable lag when returning to the home screen. Also, when I hit the back button, it doesn't return me to the same spot I was at so I always have to scroll back down to my original spot. I have the latest update. Only installed 2 new apps. I wiped system cache and it did nothing. RAM boost is on. Could it be a battery issue? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:41 AM PDT 2 days ago I got the latest 10.5.5 update on my one plus Nord. Since then I kust feel like the phones feeling warmer than before. Is this a because of the new update? Anyone else experiencing this ? [link] [comments]
Google account not working on data Posted: 28 Aug 2020 10:14 AM PDT I have had an issue with my OnePlus 6 for the longest time now. Any app that is using my Google account doesn't work when on data, but no issues on WiFi. The same goes for other apps like Snapchat but mostly Google affiliated apps such as YouTube, Google maps, Gmail, play store etc. I can open them but it's as if they don't get internet and keep loading for ever end ever and render themselves useless outside of college as I don't have any wifi in my apartment. I think i might have enabled/disabled something in my settings but can't seem to find what it might be. And before you ask, no it's not an issue with my Google account as I've made another profile on my phone with the same one which works perfectly fine. If anyone has any idea what might fix this i'd be very grateful for your help. [link] [comments]
Oneplus buds appear used / damaged Posted: 28 Aug 2020 12:52 PM PDT I just received my grey buds and was so excited, however I notice there's a tiny chip in the top of them that appear as though they were dropped. I can't tell if it's a manufacturing defect or an impact. I want to try and return them but I'm concerned oneplus will deny it because they aren't in "resellable condition". Has anyone had experience with trying to return a physically damaged product? I just don't want to waste my shipping charges if they are likely to just deny my return. [link] [comments]
Oneplus not honouring warrant UK. Awkward communication. Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:38 AM PDT This post was originally made in r/LegalAdviceUK to try to find out what action I could take next, but I figured this is where I'd find all the guys with the experiences and specific OnePlus information. Apologises for the copypasta. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Launch day 2019 (May), I bought a OnePlus 7 Pro from John Lewis (potentially important). A few months later I noticed 'AMOLED burn in', and about 2 months later than that I dropped the phone at a petrol station which cracked the screen. I replaced the phone with the newer model (OnePlus 7t Pro) and have kept the non-t as a spare. As the phone wasn't on my mind anymore, I didn't get it repaired and had it just sat in a drawer until my partner needed to borrow a phone as she broke hers abroad (different story) - she used the 7 Pro, putting up with the burn in and crack, for a good 5 months. Now the phone is back in my hands, I'd like to get it sorted and repaired so I can sell it on. I thought: fine, shouldn't be a problem getting it fixed under warranty if I send it in for a repair on the grounds that the Burn-In is an intrinsic issue with some of the cheap Samsung panels which OnePlus has been employing in their phones for a good few years (and continue to). I have done none of the following through John Lewis, but through OnePlus themselves. I realise in hindsight that going through John Lewis may have been the easier option here, but I'm considering it a back-up at this point as my phone is with OnePlus so it's a bit late. I sent the device to their Polish service centre with clear pictures of the Burn In defect and as detailed a description as I could give in the 140-odd character-limited text box. They received the device just fine, but the following day gave me a quote to pay for a "mechanical damage" repair to the tune of £186, citing the broken screen, without reference to the burn in. I thought: right, well they must have received a cracked device and immediately assumed that it was in for that fix. I replied to a support email only to get a blunt reply which also seemed to totally ignore everything I had sent and said, just mentioning the "mechanical damage" once again with no reference to burn in. I, stressed and annoyed, replied again - to receive no reply. Present: So today i contacted the conventional OnePlus suport team via their handy-dandy chat and went through the process of explaining all that had happened. After the first bloke disconnected without reason, the second took some catching up and eventually informed me that the phone wasn't in warranty due to the cracked screen [using their favourite term, "mechanical damage"]. I asked him to cite where in their warranty repair policy it said that and, after cheekily sending me their entire policy, he sent me the section which states:"(B) defects or damage resulting from accidents, neglect, misuse or abnormal use; defects or damage caused by abnormal conditions or improper storage; exposure to liquid, moisture, dampness, sand or dirt, or unusual physical, electrical or electromechanical stress." I stressed to the chap that the burn in is not a result of the cracked screen, and we then went in circles as he tried to tell me over and over that that quote from the warranty repair policy means that the burn in can't be repaired if there is "physical damage" to the device: in effect he repeated over and over, 'the crack in the screen means the device is out of warranty'. Now, I'm a reasonable person: and if that actually was their policy I would hold up my hands and say fine. Indeed, it would be a totally reasonable policy clause. But that isn't what it says. i'm sure you're all capable of reading and understanding what's happened so far, but it's clear the "defect or damage [burn in] (is not) resulting from accidents, neglect, misuse... [the crack]". I asked this chap to contact his manager, and an hour later he emailed me repeating exactly what he said before, without any citation of any policies. Again, I would totally understand if the "physical damage = no warranty" policy existed; but it doesn't. I'm currently waiting for a further reply, as I replied to the email containing what the chap's manager said, again, asking for a citation of their repair policy which will show me that I am not within my warranty. - Another small matter, as far as i was aware the entire time, the postage both ways was their responsibility. While talking to the support chap it became apparent that i am liable for the postage charge if i "do not choose to have my device repaired". Now, I simply could have missed something, but i don't think this was told to me, let alone made clear. In my reply to the /manager email/ I asked where I would be able to find out that I'd have to pay if (etc...) and I'm now waiting for that reply. - I would like to know who I should contact in order to get this issue resolved, where I stand in the matters, and what the process may look like. I'm in England, by the way. Sorry for the long post, but i wanted to get the details and specifics down to avoid a plethora of questions in the comments. Any help would be truly appreciated. Thank you all for your time and I hope you have a good weekend! [link] [comments]
What Exactly Does "Horizon Light" Do? Posted: 28 Aug 2020 06:06 AM PDT I've had my OP 8 from T-mobile for about a month now. I love the phone but I'm confused about the horizon light setting. It seems cool and I've set my color but not once have I actually seen it in action. May be an idiot question, but when does it show? What is it's purpose? When am I supposed to see it?
