Need help choosing a laptop for drawing and photoshop Posted: 29 Sep 2019 07:00 PM PDT I'm looking at a Dell inspiron 3000 and an acer aspire 1. The Dell inspiron 3000 has much better storage at 500gb HDD and a 4gb DDR4 ram (expandable to 8gb) and a 1366x768 15.6in led backlit display with an Intel Pentium N5000 1.1 GHz (up to 2.7GHz) processor and a Intel UHD 605 graphic card. Whereas the Acer Aspire 1 has 64gb eMMC a 4gb DDR4 SDRAM and a 14in full HD backlit screen with an Intel celeron n4000 dual core processor (up to 2.6GHz) and an intel HD graphics 500 graphic card. Lenovo Legion Y540-15IRH or MSI GL63 86E-056IT? Posted: 30 Sep 2019 01:32 AM PDT So I have the option to buy a Lenovo Legion Y540-15IRH or a MSI GL63 86E-056IT for about the same price, €1500. They have the same SSD, HDD, RAM, etc, but this is where they differentiate: [link] [comments] |
College & Light Gaming, Under $600 Posted: 29 Sep 2019 08:41 PM PDT Someone who knows about laptops, please help me! I am a college student taking online classes and I also do a bit of gaming. If it makes a difference, I mostly play The Sims 4. I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 330s which completely died within less than a month and I had to return it and get my money back. This time I really need suggestions to help me decide on a reliable laptop within my price range. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
I just want a cheap laptop that can run these games- Posted: 29 Sep 2019 10:04 PM PDT Hi, I am 14 and looking for a cheap gaming laptop. The only things I am really wanting to play are; Roblox, the Sims, Minecraft with mods, Pokemon Emulators, and Fortnite. What are my best options? I honestly have no idea how much a laptop like this would cost. I have about 600 USD to my name but I don't really want to spend that all. [link] [comments] |

What would you choose between these two laptops? Posted: 29 Sep 2019 11:51 PM PDT Hi, I'm looking for a budget gaming laptop and I'm down to just two options, the Acer nitro 5 and the MSI GF62 8RE. So the MSi has a gtx 1060 Vs the gtx 1650 on the Acer, which is better, but is the 3gb model compared to the latters 4gb. So I'm not really sure what I should get. Also the MSi model seems to have a weaker display. What would you get in this case? [link] [comments] |
Is 620€ good price for 1y old XPS 13 9360 (8th gen) Posted: 29 Sep 2019 11:42 PM PDT So, I got a counter offer on eBay for DELL XPS 13 9360 I5-8250u for 620€. Would you say is a good offer? [link] [comments] |
How do you determine a laptop’s panel type? Posted: 29 Sep 2019 11:36 PM PDT I'm interested in buying this laptop https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X3Y6V2C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SVzKDbSYP3PFX But I can't find any definitive information online about whether it's an IPS or TN panel. There's only one review online and it refers to the panel as "IPS like". I tried calling ASUS and even the rep I talked to could only give me info on a similar model. Is there a way to find out prior to purchasing? [link] [comments] |
Laptop for statistician/engineer, something more affordable than Asus Zenbook? Posted: 29 Sep 2019 09:15 PM PDT Hello, I need some assistance in identifying a laptop. Preferences: Budget: $1200, under $1000 is ideal General purpose is statistical programming. Location: US Color: black or dark gray/blue. I really dislike the silver laptops for some reason. 15" screen 16 GB Ram i7 8000 or 9000 series 512 - 1 T SS My brand preferences are Lenovo and HP and Asus, but would consider others. Not a must have, but I do like the 270 degree capability of the Lenovo Flex so that I can use an external keyboard and move the screen a little backwards. I usually hook up 1 or 2 external monitors when I'm not using the laptop on travel. I currently have the Lenovo Flex with no issues, but aging out after 6 years. It doesn't look like they sell them anymore. I'm not a gamer, I would like to avoid OMEN, MSI, etc. I fell in love with Asus Zenbook, but it is slightly out of my ideal price range at $1400 and the track pad did not have great reviews. Thank you!! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2019 02:45 PM PDT Total budget and country of purchase: Max. budget is £1300, but if anything is significantly cheaper that would be ideal! Buying in Northern Ireland Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply: I have no preference on form, the option of having a tablet mode is tempting but my priority is being able to run engineering programmes efficiently and fast. How important is weight and thinness to you?: Preferably a lighter laptop as I will be working on my commute to university. