Eradicating numbers on android?? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 06:25 PM PDT Hi, I haven't been on reddit very long so apologies if 8 mess up the formatting, I am writing this drunk and a little bit upset. I have had a problem with cocaine for about a year now, and I have tried blocking my dealers number 2 or 3 times, the issue is, because he is on my block list, whenever I get drunk, I simply head to my block list and call him up, it has been helpful as I don't get texts telling how good his new coke is, but he is still available anytime I want, due to me being able to access my block list, my question is, has anyone come across a method of completely eradicating someones number from your phone? I have a Huawei p8 lite running android nougat. I am looking to eradicate all incoming texts, and stop me from accessing his number, thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
What is this green icon I get when doing a google search in the Samsung browser? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 02:37 PM PDT http://imgur.com/gallery/mqQSYKT The green cross thing on the tab. It changes to Google once loaded. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
I have a Samsung Galaxy S10. Is there anyway to create my own sticker/stamp packs? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 10:28 PM PDT I really just want to know if there is a way to design/create a sticker pack for the Samsung Video Editor. In the Photo Editor it lets you use pictures from your gallery as stickers. You can't with videos. Is there a way I could generate my own like the ones on the Galaxy Store? The only sticker makers I've found so far are for WhatsApp [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jul 2020 06:15 PM PDT I'm thinking of trying mint mobile instead of straight talk and it says I need an unlocked phone. How can I tell if my phone is unlocked? When it starts up it shows Verizon splash screen, and the model number is vs988 (LG g6). [link] [comments] |
How to Unlock Bootloader on Pixel 4XL Posted: 31 Jul 2020 05:46 PM PDT I have a Pixel 4 XL and its a Verizon phone. I've enabled dev options but I can't select OEM unlock. it says "Unavailable on Carrier Locked Devices". Is there a way around this like on the OG Pixels? [link] [comments] |
What happened to my voice recognition? any way to fix it? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 09:20 PM PDT So, before these last two updates happened my voice recognition was great. I could say, "Hey Google! How do you spell soliloquy?" in the most crowded, noisy room and it'd do fine. Two updates ago I suddenly found that voice recognition barely works anymore. I'll say, shout, and whisper 30+ variations of, "Hey google" at my phone before it'll respond. When it finally does, it barely seems able to interpret what I'm saying despite my living in Michigan where our "accent" essentially involves overpronouncing words. My autocomplete has also suddenly adopted some sort of bizarre PG mode and keeps trying to censor every bit of text I write as well. Even tame words like crap. I could type the word shit just fine before. Now it's suddenly autocorrecting to shift, shill, or literally anything else rather than what I want to say. I love my note 9 but it's gotten irritating to use and I'm wondering both what happened and if there's any way to fix it? I relied on being able to say, for example, "Hey Google, navigate me to the nearest gas station." and having it actually work. Now it's turned me into a road hazard as I have to physically grab my phone to type it all in any time I want to do anything. Even my S5 worked better than this and I'm so confused. Removing Family Link without deleting the Google Account? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 09:07 PM PDT Both of my kids have regular, non-child Google accounts that are managed via Family Link with me as the administrator. It's starting to cause too many problems (for example they cannot use their google accounts on school managed chromebooks, etc) and I want to just disable it and use something else. I see a lot of articles online suggesting that deactivating actually DELETES the google account, which is insane. I don't see any evidence of that in the app, so I am wondering if that only exists for child accounts and not regular google accounts? Anyone else have experience with this? I reaaaaallly don't want to nuke their accounts. [link] [comments] |
Why do new phones still only have USB 2.0? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 12:13 AM PDT I was just checking the specs of the new OnePlus Nord on gsmarena.com and noticed that the spec list USB as version 2.0. Why is that still a thing in 2020? [link] [comments] |
Are there any phones with a matte screen? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 08:25 PM PDT I'm tired of phones with reflective screens. It's really painful to my eyes. [link] [comments] |
An ex-Iphone user that was told there would be ultimate customisation.... Help? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 03:23 AM PDT I wanted to give android a go as I was tired of the old ui of iphone, so I bought a Galaxy 9+ I was constantly given the impression that on android I could customise almost anything yet I am unable to complete the most basic setting changes, such as:
Please help? I'm absolutely amazed by how few options there actually are in the default settings for things like notifications, so I attempted to download a bunch of notification apps but have failed to find any that achieve the very simple tasks i want above. Cheers. [link] [comments] |
