Posted: 29 Sep 2019 12:25 PM PDT So yeah, they are both 10 and we are renovating a gaming room and they want in on it. Budget isn't really a concern at all but the caveat is that they want to build it on their own, I know a trajedy in waiting. Basically they like RGB and all that shit that appeals to kids and they are both pretty intelligent, but I don't believe they sell easy access parts for you not to really fuck up too badly. not to get all SJW and what not but they look up to me as a girl who can build computers and they have a really big interest (and yes I know this is not a big deal being female lmao) in building computers and computers in general. So any advice is good, again I doubt they sell computer parts that are kid proof. Budget - whatever [link] [comments]
The stupidest, most expensive mistake I ever made while building a PC - just happened Posted: 29 Sep 2019 10:07 AM PDT My Radeon VII just died after a troubleshooting session where I had to repeatedly remove it/reseat it and try new settings. I got tired of screwing it in every time so... I didn't. Needless to say, this was the stupidest thing I've ever done in my pc building career. It slipped out of the PCI-E slot at an angle, the slot pins overlapped to other channels on the GPU, the fans ramped up to 100% for 1 sec, and then the entire PC shut off. After realizing that it wasn't sending out any display signal or being utilized by the OS/programs in any way, I checked Device Manager which gave the dreaded Code 43 (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.) as well as this error: \VEN_1002&DEV_66AF&SUBSYS_081E1002&REV_C1\6&148aee00&0&00000008 had a problem starting. So my question to you is, how should I give a good soldier an honourable passing into the next life? Or maybe you believe in reincarnation. At any rate, I'm open to creative suggestions and will follow up with an update. [link] [comments]
G.Skill TridentZ RGB making beep noise when rgb is off Posted: 29 Sep 2019 01:58 PM PDT I recently upgraded my pc and noticed that the ram makes a beeping noise whenever the RGB is off, is this normal? Video of the sound, it's easier to notice with effects while it's going on/off and everytime the light is off you can hear the beep. Edit : I'm using a msi b450 tomahawk max and controling the rbg with mystic light [link] [comments]
what should i plug everything into? just the wall? a power strip? Posted: 29 Sep 2019 04:37 PM PDT so is it best to just plug your pc cords directly into your wall? should i use something else? a power strip? what makes a power strip good? are they all the same? how do i shop for one? ive never really seen a power strip "review" on youtube [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Sep 2019 04:34 PM PDT I have Ryzen 3600 installed. First time I flashed just fine. When I wanted to flash latest abba BIOS the computer wont boot. I used a 256mb usb drive. Deleted everything, formated to FAT32, and renamed the bios file to msi.rom. It will not boot. Power and etc is on. Nothing is displayed on the monitor. It is nothing like my first flashing experience. Edit: my mistake I think is not going to M flash page in the bios and just flashed it directly. Are my computers about to explode? (or should I call an exorcist?) Posted: 29 Sep 2019 11:07 AM PDT Sorry if this isn't allowed, but having a hard time figuring this one out: I've built a PC for myself and my wife. They're on side-by-side desks in our office. Each computer is on a 650W PSU and there are a total of 3 monitors and some LED lights in the room. They work great but... When my wife stands up from her desk all the displays go out for about 1sec. Nothing restarts, but ALL the screens blink out then come back. If I sit in her chair and stand up it's all hunkidori. No black outs at all. I've gone so far as running back to back "tests" of keeping everything exactly the same and each of us sitting and standing from each chair. Black outs only happen when she stands up from her chair. I'm basically stuck on what the issue is so I'm hoping that someone else has run into this... TIA! [link] [comments]
$550 budget, critique my planned upgrade? Posted: 29 Sep 2019 08:31 AM PDT intended use is web browsing/video watching, but mostly gaming Here is my current build, which was made in 2015:
I was pretty satisfied with it until I couldn't play Nier:Automata at high settings smoothly, also got tired of screen tearing in general Gaming priorities: 1 - Being able to run new (2/2.5D) fighting games for the next 4-5 years at 1080p and 60fps2 - Having a smooth playable framerate (~40-50?) on new AAA games with "high/very high" settings (examples like Monster Hunter World, whatever Souls-esque games, etc.)3 - Playing 2010s games with mods added (like skyrim/fallout 4 with lots of custom textures)I think this puts it squarely above say, a PS4 pro? Budget is around $500-$600 in the USA, here's my plan so far, idk if it'll reach these requirements though

