Posted: 02 Dec 2020 09:47 AM PST This happened around 3 hours ago. I let it cool down slowly without putting it in the freezer or anything like that. It's not responding to plugging in the charger at all. When I try to turn it on I see a white line blink on the screen. I tried to hold the power button and the volume button but still didn't work. I am very grateful I am aware this could have gone really badly. I usually never sleep with my phone on the bed. Did my phone die? or is there anything I can do? Edit: It didn't respond to plugging the charger (adapter) all day but the moment I connected it to my laptop it started charging. [link] [comments] |
Samsung Galaxy S20 5V UW Cannot Install Android 11 Posted: 02 Dec 2020 08:38 PM PST When trying to update to Android 11 my phone failed and gave the following message: Update Unsuccessful Error Code: 553 And subsequent attempts to update have failed. I tried but could not find a website that recommends what to do for my case or explains the error code. [link] [comments] |
Question about "Android System" and "smart clean" Posted: 02 Dec 2020 05:35 PM PST So, about a week or so ago I started receiving notifications from "cleaning housekeeper". I tried googling it, but the name is so broad that, well, you can imagine it lead me nowhere useful. The notification said something about phone slowing down and so on, exactly as I've seen potential malware popups say in the past. I figured out I can pull up info from the notification. So, I waited for it to pop up again. I couldn't find it anywhere on my phone, so I was pretty much forced to. Eventually, it popped up and I hit the information button and gathered that it was from an app called "Android System". Going under the "notification" option, it yeilded the "smartclean" tag; all lowercase letters, exactly as I've quoted. What is this? Is any of this legit? If not, how do I get rid of it? I have some screen shots, but I'm not sure how to share them on this website. [link] [comments] |
My Galaxy S9+ vibrates every 15 seconds while charging and on a phone call at the same time. Posted: 02 Dec 2020 07:24 PM PST Phone is buzzing every 15 seconds or so while on a phone call and charging at the same time. Please help, this is driving me crazy. [link] [comments] |
Samsung Galaxy A01, Samsung Notes, Other Bugs Posted: 02 Dec 2020 11:01 PM PST Today I got fed up with 14gb of my storage being taken up by "other", with only around 7-8 of it being System Apps, so I tried my damnedest to find a way to back up my samsung notes to ensure I would not lose them. I backed them up in multiple different ways just in case, and then I factory reset my phone. After booting it back up and entering my accounts, letting it set and download my apps, backup, alarms, etc. I couldn't find the Samsung Notes App, and finding it in the Google Play Store brings up "Your device isn't compatible with this version." So, I factory reset once more (the app did come installed on the phone when I got it), and it is still not there, and I'm still receiving the same message. I tried downloading an APK from uptodown, trying to sideload an older version into my phone, to be continuously met with "App not installed." I've tried APK installers, disabling google play store protection, restarting the phone multiple dozen times, and I'm at my wits end. I'm at my wits end and at this point it's a pride thing, I want my notes back, as they should have never been snatched from me in such a way. I have them backed up to another phone, and I really do not feel like manually typing them, and cannot find a way to bring them up as plaintext documents on my computer. Any help would be very appreciated, thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
Video not working for my android device Posted: 02 Dec 2020 05:00 PM PST It works for youtube, but not twitter or messenger. It doesn't work on chrome either. I've tried resetting cookies, cache and data. I've tried resetting my device and installing a new browser. Please help with advice. [link] [comments] |

Would restoring a stock ROM get rid of OS errors that keep popping up? Posted: 02 Dec 2020 08:12 PM PST I apologize if this isn't the right place, but I wanted to get my first phone back in working condition. I know it isn't a great phone, it's quite low-end, but I loved it when I had it. I quit using it when I would get pop-ups saying stuff like "com.system.android has stopped working" or "Google Play Store has quit working" and you'd hit Ok or Cancel and it would pop up again just a second later. And if it ever went away, it came back up after you tried to launch an app. In short, it's unusable. The phone was a ZTE Z740, and I found this forum talking about a custom and stock ROM for it. Luckily, the download links are still up 6 years later. Would restoring the stock ROM restore the phone to a usable condition? [link] [comments] |
