    My favorite apps (list)

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 03:44 AM PDT

I have seen some posts like that in the past and it's always nice to discover some new apps so I decided to do the same. Of course, it's just my opinion. Have a nice day :)

    - AdGuard : a very good ad blocker which works locally. Kinda like Blokada but in better in my opinion.

    - Firefox Preview : my only browser since it's out and I'm in love with it. Very good UI and seems more fluid than the original version.

    - Solid Explorer : the best file explorer in my opinion. A lot of functionalities and personalisation.

    - Macrodroid : one of my favorite app ever. I do A LOT of things with it, it's litterally a life-changer to me lol

    - Aqua Mail : I love this mail app, the design is perfect to me, a lot of options too. I just have some doubts about the company but it seems much less worst than BlueMail and some others.

    - Enpass : my fav password manager with the best UI in my opinion. Yes it's not open-source but I can use webDAV to sync the file where I want to.

    - Flesky : really good keyboard with good privacy, a lot of useful gesture too. No swype.

    - KLWP / KLCL : I love personnalisation and minimalistic design, those apps are powerful and you kinda can do anything you have in mind with a bit of reflexion.

    - Nova : my launcher since a few years now. I confess I didn't try any new ones but I'm perfectly satisfied with Nova.

    - Textra : my text app since a few years, it lacks some things but still very good.

    - VLC : the best video player, free and open source.

    - Etar : open-source and free AOSP agenda. It's all I need.

    - Borealis : my fav icon pack. Good looking.

    - Cameraless : I'm kinda paranoid sometimes. It blocks the camera all the time and I use Macrodroid to decide when it "opens" the camera.

    - DAVx5 : it's a very good cal/cardDAV client, even if it lacks of options.

    - Daylio : I use it daily since the beginning of the year, I write a bit of everything about my days and all.

    - FolderSync : awesome app, it allows me to sync files between my NAS and my phone daily. It works with Drive or Dropbox too.

    - Notify & Fitness : for Xiaomi devices, way better than MiFit in my opinion with a loooot of options.

    - Palabre : really good RSS reader with a nice UI.

    - Shuttle : simple but good music player, it does all what I need.

    - Simple Galerie : same, simple but perfect to me.

HELP: My most dependent app has disappeared!

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 06:27 AM PDT

Over the last five years, I have used a simple, expense tracking app named Pocket Expense that has tracked every single cent (well, Rupee, since I'm in India) that I have ever spent.

I decided to do a factory reset of my phone to clear out a lot of trash that had accumulated over the years after carefully backing up the data as well as exporting a *.CSV of the file to my email. I log back into the Play Store and that app is no where to be seen. It's not in my recently used apps list or anywhere on the store.

I know there are expense tracking apps with better features available but this app has been my go-to for far too long. If nothing, I'd like to get it back just to keep note of the expenses so far.

If you could help find it, I'd be forever indebted to you!

    EDIT: Got it! Thank you!

TREBEL Music is a free legal music download & Offline listening app. Search for your favorite Song/Artist/Album or browse through popular playlists. Preview the song before you download. Then, watch a short ad while your song gets added to your music library. Head to your library to create your own playlists or listen to your music right away online or offline with no interruptions. Share conversations with a community of users and let them know what you think of the song.

    Notable Features:

    • Ability to listen offline.
    • Little to no mobile data usage.
    • Unlimited offline music storage through intelligent caching.
    • Background play.
    • Reduced mobile battery usage during playback.
    • High quality audio.
    • Music Sync to App's Library.

    How is the app legal?

The ads pay for the music.

TREBEL is like a bank and spend model. Instead of watching or listening to ads every other song, you engage with ads in other moments (Browsing, Downloading, etc) and earn coins for doing so. Then, you use those coins to listen to music without interruptions.

    Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mmm.trebelmusic&hl=en_US

Currently available in U.S. & Mexico. Soon Latam.

[PSA] Use ADM HOLO instead of ADM

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 04:55 AM PDT

Advanced Download Manager now seems to include trojan (https://redd.it/cwx8on).
Users who are bothered by this development can use Advanced Download Manager Holo by DimonVideo. It has almost all of the necessary features but has old Holo UI.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dv.adm.old

Both ADM and ADM Holo were previously offered by DimonVideo. But recently, it seems ADM's owner has changed. Wonder what's going on.

Bonus: For open-source enthusiasts, Download Navi is a nice open-source download manager.

Is there an app that makes me use my allocated data into a standard usage data?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:30 AM PDT

I am a prepaid user, here in our country our shitty providers have promos that youll have a certain data allocation for standard data usage and a separate dedicated data allocation for certain apps like youtube etc. My youtube allocation has grown to almost 200GB and i cant fully use it because well, its youtube dedicated and sucks its only on 240p and below. Is there an app which i can convert that dedicated data into general use? Thanks

Connect to home pc while at work using phone?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 05:52 AM PDT

Can anyone recommend me an app/program that would allow me to remote into my home pc from my phone while at work? I'm not connected to wifi as I work outside, if that matters.

Basically I play World of Warcraft and at night the queue to login is about 6 hours. So my plan is to remote in while at work so I can enter the queue early enough to get in at a reasonable time at night instead of 1am.

ImageViewHolder.getAdapterPosition() / .getLayoutPosition() does not work Ask

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 09:33 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

I am using a RecyclerView to display a bunch of images that I've uploaded to firebase. When I click on an image, a popupMenu appears with some buttons to add and delete that image.

I want to get my recyclerView's actual position to then parse that position into a Firebase query to add that image to a different "table" or delete it.

The problem I have is that .getAdapterPosition() does not return the real current item position in the RecylerView. Sometimes it skips a number, and when I'm scrolling back up it doesn't go like 6,5,4...,0.

I must be doing something wrong, please help.

I have also tried .getLayoutPosition() and .getItemId()...

    Please check my code here.

    Thank you for your help.

Suggestions for Live Scores app with notifications

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 08:59 AM PDT

Looking for a sports app with live scores and real-time notifications. My primary interests are Football (EPL), NBA and Cricket. I'm fine if it works just for Football/Soccer because I have NBA app & Cricinfo app for NBA & Cricket respectively.

I'm currently using 365 Scores which does the job perfectly for me. Its biggest advantage is it also has a video section where I can view the highlights. But the app is littered with way too many ads. Is there any better app which does the job or is 365Scores still my best bet?

ODT Audio driver suddenly stopped working.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 03:30 AM PDT

I have a logitech USB microphone, and I plugged it into an android 6.0.1 phone and it was working very well on open-camera and voice-recorder apps. Fast forward 3 weeks, I try to record voice in both programs and they audio driver is broken: Voice-Recorder pauses at zero seconds and doesn't record any files, Open-Camera records something and then doesn't save the file, with error message "file may be corrupted". A different program has said "microphone is being used by another app" ... even when all apps are closed. Why can an ODT microphone driver suddenly fail on Android 6.0.1? I cleared some files using google files and that was the only odd technical issue that can have happened.
