Anyone else having issues with autorotate on 7 pro?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 12:48 PM PDT

It seems you need to give quite the wiggle and a bit of time before it rotates. Is it a software issue? Anyone else?

How to make the in-display fingerprint reader much faster and more reliable

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 03:34 PM PDT

I got a OnePlus 6t last week, and as I do with all phones, I spent several days reading about and researching everything about how it works.

Since a lot of people have complained that the in-display fingerprint reader on some OnePlus devices is slow or unreliable, I have a couple of tips to help, based on my testing:

    1. When you create new fingerprints, do it in a dark room. ie, go in the bathroom and turn the light off.

    2. When you store your fingerprint, rotate the phone about 5 degrees each time you touch your finger own. Go all the way around in a circle until it's upright again. This way it will recognize your finger from every angle.

These two tips made my unlocks almost instantaneous.

First Impressions of Android 10 Beta on the OnePlus 7 Pro

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 07:20 PM PDT

I've been playing around with the Android 10 Beta for a bit, and I figured I'd share some of my thoughts on here.

First of all, my first look is very promising, although there are still some bugs that the OnePlus team has to work out.

    What I like:
    - system-wide dark mode (in supported apps)
    - the ability to choose between Google's and OnePlus' versions of gesture navigation -- I still prefer the gesture navigation from OnePlus
    - new notifications -- music apps show the time bar and are larger
    - faster animations in settings, making the phone feel faster
    - new theming display in settings -- the ability to see all costumizations in one place is very useful
    - switching directly between apps is easier / more fluid -- when it works
    - new digital wellbeing stuff

    What I don't like:
    - there are a lot of bugs... sometimes things feel glitchy rather than smooth, which is what OnePlus is known for
    - swiping home sometimes displays two animations for the app closing in a row... yuck
    - it was difficult / buggy to change default apps (including the launcher -- I had to swipe home twice to reach the right launcher at times)
    - slower animations for multitasking -- I think OnePlus did this really well previously, while now the apps come in from the side, and exiting multitasking takes too much time rather than feeling fast / fluid
    - multitasking tends to be very buggy -- switching directly between apps often causes multitasking to bug out
    - my navigation bar choice was automatically changed at some point, and I was informed to manually switch it back if desired
    - auto-brightness is crazy aggressive

Overall, there's a lot I like about the Android 10 Beta, but there's still a lot that OnePlus still has to sort out. Once they do sort the kinks out, I think Oxygen OS will once again be king of the hill for Android, but it's not quite there yet, and if you don't want any bugs, I'd suggest you wait to upgrade.

    Android Q/10 Design Inconsistencies

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 08:04 PM PDT

I love how we get a day one beta of Q. However, something I don't get is how the UI doesn't really look like Android 10, but more like Android 9.

The icons aren't the updated line-outline versions we see on stock (Pixel, Essential, etc), and while I understand that OnePlus doesn't use completely stock Android, OOS was regarded for being pretty similar. However, there's something about this that bugs me even more, the WiFi icon was the new Q-style one in the latest DP5, but OnePlus developers deliberately changed it back to the Pie icon for OB1. On the other side of this the WiFi icon was the only one they used the new design for...

Why? Makes no sense to me at all. There's also some other (imo) questionable design decisions, like how OnePlus was highly regarded for their dark theme, but on Q has now implemented a grey QS panel with black notifications, even when Stock Android has both as pure black.

This just boils down to Android 10 looking like it still has some parts of Android 9 in it.

OnePlus, please fix your design inconsistencies, if you want to differentiate from stock Android, the settings UI is fine like that, or the different stock apps, but why make the UI a mix of Android 9 and 10 for seemingly no reason, and especially since it's directly going backwards from an earlier build.

    rant over lol

Anyone rooted on OB1 for 7Pro can you make a patched boot image for Magisk?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 05:35 PM PDT

Title, basically. I'm unable to get TWRP flashed and have been trying for legit 5hrs to get this to work, so at this point all I can do is flash a patched boot image and hope it works. You can do this in the Magisk Manager app.

    Thanks so much!!

    OnePlus 7 Pro is AMAZING!

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 12:35 PM PDT

My friend was having some financial problems, so he offered to sell me his OP7 Pro for $350.

I took it (coming from a S10+) and this thing is amazing!

90hz, no notch or punch holes, UFS 3.0. The only thing that sucks is the camera, but everything else is amazing!

OnePlus Weather Developer has something to say about Android 10

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 08:40 AM PDT

    his post

Shitty translation: "After tonight, a big wave of Android 10 will hit you. I really lamented that when I was flashing ROMs years ago, I cried for open source, and now I can enjoy the latest Android before open source."

Hopefully we get at least OB1 for 7Pro today like the chat guy said.

    Oneplus 7 (non pro)

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 12:52 PM PDT

It seems like most people on this subreddit don't know that you can get the oneplus 7 (non pro) in the US. It actually wasn't supposed to be sold here probably because the margins are too small and it competes with the pro version.

But it is on amazon in the US and the price/performance is absolutely insane.

The only sad thing about it is it's lacking the 90 Hz screen... But since I've never had a phone with that refresh rate I figure I won't miss it.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RFWG93C?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image

    For $460 you get:

    • 256 GB storage

    • 8GB RAM

-Qualcomm snapdragon 855 (same as pro)

    • GPU: Adreno 640 (same as pro)

    -unlock: face/fingerprint (same as pro)

-Rear camera: 48 MP (less lenses than pro)

-Size a fraction of an inch smaller than pro

    One plus 7 pro specs:

    https://www.oneplus.com/7pro?gclid=CjwKCAjwnrjrBRAMEiwAXsCc45EgDo-2C_jy0e9Sn0g145sIPre76wMg_N0Vu_r0qU-uEFXAr5ZV1hoCNQ0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#/specs

One plus 7 (non pro specs)

    https://www.oneplus.com/hk/7/specs

My understanding is that the oneplus 7 works with ATT network in the US for sure. I can't say about other networks since it isn't made for the US market, you'd have to do your own research.

But this phone absolutely obliterates any other phone I've seen for under like $650. And it's $460....

Will Google Camera be supported, for those who downloaded it for the OnePlus 7 pro, even after the Android 10 release?

Basically as the title implies, will Google cam cease to work once a new OS is installed on your OnePlus device?

Rooted with Magisk. How will I install Android 10 when I receive it without losing root?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 12:52 PM PDT

Will it be the same as I installed small security updates?

I.e. (from Magisk) install to inactive slot from the Magisk before restarting the phone.

No toggle for game mode for DP versions of androidQ

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 07:57 PM PDT

Looking to hook up a controller to my phone. The controller requires an app to continually run in the backround, I've made an attempt to disable game mode through several methods seeing as the toggle has no disappeared but no luck. Any advice? Please OnePlus bring the toggle back for the love of god
