Where can I find ISOs for Windows software that's safe to download? Posted: 28 Jul 2020 06:56 PM PDT I'm trying to run a new mod that came out for Minecraft which allows you to run a virtual box through the game, however I have no clue where to find ISOs for windows OS's. I don't want to just grab one off a random site and ruin my computer. Could someone here help please? [link] [comments]
Help with unlocking windows 7 on hp Posted: 28 Jul 2020 06:49 PM PDT I've come across my old computer tower and I am unable to remember my password from 10 years ago. I do not have the recovery disc. There are sentimental pictures on there of loved ones who have passed and I would really like to access them. I've watched some YouTube videos without success. Anyone able to help?! Just always automatically accept notifications? Posted: 28 Jul 2020 12:04 PM PDT Hey, I've been using the in-built local sharing function between Windows machines a lot lately, it's a convenient and fast way to stransfer smaller files between systems as I'm often transferring between stationary computers with my mobile laptop. My only caveat is that I have to always manually accept the file transfer, and I wanted to ask whether it would be possible to desgin a script or a third-party software so that it can react to the notifications and immediately accept them. I suppose there is no native funtion for this, due to understandable security concerns. But does anyone know about any other software for which I could script some sort of event like this? How to switch virtual desktops on a single monitor only? Posted: 28 Jul 2020 02:55 PM PDT I have 2 monitors, and I am looking for a way to switch to another virtual desktop, but only on one monitor at the time. Like on a mac. I am often working on something on may main monitor, and then use multiple virtual desktops on my second monitor, to have more real estate. Is that possible somehow? Maybe with 3rd party apps? Accidentally Performed Clean/Convert MBR on Wrong Disk Posted: 28 Jul 2020 05:41 PM PDT Hey guys, Kind of freaking out because in the process of trying to fix a 0xc0000001 no-boot error I accidentally typed the wrong disk letter when performing "CLEAN" and "CONVERT MBR". I created a bootable Win10 USB to use the command prompt to make Win10 bootable again. My SSD is no longer listed as a disk I can boot from, just shows all 256GB as unallocated. I have not sent any further commands as "bootrec" commands no longer work as my SSD doesn't show up anymore. I tried googling how to restore the partitions but the only thing I've come across is paid software that I am unsure will be able to resolve my issue. Please help! This is my wife's laptop and she has lots of original digital designs and pictures. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Is there a full documentation of UIFILE used in Windows internal files? Posted: 28 Jul 2020 06:48 PM PDT Lots of years ago, I modified logonui.exe files based on trial and error and based in another logons. I always wanted to know which things I could do with UIFILEs, but I never found anything official. Is there a place which I can learn more about it? Here's an example of how Windows XP logonui.exe was stylized https://pastebin.com/UXWTMs9F [link] [comments]
Preventing mouse from waking windows from sleep. Posted: 28 Jul 2020 06:46 PM PDT I have a Dell XPS 13 and a Logitech M720 Triathlon mouse. I want to use only the keyboard to wake the computer from sleep not the mouse, otherwise I accidentally wake it when the mouse moves in the slightest. When I attempt to go to the hardware properties of the mouse there is no power management tab.. what do I do? [link] [comments]

Activating windows 10 pro on new PC Posted: 27 Jul 2020 11:31 PM PDT Hi, I'm asking this question on behalf of a friend who just built his PC. He used windows media tool to install an unactivated version of Windows 10 pro. What steps does he take to activate it? The Microsoft website and chat bots haven't been very useful. How does he go about activating it? [link] [comments]

Windows 10 column view? Helping a mac user who recently converted. Posted: 28 Jul 2020 11:02 AM PDT I've found ones in the past but my god were they ugly. Is there a simple plugin for Explorer itself that will allow this functionality? (Got to admit its my main pet peeve with windows as well) Any help is appreciated, thanks. EDIT: I'd prefer not to change the whole Explorer to make it look like a mac. Just a simple plugin that is integrated and looks seamless. Hopefully that makes sense. [link] [comments]
Windows changing settings randomly????? Posted: 28 Jul 2020 07:44 PM PDT First it was my power button on the start menu saying "there are currently no power options available" now its my task manager not showing on alt control delete and when i manually started task manager it said that the administrator disabled it. I fixed both of these issues separately but is there a larger issue here that i'm not seeing? [link] [comments]

Windows Defender does not show the detected item's file path. Posted: 28 Jul 2020 01:15 PM PDT Windows Defender scan detected two files that it decided to quarantine. The first was my completely unmodified HOSTS file. I remade the HOSTS file, but there shouldn't have been anything wrong with it anyway. The second file is unknown. I don't know what it is because there is no path to the file in the details given in the History tab. How can I find out the path of this file? I restored the file and ran another scan and now there are no detections. Was this just a false positive? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jul 2020 12:46 PM PDT By default, my new second monitor with the same resolution as my main laptop screen is looking rather opaque and the colors seem slightly off. When I switch to 'Duplicate'-Mode in WIN + G, the second monitor adjusts itself after one second and colors as well as brightness are way better. However, this lasts only as long as I do not start a game, restart the PC, switch to 'second screen only' mode or disconnect the second monitor. Does anyone have a clue what the issue here could be? Edit: In case it matters, the monitor is connected via HDMI [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jul 2020 02:54 PM PDT Hi guys. I have a problem with my laptop that's been driving me nuts since 2 days ago. I was playing videogames and firewall asked me to give permission to this: @{Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_1000.18362.1.0_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy?ms-resource://Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin/resources/PackageDisplayName} I have absolutely no idea what it is. I made the mistake of accepting because every time I install a new game from Steam firewall asked for permission, so I clicked out of habit and because I was doing a quest at the moment. Google it and didn't find anything consistent enough to give me an answer. One post says it's malware, the other says it's something from Windows and so. The thing is: after I run Malwarebytes, Avast and even ESET online, nothing came up BUT Windows update doesn't work anymore. It downloads but doesn't install upgrades. Besides, my laptop became extremely slow when I open any browser. I tried Windows Upgrade Assistant but did the same thing (downloaded and not installing). It even give an error and went back to the previous version. So, does somebody knows what that is? How can I fix this? Thanks. Sorry about typos, English is not my first language. Windows Hello stuck on 'making sure it's you' Posted: 28 Jul 2020 12:32 PM PDT I am running Windows 10 on a Razerblade 15'. Windows Hello will initiate the camera/IR sensor. The text will change from 'looking for you' to 'making sure it's you' but will stay on that text indefinitely until I have to login via another method. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you. Win 7 Pro, need driver utility to save current drivers to USB in prep for clean install Posted: 28 Jul 2020 05:52 PM PDT I will be doing a clean install on a older win 7 pro machine. I don't have copies of any driver utility software. Can someone recommend a driver utility that will copy the drivers (specifically the network card) to USB? Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Jul 2020 01:30 PM PDT It's quarantining my hosts file, replacing it and lost all of my blocking data and now I have to do it all over again. Brilliant job from Windows here. [link] [comments]

Installing Windows NT 4.0 onto a CD-ROM Posted: 28 Jul 2020 01:02 AM PDT So, yeah. As a random Nerd Project I thought I might try to install Windows NT 4.0 onto a CD-ROM/CD-RW I'm not exactly sure which. The install size is in the 500MB region so it'd fit onto the CD, but after looking at an install tutorial, I haven't seen a way to install the OS onto something other than the hard drive. (No SSDs here, unfortunately) but anyway, would it be possible and if so, how would I do it? [link] [comments] |
