Is there going to be a Windows 11? Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:26 PM PDT Might be getting a new pc soon, and was wondering if I should try to keep the old one around for a while until a new system comes out or just get a Windows 10 pc when I can. Seems like I keep hearing conflicting information. A lot of people seem to be posting "Concepts", release dates, and saying Windows 10 support is going to end soon. Others say that Windows is going to just the single OS that will be the same Windows just with continuous updates- sort of like how Adobe went to the creative cloud subscription method. I'm just wondering if there's been any official word on any of this. [link] [comments]
1903 Cumulative Update Causing Boot Loop Posted: 28 Aug 2020 10:35 AM PDT We are encountering an issue where when we push the August 2020 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 1903, multiple systems go into an inaccessible_BOOT_Device loop before crashing to a failed automatic startup repair. The SRT Log shows an error that a "boot binary is corrupt" [link] [comments]

What's the most reliable and seamless way to sync Android notifications to Windows 10? Posted: 28 Aug 2020 02:11 PM PDT I've tried: ...Your Phone app, but it only starts automatically about 20% of the times unless I open it manually ...KDE Connect, but kdeconnectd.exe (the process in charge of syncing) crashes almost every time it has to sync WhatsApp notifications ...AirDroid, but it is not as seamless as I'd like What other software could I try? I want it to "just work". I want to turn my laptop on and have my notifications sync without interactions or inconvenient troubleshooting [link] [comments]

If I wiped everything on my hard drive, including windows, would I be able to reinstall it? Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:18 AM PDT It is a long story on why this may be my last resort, nonetheless I'm curious as to what the outcome would be. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Aug 2020 04:58 PM PDT As the title suggests. I just reinstalled windows 10 Home and now every time I turn my computer on it makes me put in a password or a pin. I want it to just go straight to home screen. How can I do this? I find it extremely frustrating that it just can't be done easily. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:48 AM PDT I have a machine that I use as a home server. It runs Windows 10 Pro, with Hyper-V enabled, hosting several Debian 10 VMs. The server has 26TB of storage drives in it, that I use mainly for media storage, backup, general file storage. The main functions are that I host a Plex server, a Zoneminder server and I run PiHole, each on their own VM. I'm also running a couple of VMs for OpenVPN, though that's not yet configured. I'm running Windows 10 2004. I update it regularly. The VMs are all connected to the rest of my network through the same cable, and I have my router reserving IP addresses for each. The issue I have is getting my hosted VMs to access the file storage on the server. I'm using windows sharing, so cifs to connect. As far as the VMs are concerned, everything is just another machine on the network. I had all of this working, authenticating using my windows credentials, and it worked well for about a month. Then recently, my hosted machines have lost the ability to connect to the shared drives. These drives host hte media files for my Plex server, and my Zoneminder server stores recordings on another shared drive. I have no idea why it stopped working, so I'm looking for ideas of how to troubleshoot this. The system is running on a Asrock motherboard with dual NICs, an i9-9900k cpu, with 32GB of ram. It has 2 8TB HDDS, that serve as the main media storage drive with another for a sort of backup. Windows boots from a m.2 SSD, and the VMS boot from a SATA SSD. There is a 2TB HDD for Zoneminder to save recordings. 3 of the drive sare shared, and I can access all of them from my Windows Laptop, but suddenly, most of the Debian VMs cannot. This morning, I fired up the Zoneminder VM again, only to discover that it can access the media share, but it can't access the drive it writes to. The Plex server can't connect at all to the media share, though they both have the same configuration in their respective fstab files. I update all of these systems at roughly the same time, so it seems the issue could be related to my network, the Windows side, or the Debian side. I am going to post this in both /r/Windows and /r/Debian to see who can help me out first! [link] [comments]
Is there a way to use 2 keyboards with different languages? Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:11 AM PDT I would like to use my native keyboard QWERTY with many diacritical letters, but I was also learning German for quite some time now and it would be so easier for me to have both keyboards working at the same time. Now Im using German keyboard while learning, but because of that I make so many mistakes in my native language that it hurts my eyes. Is there a way to not constantly change between languages in windows or even better is there a way to have both keyboards working at the same time? [link] [comments]

Can I install Windows 10 onto a 64 gb MicroSD Extreme Plus? Posted: 27 Aug 2020 09:27 PM PDT Long story short, I just finished building my gaming PC and I am ready to install windows onto my PC. However, I lost my usual USB Flash Drive and don't have any others. I do have a 64 gb MicroSD Extreme plus card, which I can plug into my microSD to USB-C cable I have. Is this possible? Converting thousands of Outlook item / Email files to PDF. Is there a better way? Posted: 28 Aug 2020 02:34 AM PDT I have been given a project from work to convert all the email files or Outlook Item files to PDF. This has to do with an upgrade or change to our systems that means all outlook item files will no longer be accessible. The current process I have been using is going through each folder (and there are so many of them with each folder having many more inside) and looking for any outlook item files. When I come across one I Open > Print > Print to PDF > Choose the right folder > Save > Delete the Outlook Item files now the PDF is in there, and then continue looking through the folders. This has been taking a ridiculous amount of time and I just realized I can search the entire drive by extension type. I searched 'ext:.msg' and there are over 22,000 outlook item files left to convert. Is there any other way that I can do this that would be quicker. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Aug 2020 08:27 AM PDT I have an arcade that is running on Windows 10. I hid the windows logo on start up and also hid the user profile picture when logging in automatically. I have not been able to find a way to hide the spinning wheel and username though. It is very distracting when it pops up. Is there any way to remove these? Thanks. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:51 AM PDT My gaming PC needs around 30 seconds or more to boot up. Windows is installed on my 500GB Samsung SSD. Specs:16GB RAM, Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 2070 Super. I use autostart only for important task. Is there a way to reduce my boot time and how good or bad are 30seconds? [link] [comments] |
