engineering sample CPU hyperthreading Posted: 21 Aug 2019 02:51 AM PDT I upgraded my cpu to a Qh73 on an h110m-hds r3.0 mobo and had a clock watchdog timeout error bsod about once every 12 hours. My PC would also crash whenever I ran a memory threaded test on passmark. After messing around in BIOS I disabled hyperthreading and now it doesn't crash. However, now I have half the number of cores. Is there any way of half enabling hyperthreading without my PC crashing. I have flashed my BIOS to every version available and it hasn't fixed anything. Can resetting your PC "by button" harm your hardware? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 06:04 AM PDT Hello everyone! Quick and silly post here. I recently built a new computer which I am really proud of. Unfortunately, after getting everything together I had a problem that made my windows have some difficulties with booting up (It froze at the login screen) and I had to restart "by a button" to make my system work properly. Fortunately, after digging in bios, updating it and other drivers I managed to fix the problem, although now I have this strange, paranoic feeling that by resetting my pc I could break some hardware. Can someone ease the mind of a noob pc-builder? I'd hugely appreciate it. Also, I'd like to add that the system works perfectly now. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Aug 2019 03:27 AM PDT So here's my funny little story my laptop's password has "1" in it, but that button seems to ignore the entire existence of my finger, fist, dildo, elbow, no matter how hard i press it, it won't do anything. Is there any way i could unlock my laptop or do i have to send it to the Lord? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Aug 2019 06:21 PM PDT As the title says. I use a Microsoft Surface Pro 6 and it has a tiny hard drive, so I bought micro sdx cards (idr if that's the name, it's the new ones). I have a lot of my stuff installed on it, including all games. My PC cannot detect that the card is inserted. I tried taking it out and reinserting and restarting the PC. Not sure what to do from here, any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys! [link] [comments] |
Can’t open any app in LG Smart Tv Posted: 21 Aug 2019 04:34 AM PDT I have an LG Smart TV, model 55UB850V-ZD. In the TV every time I try to open any app (Netflix, LG store, Live TV, YouTube) a black screen appears then some geometric shapes with a PlayStation controller, emoji wearing headphones and a microphone in the middle of the screen, then goes back to black and after goes to the squares, it makes this several times. After this it goes back to the normal TV and the app I tried to open doesn't open. May I have some help? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Aug 2019 11:04 PM PDT Okay, this has been a recurring problem and I'm really fucking pissed, so excuse my colourful language. My fucking shitbox of a PC constantly gets confused as to where it should boot from. The hard drive? The optical drive? This USB stick I just plugged in? I can usually fix the problem on my own, but now I'm just not in the mood for this bullshit. So a while back my optical drive was causing some issues, so I just unplugged it. Problem solved. (The cables where wobbly and kept getting unplugged, causing shutdowns) Today I got a new monitor and it came with a disk with some drivers on it, so I figured it wouldn't be too much trouble if I just plugged the drive back in and used it real quick. That's where the trouble started. It tried to boot once, getting stuck on a blue screen, then twice, then three times before I opened the boot menu to see if the boot order was shitting the bed again. I opened it and everything looked fine. I tried starting it with the disk drive unplugged again and it didn't work, obviously. (I may have plugged the optical drive in wrong) So now I'm just getting an "insert boot drive with boot media blah blah peepee poopoo" and the boot menu's boot devices submenu is empty. It's not even recognising the hdd anymore. Someone please help. I'm so sick of this shit. (On mobile because of obvious reasons) [link] [comments] |
Samsung 'Secure Erase' - is it safe to do when there is OS installed on the SSD ? Posted: 21 Aug 2019 02:37 AM PDT So i need to permanently erase data from my SSD, because i will be selling my old PC. Now i read about this 'secure erase' feature that is built-in feature of Samsung Magician, and i found this tutorial https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/support-software/Samsung-Secure-Erase-949/ but it doesn't state in it if it's safe to do when the OS is installed on the drive. I get it that after i do the erase the OS will be erased as well, but my question is: After the erase can i install windows on it normally with my CD ? Because they say something about the drive being unallocated, and what not on the site, and when it comes to drives i'm pretty much an amateur. [link] [comments] |
