Anyone else like the 7Pro design over the 7T?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 07:37 AM PDT

I'm not talking about notch vs popup camera, but the actual design and shape of the phone.

7Pro is much rounder, and by looking at pictures of the 7T the corners are more squared off and the display is kinda too tall, 20:9 or whatever it is. There's not enough width imo

    Anyone else feel the same?

Is 7Pro worth the extra $100 over the 7T??

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 04:15 PM PDT

What are we looking at that is the differences?

    • .12 inch bigger screen
    • 7Pro 1440x3120 (516ppi) vs 7T 1080x2400 (402ppi)
    • 7Pro curved screen (88.1% S to B ratio vs 7T flat 86.5% S to B ratio
    • telephoto camera is 3x, as opposed to 7T 2x, but. 2 difference on aperture better on 7T.
    • 7Pro has motorized pop-up front camera to 7T notch. (same camera on both)
    • 7 Pro has 200mAh more battery over 7T
    • 7T with Snapdragon 855+ (7Pro 2.84GHz vs 7T 2.96GHz)

Did I miss anything? I guess depending on what you find important. I know some love the 7 Pro edge to edge curved screen, some hate it. Some love the 7T flat screen, some hate it. Some hate the notch. Others don't care. For me personally, I just dont see enough in the 7 Pro to justify paying $100 more for. The full screen would be nice, but the notch doesn't really bother me. I don't think the human eye can't tell the difference between the PPIs.

    Opinions?

Just how noticable is the 90hz display?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 01:49 AM PDT

I'm in the market for a new phone. I'm deciding between waiting for the 7T Pro and the Galaxy Note 10 plus.

I've had the OPO, OP3T and the 5T, and have been itching to get back on the OnePlus train. But I've also had a Note 2 back in the days, and would love to use another Note after buying the Note 9 for my girlfriend last year.

I'm currently leaning towards the Note 10 plus, but if the 90hz is as great as some reviewers make it out to be, I might just go for the 7T Pro instead.

Edit: Thank you everyone for your answers. So the overwhelming majority of people think there's a noticeable difference. This is making it a very difficult decision for me. Lol. I guess I'll have to go find a store that sells the 7 Pro and have a look myself.

I have a OnePlus 7t review unit in hand. What questions do you have and what would you like to see addressed in a review?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 05:18 PM PDT

    Hey guys

The OnePlus 7t is in a pretty unique place right now since the 7 Pro is also available. I'm here to answer questions you may have so feel free to ask away. I'm also here to listen and take suggestions on what you'd like to see in a review of the device. I write for a medium size Android site that I won't mention because I'm not trying to self promote.

    Huge camera delay bug

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 03:39 PM PDT

I'm not sure if this is because of Android 10 so I didn't post this in the megathread, but you should try it out yourself right now.

The frame-freeze when you press the shutter button, the mini-preview of that recently-taken photo, and the actual photo itself, THEY ARE 3 DIFFERENT PHOTOS TAKEN AT 3 DIFFERENT MOMENTS.

Try it out yourself, quickly move your hand from top of the frame to the botton. If you press the shutter button right at the very beginning, the photo animation will "freeze" the frame when your hand is at the bottom. The image thumbnail will show your hand at the middle of the frame, but click on it to see the actual photo of your hand at the top of the frame in the beginning.

Or in other words if my English is hard to understand: wave your hand in front of the camera and take the picture. The moment you press the button, the frame-freeze, the thumbnail at the bottom right corner, and the resulting photo - those are 4 different moments, so the thumbnail preview is pretty much useless.

This is insane and makes it unsuable for sport or fast-paced photography.

Looking for help! Phone getting hot and won't receive text messages!

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 07:03 PM PDT

I just switched to the OnePlus 7 pro about 2 weeks ago. I've been absolutely loving the phone and getting 12+ hours a day out of my phone with considerable use. But ever since sometime early in the morning of September 26th. My phone battery will just drain with no usage. I'm talking in my pocket locked with no background apps running after an hour my phone has dropped 20%. As soon as the battery issues started the phone has been hot to the touch ever since. Apart from that I also can't get any texts either! I can send texts out that get received, but apart from group messages or picture messages I don't receive a thing.

Will the 7T support USB-C to HDMI?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 11:31 AM PDT

I remember my 6Ts USB-C tech was too dated for this feature.

Did they upgrade the port and allow this now?

Best time and price to get a OP7 Pro?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 05:22 AM PDT

So after seeing the details and specs of the 7T, I think my final decision is to go with the OP7 Pro instead. I'm not sure if it's worthwhile to wait until OP7T Pro gets announced and wait for a price drop or try to get one off Swappa/Amazon/eBay in new/mint condition. I'm not sure how much the phone depreciate after a new model is announced or becomes available but I'm guessing I can snag a blue 8GB model for ~$500?