New build is randomly crashing during games - help! Posted: 29 Sep 2019 10:31 AM PDT Hi, everyone. You guys were a huge help while I was doing some research for this build. I have been extremely happy with this build up until the last couple of weeks, when I started experiencing tons of random crashes. Build: Ryzen 5 2600x Corsair H60 54 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler MSI B450I Gaming Pluc AC Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard ADATA XPG GAMMIX D10 (2 x 8GB) Memory Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 3TB Internal HD Crucial MX500 500 GB SSD Asus Radeon RX 580 4GB Dual Video Card Cooler Master MWE Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply My PC is randomly crashing during games. The games aren't just crashing, my entire PC is turning off. Most of the time, the PC completely turns off and won't restart unless I turn the power supply off and turn it back on. Once in a while, my PC will just restart. This issue only happens when I'm playing games. A few weeks ago, it happened during an Overwatch game. I thought it was a one-time fluke. It's been happening every single time I play Borderlands 3. The first night, I played for about three hours with no issues. A few days later, I crashed a few hours into playing. Since then, I haven't been able to play for more than about five minutes (usually less) before my PC turns off. It's now been happening with World of Warcraft classic. I crashed when loading a dungeon instance and it kept happening when I logged back in. I've been checking my temperatures with Speedfan and Ryzen Master. Everything seems to be running just fine temperature-wise. My GPU gets up to maybe 65C, max. I even removed the glass cover off my case with my PC on and the power supply was barely even warm. Everything seems to be running at normal temperatures. I also have updated all of my drivers. I don't have any pictures of my build at the moment, but I can post some if you guys think it will help. Did I just bottleneck my build? Posted: 29 Sep 2019 05:16 PM PDT Heres the build MSI B-450 A Pro 16gb Trident G.Skill 3200mhz (x2 8gb) Ryzen 5 2600x MSI RTX 2080 Ventus 32 inch 144hz Acer Predator (w/ G-sync) Dark Rock Pro 4 just incase I feel like overclocking. New PC, problem with Win 10 installation (BSOD, BUGCODE_NDIS_DRIVER) Posted: 29 Sep 2019 02:49 PM PDT So I build a new PC and want to install Windows 10 on it. It booted successfully and I'm in the BIOS. I have a x570 so I flashed the new BIOS for the Ryzen 3900X, because the Voltages were too high and I guess flashing the new BIOS is what you're supposed to do? However, no drives were recognized. So after the BIOS flash, my 2 drives were recognized, so I booted from my USB to install Win 10 with the Media Creation tool. Everything worked fine until, after the restart, I got the BSOD with the error code BUGCODE_NDIS_DRIVER it rebooted and I got a Windows-like error message. I removed one drive, same thing. I looked for a solution online but now I have a broken USB because I deleted the drivers off of it. Idk what to do, I'm at a loss here. I’m Building a PC, and I want to use this gtx1060 3gb Posted: 29 Sep 2019 04:55 PM PDT I got a bunch of computer parts from a friend who took what he wanted from his old computer and gave me the gutted case (including the GTX1060) along with an "EVGA 650 G2" power unit that he just had laying around. Here is the list of everything I have to work with.. •EVGA 650 G2 power unit •NZXT Apollo case •ASUS TurboV EVO motherboard •GTX1060 3GB graphics card • 2 CORSAIR VENGEANCE RAM sticks (4GB each) I've never built a PC before, but I'm familiar with all of the components and I'm confident I could put it all together once I have them. But I'm not confident in my abilities to research the compatible parts that would work with what I have. I'm trying to run modern AAA titles at very good frame rate and graphics. If ya'll could give me suggestions on what CPU/RAM to buy and if I should swap out any of the things I have for something more compatible with said CPU/RAM I would greatly appreciate it. Please message me with any questions if I forgot to include more info, Thanks! [link] [comments]
Upgrading an old budget build, Budget $800-1000, new PC? Posted: 29 Sep 2019 04:46 PM PDT A few years ago, I created a classic budget build with the 1050ti and the i3-6100. It has been great since then, but some games could use some more firepower. Honestly, since I would want to change so much I guess it would mostly be a new PC. All I can really keep is my 1tb hard drive, but I would like a fairly large SSD for the OS and certain things. I don't think I can keep the 500W PSU if I'm gonna upgrade all the parts. My case is a BitFenix Nova ATX Mid Tower, but it has bad cable management so I would like to get a new one. I would also like to upgrade to 16gb of ram from 8gb. Budget: $800-$1000. Whatever is the best bang for the buck with the current market. Willing to switch to AMD. It would also be great to link maybe a PC part picker build or a youtube video displaying the best build for my budget. Thanks for the help. First Build, moving from 19 years on consoles Posted: 29 Sep 2019 04:32 PM PDT Hey Reddit, been a console gamer my whole life and finally making the jump to PC. Hoping this build will last me a couple of years and was looking for advice on if the build is compatible and if I'm falling into any early pitfalls. Cheers!

Question for Fractal Meshify C owners Posted: 29 Sep 2019 02:17 PM PDT I had seen in a few reviews for the Meshify C that one of the bottom fans in the case gets in the way of the bay that contains the 3.5" drives, and that some people had to take that fan out in order to fit their 3.5" drives. For people on here who own this case, have you ran into this problem, and if so is there any way you worked around this? If this makes a difference, I only intend on using 1 of the 3.5" drives, so I don't know if it would be possible to only take out one of the 3.5" bay slots and fit the fan in that way. Thanks for the help [link] [comments]

Advice for video card 60 fps 1444p gaming Posted: 29 Sep 2019 08:49 AM PDT I'm planning to upgrade my current card (Radeon RX 570). I was aiming to get something that allows me to play any modern game in 1444p or Full HD resolution with at least 60 fps in max settings. What would you recommend me? My budget is around $1k. Posted: 29 Sep 2019 04:17 PM PDT Looking for a new monitor. 27" 1440p 144hz gsync compatible. Would love to stay under $300. Not too concerned with color accuracy since I'll just be using it for gaming and productivity. There seems to be a few offerings and I was wondering if making the move to 1440p and 144hz is worth the investment at this price point. Any recommendations? I do have a microcenter nearby. Current rig is 9600k @5ghz and a 2080 [link] [comments]
Did I put a time bomb in my computer? Posted: 29 Sep 2019 04:05 PM PDT So I purchased a Thermaltake Toughpower GX1 600w for about $45. I checked the PSU tier list and it tier C, but I looked up reviews and they all said that it was ok. Everyone always says that you should never cheap out on a PSU. What I'm wondering is whether I got a good deal or a piece of garbage For reference, I'm going to be powering a 3600 and a 5700xt. [link] [comments] |
