Reddit just says "blocked" on a white back ground Posted: 28 May 2019 04:55 PM PDT This happened about an hour ago where every time I try to load into reddit the word "blocked" shows up on the top right corner on a empty white background, doesn't matter what subreddit, anything related to reddit is not loading. Why is this happening and how do I fix it? Edit: I'm currently using a VPN to access reddit :/ Edit 2: It has fixed it self!!!! thanks for the help though. [link] [comments] |
PS4 “disturbs” grandparents dog Posted: 29 May 2019 12:10 AM PDT I'm currently visiting my grandparents that live out of state, I decided to bring my PS4 with me. We noticed that the dog was freaking out and wouldn't sit still. My grandpa came to the conclusion that it was probably my PS4 because around the time I turned it off, the dog stopped freaking out. I couldn't find anything online about it, so I came here. Are there frequencies coming from my console that may be disturbing the dog, or could it be something else bugging him? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2019 01:44 AM PDT Yesterday it was fine, but today the drives are not appearing, only my SSD which has the OS can be seen. I have an msi board, i checked on the board explorer, it shows the "st1000dm003" on a sata port, tried swapping the cables with the cd drive, no avail, just swapped the location of the sata port. It doesnt show up on device management or storage management too. Is it dead? [link] [comments] |
Portugal: General router questions Posted: 29 May 2019 03:34 AM PDT Hey Everyone. The ISP i currently have here in Portugal is MEO - They provide there own altel router while decent has a shit 5g range and seeing as my walls here are all clay brick / cement / plaster, It leaves me wanting for more signal strength. My first thought was Mesh networking and as I searched I learned that replacing this altel router might be a problem as apparently 3rd party routers won't work with there services? I'm not sure if this is dis-information or factual. Not being able to speak the language super well I'm reaching out to any others to find out if this is accurate and if so what options do I have for router replacement. Would an access point / mesh network still function with the altel as my main router? [link] [comments] |
How do I shut down access to the internet system-wide, with the exception of one app? (Mac) Posted: 29 May 2019 03:12 AM PDT Spotify is the app in question. I've been having very strange issues with it that Spotify tech support could not solve, I would like to try troubleshooting by only letting Spotify have access to the internet, and nothing else. Help? [link] [comments] |
I dont know how to open floppydisk files, and cant find the answer anywhere. Please help. Posted: 28 May 2019 08:38 AM PDT So my Grandma asked me to help her get some files of some floppydisk she had. A friend of hers got the files off, but could not open them. So here i am with a bunch of files on a flashdrive i have no idea what to do with. The files themself are in folders named [Random Numbers].ROL Inside these folders are files named [Numbers].SWF There are also some files outside the folders: An emtpy .doc file named [Cousin's name] PNGSETUP.exe pres0.pp5 pres0.ppz SCANUNDO.DAT All the files are dated between 1996-1999 Since there are .SWF files i tried opening them in the firefox browser. I just got a prompt wich asked what firefox should do with this file, and when i clicked "open in firefox" i just got another prompt. I also tried to open the .ROL folder in Winamp, also with no luck. Nothing happend there. I tried opening the PNGSETUP.exe file, with no luck, problably to old and doesnt support newer operating systems [link] [comments] |
Laptop fan modes affect GPU clock speed? Posted: 29 May 2019 01:37 AM PDT So I have an ROG GL503GE laptop. The specs are as follows: i5-8300h GTX 1050 Ti 8GB RAM 256GB M.2 SSD + 500 GB SATA SSD Recently I was playing around with the clock speeds of the CPU and GPU to get the temps down. I put a power limit on the CPU through ThrottleStop to only boost up to 3.0GHz, undervolted by -0.140 V which considerably helped with CPU temps and also overclocked my GPU core clock and memory speeds. The thing that was weird to me is that I have applied the custom profiles for CPU and GPU through ThrottleStop and MSI Afterburner and I couldn't figure out why the GPU was only clocking to 1499Mhz max (the CPU was boosting to 3.0 GHz as intended). Then yesterday I have noticed that if I put the fan mode to Silent (there is a keyboard shortcut to switch between 3 fan modes - Silent, Auto and Overboost) the clocks don't go up to my set limits but if I put it on auto or overboost (which basically sounds like a jet engine) then the clocks go up to my desired clock speeds. My question is whether the fan modes are tied to BIOS settings and if