What would cause two keys to only type when the adjacent one is pressed?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 11:44 PM PST

    Hi there,

So, on my laptop I am only able to use my "b" and "v" key intermittently. When they stop working, I am usually able to type either one of them by pressing both of them at the same time. External keyboard works just fine; tried updating all drivers/uninstalling reinstalling keyboard driver to no avail. Am I just going to have to bite the bullet and buy a replacement keyboard and take my whole laptop apart to replace as it's more likely than not mechanical failure at this point?

    Thanks!

    Dell G15 - Shadowing/Artifacts on text & images Windows 11

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 05:43 PM PST

    Hi all,

It's been 2 months or so since I have purchased my new laptop, it is a Dell G15, i7-11800H, 16GB Ram, 1TB SSD. It has a RTX 3060 however the 165hz screen uses the Intel UHD Graphics.

I have recently noticed some strange shadowing/artifacts on webpages/applications as seen in the screenshots below (I'm unsure how long this has been going on for) they seem to be more prominent on darker screens and even with night light enabled you can see them with the orange hue. I am not certain whether this is a software or a hardware issue hence why I am reaching out for any support anyone can give and this will be much appreciated.

I have contacted Dell itself and have gone through all the mundane troubleshooting in which it has been no help. I have updated all drivers on both the Intel side and Nvidia. I have updated BIOS, the screen has no physical damage. The GPU passed a stress test (RTX 3060), I changed the refresh rate on the display & so on but nothing seems to be working.

The issue doesn't seem to occur on whiter screens as much, for example when I was in the BIOS screen I could not see it there.

I played phasmophobia earlier and could notice certain areas where this was occurring although faint, however it did not seem to cause any issues on Black Ops 3.

I should probably also mention that on some instances when using applications, although rare, the screen will flicker to black for a second then come back on, whether this is an application compatibility issue due to Windows 11 again I am unsure of.

Dell has now asked me to revert the system back to a time where it was working in which I cannot recall for the life of me, so it wouldn't fix the issue.

I was wondering if anyone here has experienced this with a Dell Laptop or laptop similar & what they did to fix this/solve it as the last thing I want is to RMA it now.

Please see all the attached screenshots below and if there are any further questions let me know.

I need help unlocking or recovering data from an Android phone.

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 01:48 PM PST

TL;DR I am locked out of my phone, with 3 attempts to enter my password before it factory resets. I need some way to either unlock my phone, or to view/transfer files on it.

    The story:

About a week ago, I changed my password on my phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S10, which lets you have a pattern password. My old password, I realized, was extremely simple (literally just a straight up spiral lol), so I wanted to change it to something more complex and harder to guess, but I went a little overboard and made an overly complex password that I forgot shortly after. I am now locked out of my phone, with 3 attempts left before my phone factory resets and I lose all my data. Of course, I don't want that to happen, as I have a lot of pictures and videos from vacations and such that I would like to keep. It would also be nice if I didn't have to redownload all of my apps, re-sign in to all of my accounts, re-customize my phone, etc.

Random info that may help somehow:

    • My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S10.
    • I have 3 more attempts to enter my password, or my phone will factory reset.
    • I have a 238GB SD card in my phone, but it only has about 1/3 of my pictures on it.
    • I have previously connected my phone to two different computers (via a USB charging cable) to access files on it. I have tried reconnecting it to both computers, but nothing is happening (presumably because I have to unlock my phone to access files on it).
    • I took a screenshot of the new password right after I changed it (not realizing at the time that I cannot view the screenshot if my phone is locked). If I am somehow able to view the screenshot, I can just enter the password shown on it and unlock my phone. The screenshot is not on my SD card (I checked). It should be the most recent file on my phone's internal storage.
    • I have fingerprints set up on my phone, but I have restarted my phone since getting locked out, so they are disabled and it is forcing me to enter my pattern to unlock my phone.
    • If it somehow helps in any way, my bluetooth earbuds still automatically connect to my phone.
    • I'm willing to spend about $300 at most to get back into my phone (meaning that I'm not jailbreaking it or doing some high-tech thing that will cost me thousands of dollars)

What I need (everything that could help me. I'm mainly asking if any of this is possible, and if so, how do I do it?):

    • Some way to force unlock my phone (within my budget)
    • Some way to reset, change, or remove my password
    • Some way to view or access files on my phone, even though it's locked
    • Some way to move files from my internal storage to my SD card, even though my phone is locked
    • Some way to transfer files from my internal storage to anywhere else where I can view or access them, like a computer or USB storage
    • Some way to re-enable fingerprints
    • Some way to test if a password is correct without using one of my 3 remaining attempts
    • Some way to reset the attempt counter, so that I have more than 3 attempts before my phone factory resets
    • Some way to recover data or files after my phone factory resets
    • Anything else that you think may help me

    New SSD boot up issue

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 12:52 PM PST

Hello all I'm having issues booting up my computer properly. I have a Z390 Aorus motherboard and I just tried installing a Spatium M480 SSD into a M2 port on the motherboard (I think that's how you say that). I only had a regular hard drive and never had a SSD attached before I got this one. I placed it on the mother board and booted my computer up, and now I'm stuck on the Easy Mode Aorus screen. I have windows downloaded on the hard drive but it won't launch. There's a tab called Boot Sequence on the bottom left of the screen and it has the SSD and my DVD player (I believe) only there. I don't see my hard drive even though it's attached. I have no clue what the problem is. I tried taking the SSD out but then my graphics card doesn't function properly, so I'm stuck now