Can I ban messages with a particular word? Posted: 02 Dec 2020 06:13 PM PST Edit: sorry, I should have typed "containing a particular word." Google Pixel 3a, android system up to date as of today. I don't know what the person before me did (or had done) with this phone number, but I get a RIDICULOUS amount a spam messages. Seriously at least a couple every hour between 8 a.m. and 12 a.m., whereas I used to get none with my old number and very few spam calls. The thing is, about 90% of them address her by name, so I'm hoping I can just block her name and cut the spam down significantly. Is this possible? I'm so sick of this crap. [link] [comments] |
Overriding the Do Not Disturb doesnt work for an app Posted: 02 Dec 2020 06:01 PM PST I need a certain app(YCC 365) to be able to override the Do Not Disturb of my Samsung S8. When checked in app settings, it doesn't have that option. Is there an alternative way of doing that? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Dec 2020 05:51 PM PST Coming from Oreo the splitscreen functions on android 10 are terrible. May be there is a workaround but I can't find it. When I open a new app in splitscreen it opens on the bottom part of the screen. But what to do if I want to keep the bottom app and switch to another app in the upper part? With Oreo that was no issue. You just clicked on the window you want to be active and chose another app. The way it works on android 10, it seems to be completely useless. Actually it starts to be that way in Android 10. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Dec 2020 05:47 PM PST So I got my new Poco X3 NFC today and switched my micro sd card from my old phone to it. Now my .nomedia folder dissapeared and yes I have show hidden files on. Can anyone help? [link] [comments] |
Enable/Disable Lockscreen Notifications for Specific Apps Posted: 02 Dec 2020 05:16 PM PST Hi guys, I switched from Miui 12 (Android 9) to stock Android 10. In miui, i had better notification settings like enabling/disabling lockscreen notifications for specific apps. To be more descriptive, i don't want to see any notification on my lockscreen except whatsapp and instagram notifications. But also i want to see all notifications in notification center when device is locked on. Is there any setting to handle that? [link] [comments] |
After I used "migrate data" to my SD card, all my files disappeared! Posted: 02 Dec 2020 04:59 PM PST Before, the SD card was nearly empty. After "migrate data", the SD card now shows 15gb used space (in Storage Settings), but aside from some pictures and app files, there's nothing there. My videos and books are gone, and there's certainly nothing that adds up to 15gb. The internal storage was almost full (28gb / 32gb), and now... Storage Settings shows it as still almost full (28gb), but File Manager+ says there's only 18gb there. In Storage Settings, it says I have 6gb of videos on internal storage, but when I tap that, nothing is there. My downloads and documents folders are completely wiped out. What I've tried so far:
The motherboard in my desktop PC recently failed, so I can't take advantage of any Windows-based solutions. I don't have an SD card reader, anyway. Note: Every time I start my phone, it gives me a notification that an SD card is not installed, but that notification quickly goes away as soon as the home screen loads. I never thought it was a big deal until now. Relevant, perhaps? I've spent the last two hours on Google and I'm tearing my hair out. The lost videos are not a massive concern, but I had a couple hundred e-books that will be difficult to replace. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Impossible to set any form of screen lock after rooting with Magisk Posted: 02 Dec 2020 07:56 AM PST SOLVED - The solution was deleting keystore.mdfpp.so and keystore.msm8953.so from /vendor/lib/hw, the screen lock pattern works perfectly now. As the title says. I have flashed TWRP, Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_08.18.2019.zip , and the latest Magisk.zip from GitHub, I'm on Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2018 SM-T590, T590XXU3CTI4 (Android 10). The screen lock simply doesn't get saved, also after a restart, the tablet goes into a bootloop, reaches lock screen and goes back to Samsung logo infinitely. Restoring a /data backup in TWRP solves the bootloop, but still, it's impossible to set a screen lock. I have tried changing /efs folder's permissions to 775 / 777 as suggested here: [LOGCAT] Can't set any secure screen lock | XDA Developers Forums (xda-developers.com) That method failed too, the permissions simply get reset to 771 after a restart, doesn't matter what I do. Also, I get tons of error messages in logcat, like 100-200 / second from diagmonagent, crypto, keystore, security, keymaster, etc. Any ideas on how to solve this? [link] [comments] |
