Would a xiaomi powerbank 3 pro 20000 mAh fry my gopro hero 6?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 04:24 PM PDT

Bare with my inexperience and incompetense please. I would like a powerbank for my gopro(time-lapse) + other devices and like the thought of futureproof with usb C. Also i am trying to take a advice of buying a powerbank that is lager capacity then needed, but an not ooposed to a smaller capacity PB. I am worried that the gopro is gonna fry from the powerbank being overpowered for it. Does that make sense? I cant seem to find info on if the powerbank adjusts its power to the devices maximum. Would appreciate some enlightenment on this matter, thanks

Can gcam work without camera2api enabled?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 08:39 PM PDT

I have a Redmi 5 Plus(worst Xiaomi manufactured phone, regret everyday buying this shit) which does have a SD 625 but the camera2api isn't enabled in the phone. Enabling it requires either root access or flashing it(which can, if not done properly, brick my phone). There certainly is a risk in trying to enable camera2api on the phone, I know how to do it but I'm still afraid if I brick it, so is there any way I can use gcam without enabling camera2api?

Switching from A1 to A3, my short experience report

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 04:17 AM PDT

I upgraded from a 2 year old Mi A1 to the Mi A3 last Friday and it is really nice.

Phone shape is better, more narrow so you can hold it more comfortably.

For the camera I downloaded the latest Gcam build from XDA and the picture quality is way better in comparison to the A1. Only currently you can use the main lens in the back only (or I don't know how to switch it in Gcam) but in a few months I'd expect a proper stable Gcam build on XDA, it's only a matter of time.

Battery and performance are also way better in comparison to A1. Sometimes my A1 felt sluggish when switching or opening some apps and on the A3 it is way smoother.

Only the display resolution is subpar but I got used to it pretty fast. Amoled makes up for it. You see the "pixelation" of text on the display especially when night mode is turned on. Before you buy it I'd check if it can be bought locally and on a display piece see if it would bother you.

I don't use the fingerprint scanner so don't have any experience in terms of how fast it is etc

Problem with the selfie camera of my Mi 9T Pro

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 10:11 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. I received it today and when I unpacked, everything was fine. But then I tried the camera and when I pressed the button to turn the camera around, it gives me the attached message ("Warning: Can't open the front camera. Try again"). I would like to point out that when the message appears, the camera makes a weird noise and also, the camera sometimes manages to work.

So I'd like to know what to do

    Thank you in advance

Xiaomi.eu missing features and not working google pay

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 01:32 PM PDT

As the title says, after getting back to MIUI from Lineage OS I found that I no longer see the option to have notification content hidden until face unlocked. I went to 10.3.6. but I also tried 3.5. and 3.4. without any resolve. Similar issue is not working Google pay. It only says that it cannot be set up to pay in stores, same with trying different versions. No Magisk installed, I just flashed xiaomi.eu rom as I normally would.

Mi 9 Se or Mi 9T (not pro)

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 05:34 AM PDT

My redmi 4's touch screen just died, I and think it's time to buy a new phone, could you please give me some advice? I'm looking for:

    - Durability: I'd like to use a phone for years, no gaming, just web surfing and some popular apps (Grab,..)

    - Stability: not laggy, bugs,.. or anything that require me to restart the phone every few days

    - Camera: photography is my hobby, and I can't carry my DSLR everywhere, so...

Any Mi 9T or 9 SE owners could please give me some short review about these phone? Especially about durability & stability. Thanks so much.

BTW, the K20 model (9T in China) is cheaper than the International version. Are they the same phone, or the Chinese version has lower quality?

    ---

Edit: Thank everyone for suggestion. I might go with the Mi 9T.

    Bluetooth Earbuds Won't Show

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 10:08 AM PDT

Just received my unlocked Mi 9 8GB 128GB yesterday from tradingshenzhen and it's running latest global stable rom MIUI 10.2.13, so far I'm enjoying it. But my main issue is that my Bluetooth earbuds won't show up when trying to pair in settings. My previous phone which was a OP 5t could still detect them, I've attempted a factory reset and even clearing bluetooth data and cache but nothing has worked. Does anyone know how i could try to fix this?

