| Big thank you to everyone here! Posted: 31 Jul 2020 09:07 PM PDT I just got my redmi note 9s. I saw a lot of posts about bloatware and ads. I got the phone and right away noticed the ads after it transferred everything. I had no trouble removing things and I didn't even have the Mi Browser, only chrome (which was replaced cause I hate chrome on mobile and just in general). I no longer have ads and thanks to the folks with Vanced, learned there was a secret option to find developer options (which I tried to find) and was able to download YouTube Vanced with ease. Only a few apps were incompatible with my device but overall I'm very happy with it. This will definitely make it easier for me when doing doordash and the like. I also noticed the battery is far superior to that of my lg Stylo 5. I'm in America using Cricket wireless - which uses at&t towers. No issues so far except the normal low network signal as per usual in the area I'm in. Honestly if it wasn't for many of you, I'd never had made up my mind. I was hesitant but everything works as I hoped, and the charger it came with was the EU plug but came with an adapter inside the bag the box came in. I don't use the MIUI stock launcher as it looks horrifying and prefer the Nova Launcher Prime by far. The only gripe I really have is the damn phone case it came with lmao. It pretty much just feels like old glue left out and ordered a new case on Amazon. TL;DR - I like cow's milk. Thank you. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 31 Jul 2020 05:04 PM PDT Hey guys. I was wondering, is there anything that can be done to improve my R3S performance? I know it's an old phone, but I almost never update apps (therefore, the apps installed are not that heavy for the phone), and I have few apps installed, but the phone is slowly becoming slower. I had a Huawei but its screen burnt out, so now my phone's a Galaxy S6 (I wish it was the 3S but it's too slow to use as main). Google Earth can barely run for a few minutes and will reduce the free RAM from 1GB to 200mb (never seen the RAM so full in 4 years), messages delays 3+ hours to be sent/received, lag can be seen everywhere. I know the phone is quite old and the memory is eMMC, but I have no money for another phone and the S6 has a damaged battery, therefore it barely lasts 4 hours and takes 3+ to charge (almost unusable too). | 802.11r wifi roaming doesn't seem to work for Mi 9 Posted: 31 Jul 2020 09:51 PM PDT Just enabled 802.11r on my network. Tested extensively with an old iPhone 6s and my current phone which is a Mi 9. iPhone - doesn't need much testing. Played a video while connected to AP #1, while playing I moved to an area out of coverage for AP #1. Movie continued to play. And AP #2 showed it is now connected to the phone. Repeated several times, same result. No problem. Mi 9 - repeated the above test. Video playing stopped, network got disconnected for a couple of seconds before AP #2 picks it up. Problem can be reproduced with the same test 99% of the time (the only time it seemed to have worked was probably just fluke). Searched on the web, seems Android is notorious for 802.11r compatibility, and only a handful of Samsung phones claim to support 802.11r. So... not much I can do to fix this problem, right? | Sick to death of unconfigurable aggressive process killing Posted: 31 Jul 2020 08:51 PM PDT Hi All, Long time Xiaomi fan and user. I currently use a Redmi Note 4X with 3GB RAM. I used to sing Xiaomi's praises and recommend to all my friends, laughing at those fools who purchased Samsung or other over expensive brands. However, at this stage I am about ready to chuck in the towel and move to another brand who does not interfere with phone process management as much, or at least makes it configurable. I am honestly sick to death of having my processes killed. I can't even go shopping and listen to spotify without carefully making sure that I don't have more than 1 app ahead of spotify in the recent apps list, or else MIUI will just kill spotify while I am listening to it. I only seem to be able to have two to three apps open simultaneously before MIUI starts killing things. It kills background processes unnecessarily all the time, and kills foreground processes even if I have them locked, with all the things set that people tell you to set - i.e. no battery optimisation, allow run in background, mucking with dev options to change process limits, etc etc I've tried all the combinations. Before I finally decide that this is no longer acceptable and permanently ditch MIUI and Xiaomi, does anyone have a real answer to this problem? (That isn't "get more RAM") [link] [comments]  | ||

But after reading a few forum posts, mainly Poco haven't sent any to developers, some of the code is still hidden,and also it won't launch in India (where lots of good devs resides) makes me really worried . | Can't delete bloatware with Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools after MIUI 12 update Posted: 31 Jul 2020 01:58 PM PDT Just like in title. My phone is MI9T. I debloated my phone like month ago when I had MIUI 11. Zero problems.now after update to MIUI12 I did factory reset. After that I wanted debloat my phone with Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools but it just doesn't work. I choose apps to delete, click Uninstall. In the status box it says succes, I restart my phone and apps are still there and in Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools they appear as installed again. Any ideas? EDIT: The problem is not with every app of course. Google apps are uninstalled without any problem but some xiaomi apps just appear again after phone reset. [link] [comments]  | ||