Laptop throttles while gaming for almost no reason at all Posted: 20 Aug 2019 10:33 PM PDT So I recently bought a Razer Blade Stealth 13 (2019) with an Nvidia MX150 GPU. I've been playing League of Legends and for most of the time, it runs at a solid 120 fps while GPU is under full load. However, there have been frequent occasions where the fps drops to ~50. While using HWMonitor to see check thermals and GPU/CPU usage, I saw that the GPU usage reaches only a max of ~40% while I have fps drops. I installed the latest drivers for my graphics card, and I'm stuck on why this is happening. [link] [comments] |

Computer says im low on space but its an almost empty computer Posted: 20 Aug 2019 09:20 PM PDT I have a laptop which says I have used 96.5GB out of 110GB I deleted all my temp files, recycled my empty bin, and deleted all unessecary apps. I have no idea why I have 73.2GB used on apps and games and I have checked with malware bytes to see if it is some kind of malware. I would appreciate it if someone helped me to figure out the problem. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Aug 2019 04:07 AM PDT So there's this file stuck on one of my hard drives named "Screencast 2019-01-03 15:45:56.mp4" (I believe it comes from a Linux machine, and I'm currently running Windows 10) When attempting to move, delete, or rename the file Windows tells me the file name is "too long" This file refuses to die, and it's bugging the crap out of me. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |

Harddrive being really weird writing/reading files Posted: 21 Aug 2019 02:54 AM PDT I'm on windows 10 build 1903, the hard drive in the scenario are WD hard drives (blue) I'm having a really weird issue with my hard drive let's call my internal hard drive: HDD-01, and the external drive I'm moving my files to will be: HDD-XX i downloaded a file, let's call it File XYZ, and saves onto HDD-01 perfectly i want to move File XYZ from HDD-01 to HDD-XX the move was a success; however, when accessing File XYZ from HDD-XX, it takes so long to open / sometimes it opens and crashes if i tried to move File XYZ from HDD-XX back to HDD-01, it takes forever and the move sometimes even crash / stops responding (basically i wont be able to move back to HDD-01, the file is dead on HDD-XX) all the existing files on HDD-XX works fine, opens and doesn't crash, can also transfer to HDD-01 without error File XYZ itself is not corrupted because it works fine when opening from HDD-01 but if i moved File XYZ to HDD-XX, the file will crash / stop responding (basically causing my explorer.exe to stop responding and crash) on a separate note: the same File XYZ works completely fine on my friend's computer is something wrong with my HDD-XX? even though everything else on the drive seems to be working fine, opens fine, transfer fine to HDD-01 i did a scan on HDD-XX and said it had no problems, also did optimizing and de-fragmentation on the drive [link] [comments] |

Posted: 21 Aug 2019 01:31 AM PDT Hey guys! I consider myself a guy who can solve any PC related problems and I'm the one who repairs everyone's computer in my family, among my friends and even at my workplace but now I've been struggling for the last few weeks with my own PC so I decided to seek help in here. I've got a PC with pretty good - or at least okay - specs (8 GB RAM, AMD A6-7400K 3.5 GHz Dual Core CPU, NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 2 GB Graphic Card) with original Windows 10 installed on it. I have never had any kind of problem since I got this PC almost 2 years ago. It used to run fast, turn on in no time, run many kinds of PC games without problem. But a month ago I noticed a problem when one of my PC games, which usually loads in 30 secs, didn't load in like 10 minutes. I checked the task manager and it said that my CPU usage was 100% even though nothing else was running in the background. It took me like 2 days to solve the problem with a tool that updates my drivers but suddenly another problem occured and now my Disk usage was 99-100% all the time. The driver updater didn't solve the problem so after searching for viruses and finding nothing, I tried everything else I could think of (from disabling Windows Search and SuperFetch to resetting virtual memory) but nothing helped. Even when i turned on my computer, it took about 20 minutes until my desktop completely loaded (icons didn't load, the tray didn't even appear, etc.). I decided to reinstall my Windows. I did so, I even erased data on partitions so no files survived the reinstallation. The problem seemed to finally be solved but then after a few days, the 100% disk usage reappeared out of nowhere (didn't download anything from the Internet except Google Chrome and LoL). Once again, I tried everything I could to solve the problem but nothing