Posted: 13 Dec 2019 02:51 AM PST I recently found that my Dell Inspiron 7559 isn't recognising it's GPU, I've tried driver updates but Nvidia keeps declining as they can't recognise their hardware, it shows up in device manager if I go to view and press show hidden devices. What should I do to fix this please help [link] [comments]
Laptop suggestion, quality, i7, 16bg+, NUMPAD Posted: 13 Dec 2019 07:39 AM PST Hi everyone, It's been a while since I've bought a new laptop, I've been using old t440/t540 thinkpads from craigslist for a while. My current t440 is a little small for my purposes, and I miss having a number pad. I was about to buy another t540p with an i7-4900, 16gb ddr3, nVidia gt730m since it's pretty well powerful enough for what I need and they can be had for sub $300, but then I thought maybe I should look at newer offerings as I wouldn't mind something more future proof. I've always been partial to Asus and Lenovo for laptops, and always avoided Dell, Hp, Toshiba, etc for build quality issues, but it seems HP and Dell are fairly popular even among professional users. That and some of the ultralight/ultrabooks actually have some muscle now... So I'm looking for suggestions. The Asus Zenbooks look decent... Looking for a good i7, 16gb or more of memory, and preferably dedicated graphics for some light gaming and CAD modeling. Good keyboard and good battery life are musts, and would prefer something decently light, maybe with an illuminated keyboard. I want to stick with a 15" class laptop, and must have a number pad. Will be used as an all around machine, but will likely be running multiple VMs at times, sometimes compiling code, etc. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Looking to get accessories for a XPS 13 (9380) Posted: 13 Dec 2019 01:58 PM PST Just got in XPS looking to see what protective things I should get really. I'm not prone to breaking things but I have the motto of better be safe than sorry. Thinking about a hardshell, some type of screen protector not sure if the privacy ones really do much, and a keyboard protector. What are your thoughts? Overkill or do I need something else? What are you running on your laptop? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Dec 2019 01:55 PM PST Hi. I've been looking for a laptop for uni, and the two I found are almost the same specs, but the processors are different: one is Ryzen 7 3700U (Zenbook 14) the other is i5-1035G1 (HP 15s). Which of these two will be faster and last for longer? Also, can you recommend me some laptops for University? (With long battery life and good processor) Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 12:56 PM PST Ive got a paranoia question: Just got this new laptop, and i was showing my friend the backlit keyboard feature (the steelseries color options). They asked if they could press keys and for some reason they decided to press their entire weight on the keyboard with their entire hand and then slapped the keys a few more times for good measure. Then, when i went back to my google doc, the number "3" started repeating endlessly, and even started typing on new tabs i switched to. I restarted my laptop and it stopped repeating, but i looked up this issue online to see what went wrong, and im worried this might indicate hardware issues? Should i be on the lookout? I Literally just got this laptop, and i dont want this to mean its already broken, or that my friend broke it a little. [link] [comments]

Laptop hard drives recommendations Posted: 13 Dec 2019 11:34 AM PST Yesterday i picked up an Acer Nitro 5 that has a 300GB SSD in it, it also has a spot for a secondary hard drive. After a bit of research I'm looking at a SeaGate BarraCuda 1TB drive which seems to be pretty good for the money but T'm just wondering if there might be anything better out there. Posted: 13 Dec 2019 07:19 AM PST Hi guys, I'd appreciate your opinion on a very mind boggling predicament I've found myself in. Given the choice between an Alienware m15 r1 and an Alienware m17 r1 (2018 pre legion design) at practically the same price and specs. Which one would you buy? Insights on battery life, "real feel" weight (1 lbs difference), personal experience would be very helpful. I'd be using it to primarily run games on an external GPU + external 2-3x monitor setup at home and writing buggy programs at starbucks. Should I go for portability.. or the larger but bulkier screen option? Normally, it'd be a no brainer to go for the 17 inch at the same price, however my gaming application and usage makes it a bit more complicated, considering my current laptop is an XPS 15. Posted: 13 Dec 2019 10:50 AM PST Hey, I just came home from university for my weekend and forgot my laptop's charger... I have one here from an old Asus gaming laptop, in the back of the laptop it says "19V - 4.74A,90W" so I assume it's charger has those specs too, and I want to use it on my current Asus Laptop that says on the back "19.5V - 9.23A,180W". Is it safe to use the older PC charger on this laptop, it's only for 2 days. I haven't tested it because I'm scared of what can happen. I'm not sure if this is the right Reddit page to ask this, but if you know one better tell me. Thanks in advance :) [link] [comments]