Also, what cases do you guys recommend since I kinda want to show off the nebula blue on the back but also have enough protection on the edges since the phone is bigger and probably more fragile on the edges. Considered Rhinoshield but dunno if I should protect the back from scratches.

So, what's the future of OnePlus 6T/6?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 01:30 PM PDT

I consider 6T to be the 'almost as good' sibling of the 7 series. But then again, my knowledge of how a smartphone works is as accurate as my hate for iPhones - ANDROID GOOD, IOS BAD HMPH HMPH.

I got my 6T right before 7 and 7 Pro were launched. I couldn't wait since I urgently needed a new phone and what can I say, to this day I consider this device absolutely perfect - smooth, sassy and fast. I plan to use this phone for the next couple of years (or more) and was wondering how well will it age ?

I don't game too much (casual stuff like Brawl Stars and Clash Royale) but do get excited about games like CoD Mobile and other fancy stuff. Most of my phone usage is switching between apps and browsing stuff. Also, the camera!

7T just came out and looks damn fine, but as always makes the user of an older-version-phone a bit insecure. Hence, the concern and curiosity.

    Some apps won't open? 7pro

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 08:31 PM PDT

Just purchased a brand new OP 7pro from T-Mobile and transferred everything from my Note 8 via the OP switch app. For some reason some apps won't open. (Snapchat, Credit Card, Ishtar Commander, etc) Can't seem to figure it out. Any advice?

    Speed dial not working properly

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 08:03 PM PDT

Okay so, I'll try my best to explain this,

Basically when I tap on one of my speed dial contacts, eg. Dad, instead of calling the number I haved saved, my phone calls 323.

This is in reference to the keypad on your phone having both the number 2 and letters abc on the 2 key. Same for all keys on the dial pad.

So for some of my contacts, my phone replaces their name with their corresponding number using the keypad letters, which is not the person's actual contact number.

I don't know how to fix this. I've deleted contacts and readded them, I have unstared and re stared Contacts.

Has anyone else been experiencing this. Any help??

Android 10 does not play audio through Bluetooth?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 02:54 PM PDT

So before I updated I was able to play audio through Bluetooth on my GMC Intellilink system, but now, even though it's connected and HD audio is enabled, it doesn't play audio.

Any ideas as to what is happening or how to fix it?

Installed Gcam and took some pictures trying to sell stuff on OfferUp. The color looks bad and it took multiple tries to get a clear pic that's not blurry

Do I need to change any setting? Or do I just have to learn how to take good pictures?

    Why I left OnePlus.

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 02:21 AM PDT

Thought I'd make this post to pose a different perspective to what's usually posted in this sub.

Got my first Android after having had been a lifelong iPhone user, and was initially impressed with the OLED screen and ability to customise so much.

But as time went on, I was unable to ignore all of the subtle software inconsistencies and issues that I wasn't used to coming from IOS. Althought infrequent, I had app crashes, features not working perfectly, UI crashes and just very inconsistent performance from some apps - and this is probably fine for most people but coming from an IOS background it was difficult to adjust to.

This, coupled with the hardware issues like a very poor vibration motor and sub-par camera (unstable GCam apks were not as amazing as advertised) were what tipped me over the edge. I liked the feel of android enough to pick up a Pixel 3 XL (for $620AUD, $420 USD which I thought was a steal!). Initially, stock android was a lot smoother and so much more aesthetically pleasing (maybe this is partly due to "new phone feels") and the camera is amazing. I'm just hoping I don't have performance and battery life issues, but being a not so heavy user don't think that will be a problem.

I should also mention that I'm from Australia where we don't sell OnePlus phones, so having no support or warranty here is risky - but that's on me for buying a OnePlus 6 in the US!

OnePlus was my first Android and I loved it, but just wasn't enough to keep me in the community - this is just my opinion and I hope this sub can appreciate some feedback on the other side of the coin!

Edit: disappointing to see so many people in this sub incapable of having a civil conversation about the positives and negatives of OP. I reiterated many times that this is MY experience, and not sure why people think I'm an apple fanboy when literally just switched to Pixel. Oh well.

Oxygen OS 10 Notification horizon light/glow 3rd party alternatives?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 11:55 AM PDT

So I guess there's a bug with 10's horizon light where the light only displays if you're using the default messaging app, but other than that the horizon light doesn't show up at all, for any notifications. When the horizon light does appear with the default messaging app, it doesn't pulse to repeat! Are there any alternative 3rd party apps that anyone's had some success with on Oxygen OS 10 to get some kind of notification display?

Edit: Forgot to add, this is for Oneplus 7 Pro