seemed to help. I thought it could be a hardware problem with SATA cables or something like that so I changed them but once again, nothing helped. The problem is different after the reinstallation of Windows, though, because the problem now occurs randomly, so it is not a constant state. Sometimes it runs any game with highest settings without a single lag, sometimes it takes it 20 minutes to even turn on and load into the desktop. Every time I turn on my computer, it's like Shrödinger's cat: it either loads very fast or loads VERRRRYYY slowly. I really don't know what to do now because I need my computer for work and for college as well and it is unusable when the desktop loads in 20 minutes and even task manager loads in like 5 minutes. Microphone is being detected but not recognized by applications Posted: 21 Aug 2019 05:08 AM PDT I bought a new Cosmic Byte g3300 headset that comes with a microphone and a dedicated 3.5 mm jack for that. The mic shows response as green bars in the Sounds > Recording but if I try to configure it, there is no response. Same thing with the Settings > System > Sound. Most of the games, discord, the recorder or any other app/software that uses mic are just ignoring it. Please help me out of this as I need the mic to function for most of the things I do. I have tried:
With no errors or prompts about what the problem is, I stumped as to what to do. I'm using it with a Lenovo Y50 laptop with Realtek HD audio drivers if that helps. [link] [comments] |

[WIN10] Mouse pointer acting out / not working after closing games / waking from sleep? Posted: 21 Aug 2019 05:00 AM PDT My desktop has had this issue for some weeks now, and it's getting hella frustrating, but I don't know how to fix it. Sometimes, when waking my PC from sleep or closing a game (often by Alt-F4), my mouser pointer will flip out and stop working as intended. First of all, it will not either of my 3 screens. It will simply stop at the border of the middle. like, the mouse goes into the other screen. If I hold down on the (so I select multiple things) and move it across the monitors, the select "box" or "net" appears on the other screens, but the mouse pointer itself is stuck on my middle monitor. So, while the mouse "technically" still works on my other screens, it's functionally unusable. And even on my main screen it will have issues. It will start changing into different symbols, like the mouse select text icon, or even glitching out entirely and showing a messed up (hard to describe) artifact issue or something? NOTHING I TRY TO FIX IT WORKS EXCEPT FOR A FULL REBOOT. I've tried closing every process I have running, changing resolutions or shutting off and enabling different screens. It will not be fixed by anything but a reboot. It also happens sometimes in-game. Some games are slow, and I alt-tab to browse the web when waiting. Sometimes, when alt-tabbing, the mouse will have the issue, but it's fixed by clicking the game-screen, and alt-tabbing until it works. It seems to be some kind of issue with going from game focus to desktop? FWIW I've only had the issue since recently upgrading my PC with: AMD 3700X MOBO: X570-F GAMING RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHZ, 16gb It's a minor issue, but at the rate it's been happening, every time I close a game it's 50/50 on whether I have to reboot the entire computer. Updating graphics drivers does not seem to have worked either. Thank you for your help. [link] [comments] |
My second monitor randomly restarts Posted: 21 Aug 2019 01:14 AM PDT Hello, So I have this problem with my dual monitor set up. My second monitor (LG 24MP47HQ IPS) connected via HDMI is restarting randomly as if I have unplugged the HDMI cable and plugged it back on. This usually happens when I am playing a game on my main monitor. I did try to change the cable but the problem persisted. Sometimes might never happen during my gaming session, sometimes its constant every few minutes, it's very frustrating and random. However I need to point out that my main monitor (Asus MG248QR 144hz) is using displayport (could what be the reason?) My PC specs are: i5 6600k OC on 4300 MHz, 16 Gb DDR4 RAM, RTX 2070 SUPER, 750W PSU EVGA gold, MB Asus Z170-E. If anyone might have some ideas as of what the cause of the problem might be, would appreciate it a lot! Thanks a lot in advance! [link] [comments] |
Can someone help me write a quick program to grab some data? Posted: 21 Aug 2019 04:56 AM PDT Another user was kind enough to do so but my computer crashed and lost the data sent. The idea is I need to go to one site, which has about 2000 sub pages, from these sub pages, it links to another page where the information is located and is what I need to get. It would be extremely tedious to click the links one by one, which is why I would be appreciative and grateful and if someone could lend their wizardry. [link] [comments] |