Questions to boot windows from USB on Crucial MX500 SSD Posted: 13 Dec 2019 10:37 AM PST Hello, I'm about to go to an internet cafe in order to download the windows 10 64bits boot files to put on a new USB drive, and hopefully install windows on a new SSD MX500 The problem is that I dont know which format I should choose for the files, since apparently it depends on the hard drives "partition scheme"? Apparently one of the format is UEFI, and there are two others? I really dont know what all this means, but is there a way to know which files format I should choose? Also, in case this new ssd wont revive my old laptop, I plan on installing it on a new laptop. Is it wise to install windows and write on the ssd with the drivers associated with the old laptop, is it an easy fix to transfer it to the new one after its written on? The laptops are not the same model, the old one being an MSI GE62 and the new one a Lenovo Legion Y540 Thank you [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Dec 2019 10:31 AM PST Hello, I am a student. Currently studying a double major in telematics and Aerospace engineering. I am looking for a new laptop. I have been researching and I've reached two contenders, the MSI prestige 15 and the Asus zenbook 15. They have basically the same specs, the only difference is that one has an Intel core i7 10710u(6cores) and the other has intel core i7 10510u(4cores). For my situation, which involves programming and using engineering software which would be better, 4 cores or 6 cores? Thanks in advance!! [link] [comments]
Laptop for basic purposes for a student Posted: 13 Dec 2019 10:30 AM PST Hello everyone! I don't know anything about laptops or hardware, my current laptop has Windows 7 and I've been using it for almost 7 years now. I really need an affordable upgrade. I only want the basic things - Windows, able to run MS office, good speed and maybe able to play DotA on it (not a priority). Anything around 30k rupees (living in India) would be affordable for me. Please help me. Not really sure how to go about this. [link] [comments]
Best Laptop Stand Recommendation? Posted: 13 Dec 2019 10:19 AM PST Hello! I'm looking for the best stand/recommendations for my Razerblade 15. I do have some criteria and requests. I have a very small desk so it needs to have some space underneath to fit things when not in use such as a 60% keeb and mouse (the keeb night need to be slightly under it at all times). It also needs to have enough platform space under the laptop to fit a cooling pad or have one built in. These following criteria aren't necessary but would be great: - RGB Lighting - Some sort of USB hub/connection system Thanks a bunch! Want something good quality that will last. Posted: 13 Dec 2019 07:59 AM PST Hey guys, my helios 500 has this thing called PredatorSense and the first time I downloaded my drivers, the app wouldnt tell me my GPU percent usage and temp. I reinstalled drivers and restarted the laptop, it showed the percent and temp again. But on Fortnite, I cap my FPS to 144. The CPU and GPU usage is only around 60% 80⁰C. Is this normal? If I uncap the FPS, the usage goes to 80% 300+FPS. I just need to know if this is normal for a CPU based game like Fortnite. (Oh yeah forgot to say I use lowest settings with epic distance) [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Dec 2019 07:23 AM PST Does this seem like a deal that won't repeat itself? Or are there typically similar/better laptop deals out there? (I'm a pretty basic user -- many simultaneous Chrome tabs/windows, YouTube video watching and music streaming, and possibly some light gaming. That's about as intensive as it gets.) Posted: 13 Dec 2019 05:42 AM PST Like the title said, my Aspire 5315 is having issues. It doesn't start up normally with the loud sound and the little underscore in the left upper corner before starting up is not flickering anymore. I think it has something to do with the laptop being overheated? If so, how can i cool it down? It also turns off before starting windows. I use windows 7. By the way, excuse any grammar mistakes. English is not my first language Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Must have accessories for my Razerblade 15? Posted: 13 Dec 2019 04:24 AM PST I've had my Razerblade 15 for around 6 months now and am looking to get some accessories for it (besides big things like mouse, keeb, minister, etc.). I know I want to get some sort of stand but that's about it. So, what would y'all say are some of the best accessories for a Razerblade 15 or laptops in general? [link] [comments] |