earphone sound on samsung sounds off Posted: 31 Jul 2020 08:11 PM PDT my music sounded off while using my earphones, like it was sounded bass boosted so I messed with the advanced sound options in settinfs and now it sounds even more boosted and the song sounds all weird. How do I make the songs etc sound smooth and how they should be? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jul 2020 07:16 PM PDT I dropped my Pixel 3 XL off the side of a boat and now it sits at the bottom of a lake. I got my girlfriend's old Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5. I'm going to use it until the Pixel 5 comes out (although I might get a Surface Duo if the reviews are good.) A Google search tells me I can put Android 10 via Lineage OS 17. Should I do that or should I do something else? Will it make the phone slower? Will it mess up using it with Verizon since it is a Verizon phone? I really like the idea of getting rid of all of the preinstalled Samsung software. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jul 2020 07:10 PM PDT Phone is receiving all my incoming texts. No issues at all with that. When I send out a SMS it says "sent" but the texts aren't getting delivered. If I try to send an MMS it'll come right back and tell me it failed to send. Basically I can't send texts to anyone. Calling is perfectly fine. Honestly everything about the phone is great, except for that. It's been going on for a week. I talked for house with customer service. They did their troubleshooting. They checked all my settings. They connected me to the strongest service. Nothing worked. I did a factory reset. I removed and put back the SIM card. I turned it off and on. I tried using a different texting service than the default app that came with the phone. I'm at a total loss 🤷♂️ [link] [comments] |
Low Bluetooth audio OnePlus 5T Posted: 31 Jul 2020 06:03 PM PDT I have a Onplus 5T running Android 9, and Oxygen OS 9.0.11. A couple of months ago I noticed that the media output was quite low via my Bose Quietcomfort 2s. I now often have to crank up the volume to max to be able to listen to anything properly. I've updated, and tried to mess around with the audio setting both in the OS and on the Bose app. The audio works great via the aux cord, but it's just low on Bluetooth. I've tried to enable the "Disable absolute volume". [link] [comments] |
Phone not receiving texts, but can make and receive phone calls. Posted: 31 Jul 2020 05:23 PM PDT for about a day, my phone has not been able to receive any texts. I can make and receive phone calls and I can send texts. Im using a OnePlus6 running OxygenOS 10.3.4. I have AT&T and live in northeastern US. Ive had the phone for nearly 2 years and have never had issues. I didnt drop the phone or make any changes, downloads, etc. I just stopped receiving out of nowhere, sometime between 5pm and 7pm yesterday. Ive tried: -rebooting -clearing message cache -switching from my messaging app (textra) to the default -resetting APN settings -moving SIM card to other tray (my phone has 2 slots) -updating my android version and updating my texting apps -deleting old messages -different wifi networks/data Ive even tried texting myself to see if Id get it but no luck. verification texts arent received either. Android output in protrait mode? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 04:55 PM PDT Greetings, I'm connecting my phone to an external screen via USB C. I would like the external screen to be oriented in portrait mode, but it will only show in landscape mode with my phone screen very small and centered. Is there a way to force video to output in portrait mode in android? Thanks folks! [link] [comments] |
How do I Retrieve a Phone Number That Wasn't Saved? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 12:22 PM PDT I received a call that I need to return, but unfortunately my phone was off at the time and the call log doesn't have a record of the call or the number. Is there any way I can retrieve the number somehow so I can call the person back? [link] [comments] |

Is it true that android phones become laggy, buggy and glitchy after a few years of use? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 03:39 PM PDT My very first phone was a HTC wildfire and it was a piece of laggy shit and since then my two phones have been an iPhone 6 and an iPhone X. I have been looking at high end androids such as the Huawei P40 and Samsung galaxy S20 and note 20 and they have been interesting me. Plus i wouldn't mind a change of OS. But I don't want to spend £1k+ and it will be shit after a year or two. [link] [comments] |
Android 10 update broke Bluetooth connectivity on my Galaxy A20, what can I do? Posted: 31 Jul 2020 03:11 PM PDT Like the title says, my phone got the Android 10 update last week and since then, Bluetooth has been absolute trash. I can be 1ft away from my phone and the audio will stutter. I've tried forgetting and re-pairing devices, clearing Bluetooth cache and data, changing the codec settings (that automatically reset themselves the moment I change screens). And no, my dev options don't allow me to turn off A2DP hardware offload, the option is greyed out. Am I just full outta luck? [link] [comments] |
How to remove black bars on Android 10 while watching content meant for 16:9 screen. Posted: 31 Jul 2020 06:25 AM PDT I recently switched from an iPad to a Tab S5e and I have no regrets after a week of use. The only issue I've had have been weird color banding on the Play Store, no HDR, and most of all, black bars when watching videos. Including but not limited to YouTube. On Apple if you used any browser that wasn't Safari, you could double tap to "crop in" on the content. Here it just fast forwards. I've tried all kinds of gestures to no avail. Has anyone found a fix? P.S. If you don't know of a fix, I would appreciate if you up-voted the post so it could get more attention. [link] [comments] |
