Issues with black screen, cpu debug light, and amd error message on approximately month old build Posted: 01 Jun 2019 02:06 PM PDT I finished building my new PC approximately a month ago (finished build on May 1 got, Windows installed, updated, and the way I like it by May 2/3). These are the components I have:
(I went with the 850w power supply because I thought for $100 it was a good deal that would last me through upgrades with more powerful components). After, installing Windows, doing the Windows updates, and installing drivers for IIRC the graphics card (or it could have been the HD audio drivers, I forget which at this time) I rebooted because it wanted me to. My machine came back up just fine, I was using a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse at the time, so I had to wait a few minutes for the machine to recognize them before I could log back in (so I thought anyway because when I first hit enter it was not recognized, don't know if that is because of what happened next or not) anyway when I pressed enter, the login box came up and I started to but in my password. All of a sudden, I lose the display to my TV and heard the fans start spinning very fast, when I looked inside the case I saw the CPU debug light on. Shut the machine off and waited a few minutes then turned it back on and it was fine. Between the first time and the next time, I had moved the machine upstairs, plugged it into the monitor shown in the parts list above with a DVI to HDMI adapter and the power plug is directly in the outlet (not going through a surge protector like it was downstairs). About 4/5/6 days later, it happened again after having the computer in sleep mode and coming back to use it from being away (pressed power button, logged in fine, but display went black and same symptoms as before). I think this is when I went into the bios and changed a whole bunch of settings that I cannot remember right now. Then about a week or so later (May 17), I was turning on my computer to start using, logged in, barely clicked on Firefox, and again display went blank, CPU debug light, fans full throttle. After this time, and talking with a co-worker, I decided to check to make sure all the connections between and power supply and components were connected well; as well as the cables to the power supply. Downloaded the latest bios that was on MSI's website and flashed it, and ddu'd the graphics driver just to make sure it wasn't anything involving those. Just to note now, the only "overclocking" I had done to my machine was getting the RAM to run at 3000mhz. I did have to use the manual option a little bit because the a-xmp profile was only able to get the ram to 2933mhz (I think that was the number). Last week, I had left the machine on expecting it to go to sleep after an hour when I left for work one day. When I got off, and got back home, I went upstairs and noticed that the monitor was glowing like it was still on but there was no picture on the screen. When I looked inside the case, I did not see the CPU debug light on; I took off the side of the case and did not hear the fans running at full speed either. The machine was otherwise un-reponsive so I figured it had happened. After flashing the BIOS the last time, I had not gotten a chance to re-change the xmp settings of the RAM, so I do not know that was what caused this time to be different. So, far, this week, I have not experienced an issue, but then again, I have been turning off my machine when I leave for work and just generally haven't used it that much this week because of being busy. But, every time this week that I have turned it on; the AMD settings app has given me an error stating "The default wattman settings have been restored due to power failure". This message has come up before the last three times that the issue has happened but only have turning the machine back on from hard restarting it. Again, now happening every time I turn the machine on from it being shut down. Does anyone know what could be causing this, or give something to test with so that I may see what the issue is linked to? I don't think it is an issue or anything overheating because the machine does when I am not doing anything or that something specific I am doing is causing these "crashes" to happen because they happened in four different situations. Any help would be greatly appreciated in figuring out if something is defective because if it happens again, I may just contact Amazon ask them to please let me return everything (or most everything) and start over hoping I don't get weird parts. Thank you for reading, let me know if you have questions or if there is anything I didn't explain well that might give you more information about what this is doing. Look forward to hearing some answers! [link] [comments]