they are in silent the BIOS prevents the GPU clocking to the speeds I set? Because even if I put the fans on auto the fan speeds are minimal and they sort of purr under load with only a little difference in temperatures vs the silent mode. Happy to hear any thoughts. PC Cutting out on game start up Posted: 29 May 2019 03:18 AM PDT Specs: GPU: gtx 960 strix CPU: AMD FX 9590 RAM: Old unbranded 8gb of ddr2 power supply: Unbranded 500w Motherboard: Old ASrock MB ? Can't remember exactly I have had problems over the years with my PC Blue screening mid game and eventually bricking my hard drives, however since then I have replaced quite a few parts (Hard drive, cpu and gpu) and now upon loading up a game (Currently testing with csgo, not very intensive) I can get to just about the main menu, then the entire pc will completely shut off, not shut down, but complete cut of power. has to be rebooted by me manually. I feel as if the only way ill rectify this is by replacing the PSU but thought I'd check to see if anyone has had similar issues. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2019 03:16 AM PDT I have recently bought S10 and I'm not satisfied with its battery life. I fear that there might be some issue with hardware but I want to test it myself before taking it to technician. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 May 2019 09:15 PM PDT Basically my WiFi wasn't turning on and showed a Red Cross. I tried multiple solutions that I thought would work such as network reset, reset to diagnostics and startup repair. None of them worked and resulted in the problem persisting. Eventually ended up trying to go back to recent state of windows as well as factory resetting the laptop but to no avail did they work as concurrently my laptop still shows the WiFi. Edit: I'm a idiot and didn't realise that the WiFi key was turned off. Cheers for the help anyways. [link] [comments] |
How to Update Drivers Without Keyboard or Mouse? Posted: 29 May 2019 04:26 AM PDT My keyboard and mouse recently stopped working and I'm trying to figure out how to update their drivers. Computer wont post after being powered off for longer durations Posted: 29 May 2019 04:10 AM PDT Hi guys! I have this odd issue. My computer wont post if it's been without power for 10+ hours. That is, not disconnected from the net, just turned off. I have to hold the power button for 10 seconds, release and then press again for it to boot. I thought the issue was related to my old Motherboard, but I've since exchanged everything (Mobo, Case, CPU etc) except my PSU and the problem remains. My simple question is: Could it be the PSU or am I going crazy? Can the PSU have some kind of failsafe that's engaged, and could the Motherboard power-on circuit interact with it in such a way? Or does the PSU simply deliver power to the system and any reason for this is elsewhere? [link] [comments] |
Wireless headphones lost sync between themselves Posted: 29 May 2019 04:08 AM PDT Hello, I have these headphones - amazon link On a normal use, you would turn them both on, hear "connected" and then "second device connected" as they pair with the phone/PC. something happened which caused them to "unpair" with one another. So now I turn the on and I'll just hear the first "connected" as they pair with the phone. I've tried with different devices, and they both work individually. Best I could get was pairing them both (as separate devices) with my phone, but only the active one would play any sound. I don't see anything in the instructions regarding this... they just talk about syncing with other devices. Can anyone help, please. :) [link] [comments] |
Is it safe to do quick format only for bitlocker encrypted drive? Posted: 28 May 2019 10:07 PM PDT If drive is bitlocker encrypted, is it ok to do quick format only instead of long format since data is encrypted I'm trying to sell my pc but wasn't sure if long format is needed for bitlocker encrypted drive since it'll take 10 hours if I do quick format bitlocker encrypted drive, does it decrypt deleted data? or deleted data stays encrypted [link] [comments] |
Really bad sound quality when using headphones on Windows 10 Posted: 29 May 2019 03:57 AM PDT For like a week, the sound quality on my PC has been really bad when I'm using headphones. First I thought it was my EarPods because they were pretty old so I decided to buy new earphones. When I first used them on my pc they had bad sound quality so I tried them on my phone and the sound quality was good. The issue has existed for only a week, I tried to update my PC's Realtek driver, tried to install an older driver but I still have the issue. Does anyone have a solution? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2019 12:05 AM PDT I have 16gb of RAM installed currently, but only 7.95gb is usable according to my system info. I went into my BIOS and found that both sticks were being detected but for some reason it was saying my total DRAM size was 8gb. Also, I looked at my resource monitor and it said that the 7.95gb was "Hardware Reserved". I've already tried unchecking the maximum amount of RAM allowed in msconfig and also reseated the RAM sticks. The sticks are also in the proper DIMM slots so I am officially at a loss as to what I an supposed to do to fix this. Also, I'm putting an imgur link of my BIOS at the end of this because it gives more info and it wasn't against the rules. Thanks. BIOS Pic: http://imgur.com/gallery/SketkKP [link] [comments] |
