    Headphones displayed as speakers

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 02:43 PM PDT

I recently got a new pair of headphones, and when I plugged them in to my keyboard (my keyboard has a headphone jack) it asked me something along the lines of "Which device did you just plug in?" and I could choose from various audio devices.

I meant to click on headphones, but accidentally pressed stereo speakers and clicked submit.

I'm not sure if this is why it's happening, but my headphones have been sounding very quiet even on 100%, and they're louder on my laptop / front headphone jack (on pc, not on keyboard / laptop), where I did press headphones, and not speakers. Anyone know how to change it from speakers to headphones?

Edit: it was Speaker Out, not stereo speakers.

2 efi partitions and one is over 44GB in size?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 11:22 AM PDT

This is what my Disk management tool is showing: https://imgur.com/a/ISdMKZ9

I've seen other people with similar issues but none with answers. Can I remove the 44GB partition without damaging anything? If so, how can I go about doing that?

Anyone know a good Software Launcher for Windows 10?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 07:23 AM PDT

I'm looking for a launcher program, where i can put all my programs and tools, like Eclipse, Python IDLE, Revo Uninstaller, Recuva etc all in one GUI menu. People have said to me to use Windows Start Menu but it doesn't look neat. I just want an app that has on the side, all my categories like Utilities, tools. and if i press on a category it comes up on the other side, all the programs in that category. If you get what i mean.

My school has the exact program, but it's just called "Software Launcher" and i've asked what its called and they said they don't know either. The IT department set it up.

Video file playback horrible. What's going on?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 05:40 PM PDT

Hi, simple question. I'll probably delete this later today.

I just switched from a macbook pro to a custom built pc for the purpose of video editing and gaming.

I work with footage from a GH4. 4k video files compressed in h.264.

When I'm in windows explorer and I try to open and play a video from the camera(meaning a video file, that's in a folder that I imported from my camera onto my computer's ssd), it's really laggy. Not smooth and useless for actually evaluating and watching clips. The sound seems to play uninterrupted, but the frame-rate will be single digits or just straight up freeze.

I'm really confused because on my mac, which is way less powerful than my pc, I can smoothly playback these files instantly. I would do this before moving them into a video editing program to see what clips I actually want to use. Typical stuff.

Is there something I need to download from Microsoft or something?

I've tried VLC, windows media player, movies, photos, etc.

    Bad playback performance in all.

Is there an add on for VLC maybe?

    Thanks.

Dell laptop stuck in windows setup loop after reset

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 10:36 AM PDT

So i have a older-ish Dell laptop that i'm trying to sell and i finally got a buyer for it but when i went to reset it through windows and it finished resetting it brought me to the windows setup screen and when i select the language and timezone options and all that stuff it brings me to a screen that says why my "Pc Restarted" and when i click continue it'll sit on a screen that says "Just a moment..." for a few minutes then it restarts and it just keeps doing this over and over again. So do i have to re-install windows and get a new key or is there something i can do to stop this?

Is MDM normal for Windows 10 Education? Can I unenroll?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 07:52 PM PDT

I am using a Windows 10 Education key from Azure given to me by my school. My PC restarted without warning while using it and I noticed MDM group policies are set everywhere. Is this normal? Can I remove it and get full access to my Windows installation? I don't like the idea of MDM being enabled, especially to this extent.

Help I can't get further windows updates without installing windows 10??

Help I can't get further windows updates without installing windows 10??

Okay, this is going to be difficult for me to explain because I'm not very tech savvy but I'm going to do my best. Anyways I'm on windows 7 64 bit I remember years ago an update came out that was practically forcing people to install windows 10 I did everything in my power to make that not happen. But I noticed I haven't been getting any window updates going all the way back to 2016!! they just stopped. I'm going to post some screenshots of the dilemma I'm experiencing

    https://i.redd.it/88cs9io13np31.png

As you can see I still can't get any updates unless I download windows 10... I mentioned earlier that there was a way around this in the past but it isn't working for me anymore unless I'm doing something wrong, in the next screen shot I show how it won't allow me to make a specific update hidden the hidden option won't come up anymore only view details and copy details... I've tried doing it as administrator and that won't work either.