Data recovery from Galaxy S6 Edge+ with broken screen Posted: 31 Jul 2020 09:03 AM PDT Hello! My mom's phone died yesterday. The screen is white with random pixel noise across all of the screen. The signal light is blinking green like a call has been missed or a message has been received. The phone has gesture lock on it, the pattern which I know but can't enter due to screen being broken. Another issue is that to me it seems more than the screen is broken; for example when I connect the phone to the PC, the phone screen does light up, but PC doesn't make the "USB connected" sound. Also, when cable is left in, the phone periodically turns the screen on and off, 6 seconds for on state, then 3 seconds for off state. I was hoping I could use adb to retrieve the pictures and rest of the stuff she left on it, but if I remember correctly I will need to connect the phone while it's turned off and I will have to hold a up arrow or something so it connects in debug mode (excuse me if it's wrong term). The problem is I don't know in which state the phone currently is (on or preparing to boot or just broken, the sim has also been removed while the phone was working because she bought the new phone in the meantime). It would also be great if it could be fixed to a working condition, but retrieving the pictures is more important to my mom. If you need any further info let me know, I will try to fire up odin and see if it recognizes the phone. I know the community prefers users to try something out before asking questions here, but so far I've only installed custom roms on a phone or two of mine and that's it, I know if I do something incorrectly there's a good chance I will wipe or brick the phone so I just wanted to ask before I do something stupid. Kind regards! edit: I installed samsung usb driver and odin, started up odin, but when I connect the phone odin's log is still clear. If I remember correctly it should say a device has been connected so I guess another thing pointing towards dead MB [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jul 2020 02:59 PM PDT I lost one of my original iPods so I'm rocking just one in my left ear. I got those for free but I figure I just bite the bullet and get a replacement pair of Android-specific buds instead. I've had the original Galaxy buds last year and while I loved the form factor on them, no one could hear me on calls so I had to return them. I would hate to get the buds+ and have them be the same or worse with a facemask on. I've read about the pixel buds and I'm interested but feel they look cheap and gimmicky, especially for their price point. I'm usually running around taking calls at work so would love a pair of buds I can plug into my ears and forget about and just have work. Again, given the current pandemic, a set that works with facemasks would be a plus. [link] [comments] |
I'm looking for a way to prevent my phone from downloading an app Posted: 31 Jul 2020 02:31 PM PDT Hello all, As the title says, I'm wondering if there is a way to prevent your phone from downloading an app from the playstore. The method would have to be irreversible, or nearly irreversible (i.e takes significant time), not something simple (i.e parental controls). If you have any ideas please let me know, no matter how technical. The most technical android thing I've done is use adb debugging for some task on an automation app. Your help is greatly appreciated [link] [comments] |
Xiaomi Android recovery n00b help! Posted: 31 Jul 2020 02:31 PM PDT I am experiencing an issue with my Xiaomi Mi Mix 1. So the problem started when i cracked my screen last year and the battery was coming close to its end of life. I replaced the screen and the battery at the local service. Screen was original but the battery was a replacement since i couldnt find an original part anymore. After four months, i noticed that my replacement battery is inflating. However i stupidly continued to use the phone as it was working. The battery went more and more dead until i had to keep my phone on the charger at all times (not smart, i know). I was not using original charger. I dropped the phone at one point and the screen cracked again. The back frame of the phone opened itself from the expansion of the battery but i kept using it. It was in a sorry state. One day the phone shut itself and said bye. As i had a replacement, i kept this one for two months in my drawer as it was. Time skip to earlier this month when i bought a replacement battery (they apparently dont make the original anymore) and went to a local service to change the battery. They did it and the battery charges normally but the phone now only turns on to show logo, then when the Android starts up the phone shuts itself. When i press +,-,Power it shows the screen mipcsuite and when i press -,Power it shows a fastboot icon. They say from the service that the motherboard is gone. I do not think so. The phone would be hardbricked then. I need your help in diagnostics. Im a n00b and my phone is not rooted, had old Android and i think it needs recovery fastboot MiFlash but i do not know how to do it. I need help and advice. Can i save my files on the phone in any way? Is the phone able to work again? Thank you for your time. [link] [comments] |
