Suspicious file related to touchpad in Windows10 Posted: 12 May 2019 10:36 AM PDT In task manager I found a file I'd never seen before: "HidMonitorSvc アプリケーション" and it is located in the /Program Files/DellTPad/ folder, so it should be related to the touchpad. However in its folder it is shown simply as "HidMonitorSvc.exe". Obviously I use the touchpad every time I use the computer yet this is the first time I see this file in task manager. Wifi connection is turned off when I close my laptop. Posted: 12 May 2019 11:11 AM PDT So, I have my laptop connected to a larger HD screen, using an HDMI cable. Up untill a week or so ago, everything worked fine. Now, however, if the laptop's lid is closed my PC won't connect to the wifi. After some trouble shooting I realized that it's just something to do with the lid, at first I thought it was my wifi extender or the HDMI cable. But if I turn off my laptop screen and leave the HD screen on, everything works fine. It's closing the laptop that does it. As soon as I close my laptop, the connection becomes unavailable. I went on settings and cheked the battery settings etc, everything is how it should be. The option of disconnecting the wifi when the laptop is closed, to save battery, is not ticked. And I've gone through all the screen options and the control panel etc for hours. Everything looks fine, yet the wifi goes way if I close my laptop. Not a hude deal, but I prefer to have my laptop closed and it's just so random. What could it be? Are there settings somewhere else? Could some program or tool be fiddling with my screen settings? Has anyone else had this problem, despite their settings seeming normal? I also downloaded my updates, but no difference. And I did a scan for viruses, which found nothing. It's so werd. Windows keeps trying to update, randomly with no warning at all? PC Posted: 12 May 2019 06:10 PM PDT I have no idea what's happening, but it will try to update, but only flickers between hi and this may take a few minutes, then eventually it will give up for some reason without ever getting past this may take a few minutes. ConEmu split screens Posted: 12 May 2019 07:06 PM PDT I am trying to have split screens when I start ConEmu which I can't seem to figure out. What I'm trying to achieve is when I open up a conmand prompt, I would like a 2x2 screen already in place. I tried configuring a task. I named it 4Panels, I checked the box to use as default, but when I shut down ConEmu and open it again, it just shows a single screen. Windows 7 unable to bootup Posted: 12 May 2019 06:09 PM PDT i was just uninstalling programs and then i tried to restart my computer . i was unable to start up my computer , it would jus crash and restart. unable to do startup repair and was also unable to do system restore. when i tried to use my windows install DVD to repair it said it couldn't because windows versions were different. I also tried bunch other methods from different forums in command prompt to repair but nothing worked. ​ I had a 120GB SSD sitting around so i installed windows 7 again on it then i was able to access my files on my main 2TB hard drive . my question is , is there a way to fix my windows 7 on the original hard drive without deleting everything? maybe like a software i can use to repair my windows install files on my main 2 TB HDD .i cant have two windows 7 on two hard drives on same computer activated. i was actually also planning to get 1TB SSD and putting windows 10 on it to have dual boot system. ​ Ideally i would like to have a computer with two different hard-drives ,each with their own operating systems ​ thanks for reading this , any help would be greatly appreciated submitted by /u/heartless_89 [link] [comments]

Windows 7/10 Live Transfer?? Posted: 12 May 2019 09:59 AM PDT Alright, so I had an idea for my computer. So my old computer is running Windows 7 BUT I want to keep it that way. I also wanted to see what it would be like to have it in Windows 10. I have 2 HDD. One has Windows 7 on it (Let's call it HDD-1) and is empty (Let's call this one HDD-2). What I wanted to do was clone HDD-1 to HDD-2, then upgrade HDD-1 to Windows 10. The real part about this that I want to know is if its possible to have HDD-1 and HDD-2 be in sort of a "live file transfer" to where if I made changes/files on either HDD-1 or HDD-2 it would automatically apply to the other hard drive. Looking for cheap way to run windows 10 drop in Posted: 12 May 2019 05:00 AM PDT Hello, ​ Maybe asking in the wrong place, but looking for some cheap 50-100$ ish device that I can drop into locations for easy remote access to the network. Usually I use the server for my drop in activities so not to mess up any current activities - but some small business just do not need or want a server. In this case, I can always drop in a cheap used computer to do these actions - but I am looking for a smaller foot print that might be a bit more viable in cost to get around the $50-100 range that might be able to run Windows 10-Pro and have enough power to run the browser + my RMM to access local web base devices such as printers, rdp computers, and other network base devices. ​ I was looking at the LattaPanda and Raspberry pi as options - but wanted to get others take on them and see if anyone else found anything better. submitted by /u/Mradr [link] [comments]

Am I too ancient for still using Notepad++? Posted: 11 May 2019 09:12 PM PDT I've been using this editor since like 10 years now, and I'm too attached to it! But these days, I've seen it being highly criticized as folks are favoring other modern editors like sublime, vscode, atom, etc. But the thing is that NPP gives me everything I need, from code-completion to code navigation to tag auto completion in html which is what I need most of the time.