Hackintosh stuck in EHCI controller [8086:283a]c at 00:1a.7 DMA @ fc704800 Posted: 01 Jun 2019 06:31 PM PDT so I have this old Vaio all in one VGC-LT18E and I want to install OSX El Capitan on it cuz I decided to give it to a relative. They asked me if I could install mac osx so whatever easy right? it should be compatible with it cuz it has intel cpu and nvidia gpu so imma just make a hackintosh system. but when I followed this guide, but when I got to the part where you boot into the usb, I get stuck. I used -v argument and its stuck at a line that says "EHCI controller [8086:283a]c at 00:1a.7 DMA @ fc704800". I'm a noob with hackintosh installs so i'm not sure what to do. I also tried it on my main pc and it booted just fine, so the usb isn't the issue, it must be the all in one, but idunno if it just isn't compatible with hackintosh or if I am doing something wrong [link] [comments]
Unable to use my laptop for an unknown reason Posted: 01 Jun 2019 07:31 PM PDT Everytime I turn on my laptop it's almost as if its frozen, I'm able to sign into my account and it takes me to my home screen but that's about it. A few days ago it was fine until I tried to run an update from McAfee, then everything stopped functioning. I could move my cursor but that was about it, if I clicked on something it wouldn't respond and sometimes the cursor would show me it was loading but would take quite a long time to even open a program. The most I'm able to do is open the start menu and open McAfee, I've tried over and over to run a scan for malware/viruses but each time I do it opens a window to give me a choice between a quick scan or a full system scan(which also takes a while to open), each time I try to run a full system scan it doesn't register and the window goes blank, this seems suspiciously like malware to me(I could be wrong I'm a complete noob). Can anyone please give me some help on how I might be able to fix this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Jun 2019 05:15 PM PDT Hi all, just wanted to know what happened to my PC. I have windows 7 on it. I havent downloaded anything recently and I've run my Malwarebytes and Super Anti-Spyware and nothing came up. My mouse was also laggy and irresponsive and when i forced a shutdown of my computer and restarted it the problem hasn't reoccured. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks. Note: the multiple tabs that were opening up were either blank or going to " BetaDwarf - Official Blog: Minion Masters Friday - Spawn of Fury" site. Here's a picture of the tabs https://i.imgur.com/BOjFqOI.jpg Edit: I have also ran Rkill and Adwcleaner and nothing came up for Rkill and 2 PUPs came up in Adwcleaner. Edit 2: After running adwcleaner and restarting the pc i get a message after turning my browser back on that 2 new extensions have been added: MSN and Bing. and its asking me if I want to enable them. My computer is making a strange noise sporadically (crackling/stuttering/whirring) Posted: 01 Jun 2019 02:08 AM PDT Every 10 to 30 seconds my computer makes this noise. I have no idea what it is. Possible a fan or something? Done the whole reboot, it goes away for a while, then it comes back constantly. Sometimes it goes on for 10 seconds or so, sometimes it only makes the sound for 1-2 seconds. Video with audio of the issue: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mw2qALBryx_Ygu0mYohmuxbI8G5JKGwI/view?usp=sharing My computer specs: https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/ccqZNQ No hardware or software changes were made the noise just started happening and has been doing it for a month or so without getting worse. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
MS Word changing to portrait hides some of the text Posted: 01 Jun 2019 04:11 AM PDT Hello. I had to convert some PDFs to .doc files. They came up with landscape orientation so I switched to portrait but that made some of the text and pics hidden like page itself is in portrait but text is still like it was in landscape. Is there any way to get to format all to get in portrait without manually pressing enter to fit it all in the page? Thanks. [link] [comments]

Laptop not utilizing Dedicated GPU and reappearing "Ghost Monitor" issue Posted: 31 May 2019 10:30 PM PDT Hi there, My Toshiba laptop has been having this problem for a while where games will only run on the Intel Integrated 5500 Graphics instead of it's GTX 940M Dedicated GPU. If I force games to run through the NVidia Control Panel things will work just fine, however I get this "ghost monitor" connecting then disconnecting (as shown in the GIF below). This causes the cursor to reset to the middle of the screen every few seconds. If I uninstall or disable the IGPU, this fixes that issue, but then I cannot play games utilizing the Dedicated GPU. I have tried everything from re-installing IGPU drivers and Dedicated GPU drivers, re-installing Windows, and disabling the second screen when it flashes under the Devices and Printers screen, know of these have solved this issue. Any help on this problem? https://media.giphy.com/media/2fISueyuIRn21K7hQP/giphy.gif [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 May 2019 08:55 PM PDT I came home and turned my PC On, it made the usual sound when I press the On button, RGB lights went On, then the PC shut down, then in less than a second, it went back On then Off, it keeps doing this I can't even get to BIOS. I took out one stick of RAM. It worked great for an hour, then it went off. Now I'm stuck in a boot loop. What should i do? I took it to pc store near me, they tried different psu and cpu and rams and still having the same issue.