    https://i.redd.it/0ffdzbv83np31.png

In this other screen shot I'm displaying the option I've had for my windows updates for the last few years it's been the second option but yesterday I tried the other three options and nothing changed I still can't check for other updates or hide the windows 10 update that (I STILL DO NOT WANT).

    https://i.redd.it/6z639k2l3np31.png

When I attempt to let the update go through it tells me 12 things are being loaded I'm under the assumption that if I allow for that update to finish I'll have windows 10 the next time the computer restarts.

    https://i.redd.it/hn04kvxq3np31.png

    https://i.redd.it/x0cd2sxt3np31.png

TLDR I don't want windows 10 I want the update to go away so that I can get the latest updates for my computer.

I cant change my voice recognition language.

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 10:54 AM PDT

Hi, ive been trying to use a program called voice attack that recognizes your voice to make keyboard inputs (if that makes sense) but it just understands my voice 1/10 times (i have some weird latin/swedish accent). Ive heard you can "calibrate" the computer to understand you via the control panel but this doesent work for me. It just says my language doesnt support voice recognition or something like that (wich is weird because my current language is spanish). So. Im just asking how to change my system language from spanish to english to have the "calibration" in english. Ive tried multiple ways by watching tutorials but my computer does not give me the same options as in the tutorials. I dont know if any of what I wrote makes any sense but all suggestions are appreciated.

P.D. My computer is a HP Pavillion from 2019 (I think its from this year) and ive just updated windows 10.

PC shuts down with error code 0x00000000

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 04:01 PM PDT

No one helped in r/techsupport, so I'm posting here. Sorry.

but my PC doesn't shut down as if the power cable was yanked, but as if the power button was pressed.

Shuts down at complete random times even when I'm using it or when I'm training an AI.

I have no clue where to even start troubleshooting this.

Windows 10 1903 freezing on desktop right click???

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 03:27 PM PDT

I updated my windows about three hours ago after it said to restart in order to keep Windows 10 up to date in the future, and as soon as the half-hour update finished, I log on to find that my Avast anti-virus is no longer working, and I uninstalled it and can't install it again, and I cannot access the nVidia control panel, and whenever I right click on the desktop, the cursor is stuck on waiting permanently, and I cannot click any icons on my desktop. What the heck is going on?

Can't create a bootable vhdx with applied wim on it

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 01:18 PM PDT

Hello you all! I couldn't find anyone how posted a real troubleshoot for this issue . So here's what's happening: I'm willing to have multiple wims that have a different desktop setup - one suited for programming, one for VMs, one for video editing and so on.. I figured that running my OS on vhd - mounted with a specific wim that's suitable for what I'm willing to do will save up allot of space and have better performance. Firstly I used hyper-v to run windows 10 and downloaded the utilities I needed. Then I created vhdx file (with diskmgmt)and format it. Started sysprep Entered winpe And captured the image. Applied the image to the vhdx - and that's it Detached the vhdx and tried to boot a new VM with it- and the same things happening- The VM start the loading circle and never stops / or it goes black screen and nothing is happening.

I should mention I followed every guid from Microsoft , put boot files , created system partition and all that. Nothing works.

If I will manage to solve this out , I will post a detailed guid ..

Moving windows to SSD WITH a reset?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 10:01 AM PDT

My PC has become a dumpster of files and other electronic garbage and I'm looking to move my Windows install to my SSD. I'm going to reset it and get rid of everything installed. Afterwards, I'm hoping to move windows. What would be the best way to do that? Everything online seems to be about moving it WITHOUT reinstalling and losing everything, but that's exactly what I want.

    drawing tablet changes mouse size

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 10:22 PM PDT

After a recent windows update at the start of the week, using my drawing tablet now makes my mouse cursor the maximum possible size.
I can't tell if this is an accessibility option or just a bug, reinstalling the drivers for the tablet made no difference.
I get about one or two minutes before the cursor will change, so it doesn't seem to be directly linked to using the tablet.
this change only seems to affect the main pointer and the "loading" pointer, other pointers are the normal size.

any help would be appretiated, I can update the post with my PC specs if they're necesary.