Facebook Messenger comes preinstalled? If not, any issues running it if I install myself

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 02:38 PM PDT

Are there any models that come with Facebook Messenger preinstalled? If I have to install it myself, have people run into any functionality issues using Messenger after installing it yourself? This is a factor in helping me decide which phone I buy. Thanks for any information you can share.

    Customising the Mi A3

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 06:45 AM PDT

    Hello guys,

What are some interesting ways to customise an Android One device? I'm really liking the A3 but it seems a bit too basic, and I'd like to know if there are any (preferably rootless) ways to mod it, at least in appearance.

    Thanks!

Digital Wellbeing's Wind Down function in Redmi Note 7

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 02:02 PM PDT

Ever since the last update, I've set up this function in my RN7 but I've noticed that once the screen goes into gray scale mode, if I lock and unlock my phone, the screen is back to color mode. Is this normal, shouldnt it stay on gray scale until the time set for the Wind Down mode to end?

    I just bought a mi-band 4 without a Android device.. Can I pair it with a PC?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 06:15 AM PDT

Today I bought my mi-band 4, but The problem is that currently, I don't have access to any android device but just my Laptop, I really want to try out my mi-band 4 but there are no emulators that support Bluetooth...Later I tried Installing Android x86 (8.1) in Virtualbox, Got the VM successfully running but then I tried to install the mi-fit app but the app for some heck of a reason is not compatible with my Android x86 VM, I even side-loaded its APK from apkhere.com but it always crashed when every I load the app.

There got to be some way I can use my mi-band 4 with my PC, right?

camera2 re-disabled at the end on mi A1

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 09:58 AM PDT

    Hi,

So I tried to enable camera2 but at the end it's disabled again on my mi a1 (sept update).

I use the guide from saki_eu and his tool " Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools " from this reddit, I did :

    - unlock bootloader

    - Use TWRP without flashing

    - enable camera 2 (checked it worked)

    - wiped all data (recommended it says to lock) and relocked bootloader to be able to get OTA update (some people are saying we can not get OTA update with an unlocked bootloader and others say yes)

    - disable OEM unlock

and now I'm still in legacy, I can't use gcam. The tool is using the same command from other guide, I don't if that's because I use a temporary TWRP.

That's the first time I'm doing the manipulation so I don't know, but I want to be able to have ota update while camera2 enabled without bricking and anything.

thanks in advance for your help

EDIT : during the time I'm getting an answer, I'm gonna redo everything except the bootloader lock to see

EDIT : so everything works but my bootloader is still unlocked, do I need to do something to get OTA update ? if yes, Is there any risk of brick or loose camera2 after an update ?

Redmi Note 7 lockscreen wallpaper problem.

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 01:16 PM PDT

It's not a big thing, i know, but it's still annoying. Since a week or two i've noticed that after every phone reboot lockscreen wallpaper resets to default one, and so on i've got to change it again and again. I bought it about month ago and it's running newest unlocked MIUI. Any idea?

Quick questions about storage and how much space some files take up in the 9T.

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 03:15 AM PDT

Hey guys! I'm almost decided on the Mi 9T (non-Pro) and now I'm wondering if I should go with 128 gb or 64 gb is enough.

I will most likely not play many big games, maybe the occasional one, and I'm coming from a 16 gb Samsung S4 (high time I upgraded lol) so 64 will already feel like a big jump.

Anyway, any general advice? How many mb, roughly, do photos take? What about the 48 mp ones? Video? Any input is appreciated!

Bonus round: carbon black or blue? The blue one is growing on me.

Mi 9: Deafening noise over my car bluetooth when receiving notifications in Android Auto

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 12:34 PM PDT

On my Mi 9, connected to Android auto, every time I get a notification - text message, WhatsApp - instead of triggering the notification sound, I get a deafening noise. Even when the phone is on silent mode.

The same noise is triggered if I click on the speech to text button on the GBoard - but not every time - it comes and goes.

That noise can only be described as the noise that would come out when you are plugging audio cables or a microphone. I get sh**t scared every time it happens.

This issue started after upgrading to EEA 10.2.30.0 . Since I can reproduce it on every app notification, I don't think it's app specific. Also, I do not have the same issue on my wife's car, so I'm guessing this could be a Bluetooth codec or something.

Does anyone have a suggestion on things I should try to fix this? Developer mode settings?