Network Issues on Windows 10 with TP-Link Posted: 29 May 2019 03:35 AM PDT Specs:
The IssueUnless I do some series of restarts (adapter, PC, and router) and network troubleshooting acrobatics, the WiFi connection drops every 2 minutes, with the troubleshooting wizard returning "The default gateway is not available", and then "resolving" the problem for another 2 minutes. After a "fix" (described below), I no longer deal with connection dropping (although I haven't restarted my PC yet, so it's yet to see if this has really solved the problem), but my connection seems to cap out at 500KB/s (4Mbps) down on a network that should most definitely be getting at least 1.2MB/s (10Mbps) and which has gotten that down rate on the same machine, same network, same adapter before. BackgroundAbout a year back I bought this for my stationary PC and it worked fine. Somewhere along the way, a Windows update came along and ruined everything. After days of searching for a solution, I managed to find an obscure thread that pointed out that this adapter uses the Realtek RTL8192cu driver and that someone over there managed to name the file by date and not by version. Since the date was lower than the version number, Windows would find the outdated driver, assume that it was newer than the latest driver, and automatically install it. Installing this newer one and disabling automatic driver updates fixed the problem. Unfortunately, I've had to do a clean install of Windows 10 and have lost this driver, along with the source (several Realtek pages give a 404 error, so they are presumably scattered to the ravages of time). I then downloaded the V3 driver from TP-Link, which is supposed to be compatible with earlier versions of Windows, but running the setup exe resolved the dropped connection issue (at least in the current session--haven't restarted yet). The problem is now that I am maxing out at 4Mbps, when I have gotten 10Mpbs on the same network, same machine, and same adapter. Things I've Tried
I think that maybe using the V4 TP-Link driver from the source mentioned above might resolve the issue, but before I try it and risk spending another hour getting connected to post this, I figured I'd see if there are any suggestions. I'm at my wits end here, ready to grind this freaking adapter into the pavement and buy a new one, but I'm hard-pressed to scrounge up whatever is left after rent to buy an adapter just a year or two after buying this one. Hope someone can help me end this nightmare! Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Redmi 4A disconnects WiFi when hotspot is switched on Posted: 29 May 2019 03:30 AM PDT It was fine before but when I installed and uninstalled a VPN my phone has this issue making my WiFi hotspot unusable. Posted: 29 May 2019 03:30 AM PDT around, a copy of my character would follow, like a shadow and transparent. It's also quick movement and it was very noticeable.. however when on facebook or any white background, I move my cursor (which is a black with white outline cursor) I can see a trail. I saw something about cursor trails and checked that but it was disabled. [link] [comments] |
Why is my XBOX One lagging with very fast internet? Posted: 29 May 2019 03:29 AM PDT Network Stats from the xbox are: Download 95 mbps. Upload 11 mbps. Packet loss 0 percent. MTU 1480. Latency 60 ms. Wireless Strength 84 percent. Xbox is connected with wifi, not ethernet. I am considering going to ethernet but I want to know if that will actually help my issue first. It lags with multiplayer online games like Overwatch or BF5. Any advice is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Power switch broken (XPS 8100) Posted: 29 May 2019 03:06 AM PDT Hi, I think my power switch has gone on my PC. When I press the button nothing works, it's actually been a bit temperamental for about a year, but normally after a few presses it'd start up. I've used a screwdriver to connect the two terminals that the switch connects to to turn the computer on and it starts fine every time. I have a Dell XPS 8100 and the part number is X777R. I just wondered, do I have to buy this part, or are there other ones that will fit? And is it possible anything else could be wrong? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
