Surface Laptop 2 vs Huawei matebook pro.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 06:04 AM PDT

Sorry for the super common questions, but I figured you guys are way more knowledgeable.

I'm searching for a new laptop as school is starting, I've narrowed down to 2 laptops, the surface laptop 2 and huawei matebook pro. Ideally my budget is around 1,000-1,500. Usage would be just a bunch of tabs, youtube, and maybe light video edition, photoshop and designing. No gaming as I have a desktop with which I can game with.

Both would honestly work for me, but what do you think?

    Lenovo thinkpad for Uni?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 01:45 PM PDT

Many recommendations and online suggestions have pointed me towards Lenovo, and the think pad series looks really strong. I would be using the laptop for primarily note taking and essay writing, BUT I stream a lot of videos and my hobbies include video editing/music mixing. Whilst these aren't at all priorities, it's nice to know my laptop is powerful enough to cope with this sort of thing if I want to invest time in it.

Do people recommend these laptops for this, and if so which model/what should I ensure it has? Certain processers or an x amount of ram? I'm not very wised up on laptop technology so excuse my ignorance! My budget is sort of maximum £500 (not dollars, so it's okay if more before conversion) but I would like for it to be lower as this is a students budgets we are talking. Thanks in advance

Need a laptop that’ll get me through college, and some music production.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 01:33 PM PDT

Hey guys, I'm going to college next week and I'm looking to buy a good and powerful laptop with a long battery life. I'm going to be using it mainly for school: programming, writing papers etc. On the side I'll also be doing some music production. I was thinking of buying a macbook pro 13' base model. I've been with Windows all my life and this is gonna be my first computer that runs on MacOS. Should I make the switch to MacOS, or stick to a windows laptop maybe purchase an Asus Zenbook? Any feedback and personal opinions are greatly appreciated!!!

My laptop screen won’t turn on

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 12:55 PM PDT

So, today I received my brand new acer nitro 5. I plug it in, press the on button, the led turns on, the keyboard does too, but the screen remains black. Am I doing something wrong? How can I fix it? I will probably send it back tomorrow if I don't find a way to make it work. Any advice?

    Improving Acer a715 laptop screen

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 12:50 PM PDT

Hey guys, So I have had my laptop for around a year now and enjoy it for the most part, with the only two issues I have being the weight and the screen. I would very much like to replace the screen to something with better colors/better for gaming. The problem is I do not know what screens would be an improvement.

I've found some replacement screens HERE and judging by the information I can find it looks like the connector for the laptop are fairly standard. Unfortunately I have no frame of reference for how much of an improvement these screens will be and was hoping someone could help me out!

💥Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Windows and Linux

💥Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

14 or 15 inches with very slim bezels

💥Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run

Gaming: LoL, CSgo, Dota 2, GTA V + a lot of computer science programming

💥If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

LoL and CsGo: highest settings with at least 80fps

💥Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices?

Very big windows precision touchpad and decent keyboard would be great

💥Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Razer blade 15 is out of my range (unless you have a sweet deal)

Thanks is advance for your help!! ❤

How to fix a cracked laptop screen without replacing it

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 11:53 AM PDT

    Anyone heard of this laptop?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 11:45 AM PDT

Im currently looking for a new laptop and I came across the Asus Vivobook K571GT-EB76. Although it was a little past my budget I'm considering buying it since the specs sound nice and I just love how it looks - but I'm a bit cautious since I've searched far and wide and no one seems to be talking about this laptop at all.

Here's a link to the laptop I'm talking about

Some specs: i7-9750H 16GB RAM 256GB PCIe Nvme SSD + 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

Please let me know anything you know about this laptop, it's build quality, if you think it's a good deal, or your experiences with it if you have one yourself.

Lenovo Y540 weird pops and cracks when playing music

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 11:26 AM PDT

So I got my Y540 few weeks ago, and today I was working the whole day and decided to ditch the headphones and chill with some music through the awesome speakers it has... And everything is awesome and stuff but there are some weird pops and crackling coming of the speakers when playing music... Tryed with and without changing it seems like the charger is making it more noticeable.

Help what do I do? Is this a software problem or hardware?

Here is a video I recorded with my phone ( sorry I know the audio is bad, but I think the 'pops' are quite noticeable, the compression makes them sound like I am pressing keys )

    Reliable battery source?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 11:24 AM PDT

Trying to replace a battery in a HP laptop thats out of warranty. HP doesnt sell them anymore according to them and so my only options are eBay or Amazon.

This laptop has a lot of sentimental value as it was a gift from my Dad right before he passed.

I just want a real replacement battery and not some crap with a fake logo or one that's used, etc.. Because its not easy to get into the laptop, I just want to fix it once and be done.

    Thanks for listening

    Hello!

