Are you sitting comfortably? Then we will begin. I got a new phone (OP7 Pro yes its lovely, thanks) and as a treat for my 9yo and a reward for good schoolwork etc I factory reset my old phone (OP5), took out the SIM card,set him up a child Google account managed by Google family link and thought all was cool. His content is restricted and he has to ask me to install anything at all. Today his mum let him take it to holiday tennis camp. Surprising but whatever. His mates have them and he will only be allowed to use it in the breaks. This evening he said to me "daddy theres something I need to show you... If you go here (Google photos) then here (device folders) then here (downloads) there's a video of a woman touching her vagina. I don't know who she is though" Oops. So it seems that Google thinks a useful default behaviour is to synchronise ALL images from the "family manager" account to a phone where the only user is a child with all the content restrictions turned on. Insane if you ask me but there you go. Let's share everything all the time with everyone. And for the life of me I cannot work out how to prevent this I want his Google photos to show ones he takes on his phone, and mine to show mine as well as perhaps store the occasional video of a woman touching her vagina, for... research purposes. What I will end up with is "video good a is This". I only have this problem when replying to another person's comment. When I first got the phone (Galaxy 8) the problem didn't exist. | Help identifying a symbol that was in my status bar Posted: 28 May 2019 08:09 PM PDT Got home from work and looked at my phone to see a symbol I've never seen in my top right status bar. It was to the left of the symbol that says my phones on silent. I shut my phone off and powered it back on and the symbol was gone. I was wondering what it was. The phone is an LG G5 on 8.0 Oreo. It looked like this https://imgur.com/a/0TvY3YL It was in a square that had a small gap in the bottom where a phone was diagonally poking through, with three curved lines coming off the phone going into the box. | system icons in launchers are different with stock icons Posted: 28 May 2019 07:39 PM PDT I've tried few launchers like nova, evie, MS and etc. When I apply a "system" theme, the result is quite different from the icons that appear in the stock launcher. Some just differ in bounday shape but many other are completely different. I didn't applied any theme to the stock launcher. Is this normal for the system theme in custom launchers to be different with default stock launcher icons? [link] [comments]  |

| Chrome web pages saved to home screen lost. Posted: 28 May 2019 07:17 PM PDT So, I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this.. I have a habit of saving websites to my Note 9's homepage in order to revisit them later. I was trying to grt YouTube Vanced and microG installed and fully operational. As part of the log-in issue it was recommended that I uninstalled Chrome temporarily. After I reinstalled Chrome I realised that I lost all of my "saved" websites. Posted: 28 May 2019 10:28 PM PDT I'm looking at the Moto G7 Power right now, which has one sim slot, but also supports CDMA (using whatever is built in). So what happens if I grab, I dunno, AT&T and also grab Sprint, link the internal CDMA to Sprint, then shove the AT&T GSM SIM card in? Do I get "dual-sim" functionality??? | Wifi speed on phone MUCH slower than computers Posted: 28 May 2019 06:23 PM PDT I have an OG google pixel phone with Google Fi, most recent updates installed. The google internet speed test utility usually shows that the wifi speed on my phone is usually between 1 and 2 orders of magnitude slower than the same exact network on my laptop (~50Mpbs on the laptop while the phone might have 0.5 Mbps, over multiple tests within a few minutes of each other). I would have guessed that the laptop would be somewhat faster because of a larger antenna/more processing power etc., but not anywhere near that much discrepancy. Posted: 28 May 2019 10:07 PM PDT Hello guys for some reason last couple weeks my Facebook messenger disappear the 4dots down left in chat that they give u access to share location plan etc and replaced with the face icon that was been in the right side and give u access to the stickers I don't know how to fix it i try clear cache reinstall etc but nothing the only thing i find is if i downgrade to a much older version and after i update it the app the 4 dots the 1 time i open the app will be there working perfect but when i close it again will be gone and replaced by the stickers icon [link] [comments]  |
| How can I use 2nd phone to locate/remote lock my phone? Posted: 28 May 2019 09:57 PM PDT Is there a "trusted users" or anything like that I can use in Android with a PIN# on 2nd phone to help recover my phone if it's lost? I thought I lost my phone the other day, and I use my phone with password manager, in addition to google authenticator that's installed on my phone for almost all websites that support 2FA. Naturally I freaked out because even if I have a back up phone, I won't be able to access even my google account or password managers or anything at all. Can I give my wife's phone (or account) authorization to use findmyphone? or Should I just make my google account password something I can always remember? What are some of your disaster recovery suggestions? Even if I can just get a new phone, getting 2FA set up on all sites will be a tedious job. [link] [comments]  |

So I was using a n app of a news outlet and suddenly it started popping up weird scam ads in my browser. Thinking that my phone was infected with some malware, I decided to nuke it and factory reset my phone as it was due for a periodic reset anyway. The problem still cropped up when I downloaded the app again. Thinking that it was a problem with the app, I deleted the app and only accessed the site via Chrome browser. The pop ups are still coming! How is this possible. It only happens with this one site. | Blocking numbers is impossible? Posted: 28 May 2019 03:02 PM PDT I have a number that calls me about 4-6 times per day (spam) that I CANNOT BLOCK. When I tap the 3 dots in my phone app it has the following options: Call History, Import/export, New Contact and Settings. When I tap 'Settings', my only options are to bar all calls (ingoing/outgoing). I can't bar a specific number. I've tried everything. I have a ZTE, if that helps. | Kindle Fire (1st gen) not recognized in fastboot Posted: 28 May 2019 04:34 PM PDT I have an original Kindle Fire (1st gen), and I'm trying to put a custom ROM on it. I managed to get it into fastboot using this post, and I managed to get it into fastboot mode, but I can't get it through that. It is not detected by either Windows or Linux. I have tried using the generic drivers, the KFU drivers, and the Amazon official drivers to no avail. I have tried swapping USB cables, which also didn't work. I tried using the program Soupkit, which also didn't work as the Kindle wasn't detected. Another thing to note is that with this program, it kept spitting out errors that adb and fastboot weren't detected, despite having just installed them through apt. In Windows, I can't get back to the generic driver, as the device doesn't show in device manager. Help would be extremely appreciated, I don't care if I have to stay on the stock ROM. | Google app not sending notifications Posted: 28 May 2019 09:41 AM PDT Been a issue for awhile and can't seem to find any fix. I have all notification options turned on and set to "pop on screen" for the Google app. But I never receive any notifications even tho I follow stocks/ sports and other things. With dark wallpapers, most of the notes is impossible to read because of the new dark/black widget. Anyway to convert this? It's only dark at night also. And no matter what I set the actual theme mode to (dark or light), the widget is still dark/black at night and unreadable. Any ideas? [link] [comments]  |

| Security policy restricts wifi? Posted: 28 May 2019 11:35 AM PDT I don't use the wifi on my phone much, except when my data is slow or freezes, or I'm in a low data area. Today my data was acting up. I needed it today, and when I tried to switch it on, kept going back and fourth from on to off. At one point I saw a message say a security policy was restricting the wifi. The only solution I could find was to remove an exchange account, which I don't have, nor ever used. Or to do a factory reset, which I don't plan to do, as I know there are other options out there. My phone is a galaxy s8. [link] [comments]  |

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Google app, retrained the voice model and checked the mic is working and that the app has voice permissions. Is anyone else having the same issue?