Old album art not deleting. Can't find them saved anywhere. Posted: 02 Dec 2020 04:29 PM PST So as the title suggests, I'm having a problem with very old album art. I listen to several daily/weekly podcasts. A few of which will use different album art for each episode. This is where I'm running into the issue, it basically remembers the very first album art ever used for that artist and will not change no matter what I do. I've gone through my entire phone and cannot find the old art anywhere, so I'm not even sure where they are being loaded from. I'm using the default music player on an S9+. [link] [comments] |
Previously connected devices in Bluetooth settings Posted: 02 Dec 2020 04:23 PM PST In Bluetooth settings you can click "see all" to find the right Bluetooth device. But the few ones listed as previously connected devices is random Bluetooth devices and not most recent any ideas how to get change this shortlist? [link] [comments] |
Looking for a way to block access to apps for at certain times of day rather than by usage duration. Posted: 02 Dec 2020 04:10 PM PST Currently I'm relying on Samsung's digital wellbeing, but finding it kind of annoying that my only option is to block access to things like YouTube for certain amounts of time like 30 minutes a day for example. What I'd really like is some way to block access from like 9am-5pm while I'm working or 7am to 8:45 (so I don't risk being late) etc. So if anyone is aware of anything I can use on a non-rooted Samsung galaxy s10 plus running android 10/ one UI 2.5 on Verizon that would be awesome! This is probably a really dumb question but I need a phone that is "Android 5+" for a certain app... Posted: 02 Dec 2020 03:41 PM PST I'm looking at a Galaxy A11, which says it's "Android 10". So that's obviously 5+, right? Sorry for the stupid question, I just need to double check before I buy. It's for the Oculus Quest 2 app, which says it can run on Android 5+. Thank you. How do I get my previous main menu back? Posted: 02 Dec 2020 02:36 PM PST Are there multiple operating menu modes. Today I got on my phone, pressed the home button and rather than taking me to the app layout it wants me to set a home application to that button. If I want to go to the app layout I'll need to close all my application or back out of most of them. This is incredibly frustrating and I'm wondering if I can change it back. Tried google but didn't find anything. Any help? [link] [comments] |
Android weird Idle Drain - GSam Stats Posted: 02 Dec 2020 02:33 PM PST Well, my phone started to get some weirdly high drain recently. I was used to get around 0,2%/h-0,3%/h. But now, it scalated to up to 0,8%/h, which is quite high considering I use airplane mode overnight. I then discovered Tasker was wakelocking my phone and preventing it from deep dozing. I fixed this doze issue but nu phone keeps discharging at this high rate during idle, which is odd. I collected some data with GSam then, disabling Tasker and with airplane mode on and auto sync off. My phone discharged 3% in a 6h time range. Looking at the stats, I can't seen to point out a culprit for that so I was hoping someone could enlighten me on that if possible. Is my battery degradated at the point it's discharging faster? (my phone is alnost 2y old) GSam stats: https://imgur.com/a/A74N3oK [link] [comments] |
Why doesn't Firefox mobile audio/video blocking work? Posted: 01 Dec 2020 11:10 PM PST The settings have options to disable audio and video play, but they have no effect. Any website can start playing audio with video? Chrome has audio blocking, which seems to work. Is this a known issue? [link] [comments] |
MMS messages only come through in safe mode Posted: 02 Dec 2020 01:36 PM PST My wife and I both have Galaxy s10s. Recently our phones have been a little finicky with MMS messages, especially group messages. For the last few days, my wife hasn't been able to download any mms messages at all. My phone still works. We have the same exact phone model, same exact software version. I looked the issue up online but no setting changes fixed the issue. Finally, I saw the suggestion of starting the phone in safe mode, which fixed the issue. All the messages downloaded instantly! But now I am lost as to my next step. Turning safe mode off makes the messages not work. I understand this means it is an app causing the problem, but how can I track down which app it is? [link] [comments] |

Vibration strength for different social mediaapps? Posted: 02 Dec 2020 11:33 AM PST My Vivo V15 Pro vibrates normally during texts or calls (stock SMS application), but vibrates weakly on third-party social media apps. It's the same for FB messenger, Google messages, Telegram, and many different apps. I often miss notifications because of the weak vibration. Does this have a fix or it is simply faulty app integration and I can't do anything about it? [link] [comments] |