So i purchased a razer blade 15(base model) and realized that I've backed myself into a corner where i need more space for the boot drive which is a Sata m.2 ssd(128gb). I was wondering if I could use an nvme drive in the current slot of the sata drive without issues. Thanks!

    Laptop suggestion

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:33 AM PDT

I'm looking for suggestions regarding a Laptop in the 1200-1500€ price range. I will be using it mainly to make college work (writing text), youtube, social media, music and netflix. I would like to try a Macbook, but within this price range i would only be buying the cheapest of the luxurious macbooks. And also i have all of my previous saved files come from a windows pc so i probably won't be able to recover them in a Apple product. So i have a preference for a windows laptop between 1200-1500 euros price tag. Really appreciate your help, thanks in advance.

Is there any way to make my laptop USB C to HDMI compatible?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:21 AM PDT

I have an ASUS UX330UA laptop, for which I recently bought this usb c to hdmi adapter.

QGeeM USB C to HDMI Adapter 4K... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JW7GT7H?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Only after buying it did I realize that since my laptop is a couple years old, it might not support the usb c alt mode I need to use. Is there any drivers or software I can download & install to make the laptop compatible with the adapter, or should I just go ahead and return it?

Need help with laptop charger! Please

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:13 AM PDT

I forgot to bring my laptop charger on holiday to Madeira Portugal. Now before you start, I need it to unload my SD cards from my camera so I can keep shooting.

    I've got a HP Gaming Pavilion 15-cx0963nd. The charger it comes with is a 150w, 19,5v 7,7a charger with a 4,5mm plug.

The only thing I can find in electronics stores on the island is a Universal 90w 19v charger with a bunch of different sized plugs including a HP one it says.

Would this work? Would it just charge slower or will it not work at all? I don't care about it charging fast, if it charges overnight so I can just unload my images I'm fine with it....

Hope anybody can help me figure this out before I buy something that won't work.

Laptop Running Slow - Can't figure out why

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:09 AM PDT

I'm working on my mom's laptop and it is DREADFULLY slow. I can't figure out what I'm not doing right.

I've googled everything I can think of and quite frankly I am STUMPED.

    Computer Info:

    • HP Notebook P1A95UA
    • 64-Bit Operating System
    • Total memory: 4.00 GB with 3.45GB usable
    • C Drive: 444 GB with 396 GB usable and D Drive: 19.4 GB with 2.27 usable
    • Processor name: AMD A6-5200 APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics
    • Windows 10 Home Version 1903 OS Build 18362.295

    What I've Done:

    • System Recovery (The one where you start your PC like-new out of the box)
    • Ran Disk Clean Up as well as Enabled and ran Storage Sense
    • Ran Malwarebytes detection, nothing found (ran it on Chrome too just to be safe)

Any advice at this point is welcome as to what I can do/what I'm doing wrong. She is 71 and uses it to play 4-5 card games, check the news, check Facebook, send e-mails, skype and browse recipes... so I don't have many if any bells and whistles added on and I don't need anything very fancy.

    Thank you!!!

Additional Note: I noticed when I tried to uninstall some pre-installed games she doesn't use from the task bar it redirects me to the Programs & Features Page where the games aren't listed?? This just seemed odd. Thanks, again!

What's the most recommended out of this list? Used for basic productivity, and general word/powerpoint/excel stuff. If not these, what is something for under 300$ that could be picked up brand new from say, Best Buy? Kinda on a time crunch and I hate being rushed. Yall are my last hope, lol. Thanks!

Can I get a Laptop appraisal?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 09:35 AM PDT

Hi, I have a G751JY Laptop that's 2 years and a few months old that I'm trying to sell. I'm just not sure what I'd be able to sell it for, considering all the low price laptops you can get today. I'll list the specs here: - GTX980m 4GB VRAM - Intel i7 4720HQ 2.6 - 3.4GHz - 16GB RAM (expandable to 32) - 1TB HDD+ 256GB SSD - DVD/CD Player (not that it matters) - Screen, Keyboard, battery all in good condition. - CPU/GPU temps are around 40C when Idle.

I still have the original box and have done no OC whatsoever.

I was thinking between 800-1000 based on the specs of laptops in that range today.

Hard to remove laptop back panel Quanta NL5E

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 09:34 AM PDT

Im trying to gain access to the laptop internals to replace the GPU/CPU thermal paste, but I just cant seem to pry the back panel off. Through my struggles I've already cracked a bit of plastic on the side thermal vents so I'm very wary to continue without instruction. I can get the front side of the back panel off easy enough, it's the part at the back, specifically around the screen hinges, which just doesnt seem to want to budge.

laptop is one of these boyos : https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Vector-RTX-Configurator which model is apparently a Quanta NL5E

Manuals for Quanta Laptops online seem to be non existent event though they seem to be a large ODM :(