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux: Windows preferably Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A: 13.3" up to 14" Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run: Mainly CAD: solidworks 2018, running some coding programmes such as visual studio and MATLAB and some abaqus. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?: No gaming Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?: I would like a good graphics card and processor, but that goes without saying from the programmes I have listed! At least 16gb of RAM and a decent SSD (512gb or more) Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion: I am aware I'm asking a lot to have a laptop ideal for running ally engineering programmes while maintaing a smaller size, but I would prefer the more portable size for working in different environments. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this and I hope you can help! [link] [comments] |

Dell Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 (7391) vs Thinkpad X395 Posted: 29 Sep 2019 10:44 PM PDT Hi, Am in the market for an ultraportable touchscreen laptop, and these are pretty much the shortlisted options for my country at almost the same price. Few consumer laptops come with touch option here. Given my use case (tablet and media browsing replacement), the touchscreen and durability rank a little higher than the convertible option, which I almost never use on my current Lenovo 700 2-in-1. Please only choose between these two, and not other suggestions which may not be available here. I have never bought a Dell - would like some help choosing between these two configurations. Anything goes (except maybe for Superfish comments, which is not an issue with the Thinkpad range). Please only choose between these two, and not other suggestions which may not be available in my country. Looking for suggestions on a dual boot Hackintosh ~$250 Posted: 29 Sep 2019 06:36 PM PDT * **Total budget and country of purchase:** Preferably $200-300 total * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Good battery life, better specifications. * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Not too important. I've been looking at some T440Ps and similar lately. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** I plan on having this be my first Hackintosh, and also my first Linux machine as well. I will be getting 256GB SSDs for both OS's if possible. * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** N/A * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** Some basic gaming, maybe light video gaming. Just looking to have something to play around with. * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** If I want to game, I'll use Moonlight and stream it from my gaming PC. * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** Backlit keyboard, IPS display, and good touchpad would be great. Thunderbolt/USB C would be nice as well, even better if compatible with Mac drivers. [link] [comments] |
[US] Graphic design and photography needs. Budget $1,200 max. Posted: 29 Sep 2019 06:19 PM PDT * **Total budget and country of purchase:** US, no more than $1,200. * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Best specs. Others not as important. High quality display desired. * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Not very. I prefer not to lug around a tank, but it doesn't matter much. Currently on an Acer Aspire E 15, 15.6" that keeps freezing and is out of warranty. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows preferred. * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** -fill here, remove dashes- * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** Significant photo editing - needs to run Photoshop, Illustrator, other Adobe programs. * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** I really only play League of Legends at low or midrange graphics. * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** I'd really like a reliable PC this time around, as this Acer was a huge letdown. SD card slot would be great, as well as a decent keyboard. Excellent screen with high nits is important. * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** I am typically wired into a wall, so battery life isn't a critical factor. I would get a desktop if I had a place for it at the moment. Brightness is really important. The Acer E15 was way more dim than I expected. [link] [comments] |
Need a laptop around 70k INR for gaming as well as editing Posted: 29 Sep 2019 02:21 PM PDT From what I've searched i found out that Helios 300 2019 version with i7 would be the best, but I've also glanced at asus rog strix g i7, and it seems to be a good deal too... Both are at sale on Flipkart with great discounts so suggest which one should i go for. Or if there is any other laptop suggest that too. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
