Google Photo is driving me crazy. Android Apps

Google Photo is driving me crazy. Android Apps

Google Photo is driving me crazy.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 01:52 AM PST

    Hi everyone!

I've got a Xiaomi Mi A1, an Android One phone, unrooted.

Two weeks ago I noticed my battery drainig quickly for several consecutive days: my phone was dying in 6 hours top. I found out Google Photos (which is installed as system app on this phone) was stuck on "Preparing Backup" and that was it: it would not backup anything, it would not stop "preparing" and would consume my battery even when the option to upload with cellular data was disabled. The only thing I'm backing up is my camera folder, nothing else.

I tried uninstalling all updates, clearing cache and storage for the app and I managed to make it say "221 items left to backup" (my app is not in English, sorry if this is not a completely correct translation)... but to no avail: it would not move from 221 items. No backup yet.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the discrepancy between the photos on my device and the photos already backed up is like 30, not 221. Not even close.

I tried unistalling it via ADB, then reinstalling it: no cookie.

I tried rebooting in safe mode to see if the problem was still there and it was: no cookie.

I tried logging off and back in again, tried disabling and re-enabling every feature I could find in Options and no cookie.

    Any ideas?

    Floating browser with media/video detection?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 09:11 AM PST

I need a browser with floating bubble feature (like fb messenger chat heads) but also with media detection for downloading videos and a good built-in adblock and blocking pop ups.

I currently use amaze browser but its adblock sucks. It doesn't block any pop ups or ads. Another bug is this browser also closes itself when changing from bubble to full browser mode.

Please suggest an alternative for it. Exactly like i described. Amaze browser with functioning adblock and no bugs.

Looking for a basic video editor

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 12:53 PM PST

All I want to be able to do is adjust contrast and brightness and crop the video. I'd like to be able to preview the whole cropped video, and not have any watermarks on it.

The smaller the app, the better. The fewer other extra features, the better.

Oh, and I would like it to keep the original ratio the file was recorded in, or be able to crop how I want.

So crop, in terms of aspect ratio/size, but also length of video.

How much time to see app in searches?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 02:13 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

I was always wondering how much time does it take to see an app in Google Play searches after the release. I completely understand that it depends on the keywords, optimization, etc. and it is very different for each app. However, could you provide at least examples of your app, keyword and how much time it took for you to appear in top X place in the search results.

I am asking this because I have recently released a new app, and I just have no idea how much time and effort I need to make to appear in some searches. I would love to predict or calculate it somehow as I am not even sure, maybe it is quite impossible to make it popular and I should just give up?

    Thanks a lot.

£4.14 of expiring play store credit, Recommendations?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 10:28 AM PST

I've made a good amount of money using google rewards on my phone but I bought most of what I could think of wanting but this is about to expire and I don't want it to go to waste. Any recommendations for applications? I'm in need of a good Podcast app and to fill out any emulators I don't have along with some productivity apps but honestly I'll look into all recommendations given to me.

Are there any apps that can recover SD card files?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 10:25 AM PST

I've downloaded about 10 apps so far and no app seems to do anything. Anyone know of any Android apps that will actually restore deleted data from a sd card on an android phone? I just deleted the files a few days ago and have no written anything to the SD card since that day.

    Facebook Messenger App

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 07:55 AM PST

Before the major update of Facebook's messenger which included overall UI change, dark mode, ombre conversation colors, and etc. Messenger allowed people to pin their conversations to the top of the conversation list, but after the said major update we can't do that, or I can't do that anymore, is it still possible to pin messages? when I long press the specific conversation it does not show me 'Pin Conversation' unlike before. are there beta testers and devs here that could answer me? thanks!!

Apps with "Auto" filter from Google Photos

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:13 PM PST

I've been pretty satisfied with the Auto filter on GPhotos. What do people here think about it? Any better, similarly simple alternatives? I know some love Snapseed but the fact that it hasn't been updated for 1.5 years now concerns me. I'd also like to move away from Google products.

Looking for a sound mixer app

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 12:51 AM PST

So I have been really bugged that phones in general don't have a proper sound mixer. Right now I do lots on my phone and I have really been getting in to podcasts. I want to listen to them and play games at the same time. Some games have volume sliders built in so I can make the game quieter then my podcasts.

I know Samsung devices have SoundAssistant witch dose give this ability to change the sound lvl of an app independent of the main volume of the phone.

Dose anyone know of an app that would do this on any Android device? Thanks for your time.
