Is it possible to have a slideshow desktop background for individual monitors in Windows 10? Posted: 03 May 2019 08:39 AM PDT I want to set a background for my desktop but I have 2 monitors, one horizontal and one vertical. I know I can set the backgrounds individually for both of them and make it static, but I want a slideshow background, so it changes every minute. This is a feature, but every time I try to use it, it changes the background for both of the monitors, but the file I have the backgrounds in are used for both and they aren't compatible because one is horizontal and one is vertical, so I end up with the issue of horizontal images ending up on the vertical monitor and so on. I want to know if you can have two folders of images, one for the background of a vertical monitor and the other for the horizontal monitor and they both work in their own individual slideshow backgrounds. Posted: 03 May 2019 06:01 AM PDT Good morning, I'm drafting a document full of notes for summarized reference of DNS. I was looking at some useful CMD commands and I've never seen the titular command. From what I've gathered, it seems that what it does is it "updates the resolver cache on a host to match the one in Active Directory" (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ad80ec4b-af7a-4d99-b06b-6c7a4013aa39/what-does-quotipconfig-registerdnsquot-actually-do?forum=winserverDS) Can any one confirm this? Also, if there is no Active Directory integration, how would the DNS update? Many thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
OneDrive is literally backing up EVERY image on my PC Posted: 03 May 2019 03:00 PM PDT I'm talking game assets, rainmeter icons, literally anything that is in image format it's backing up. They are all showing up on the OneDrive app on my phone. All I really want it to do is back up my phone camera and the folders which I keep in my OneDrive folder on the PC. How do I turn off backing up all images? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 May 2019 04:46 PM PDT Because of the cheap Xbox game pass price right now, I decided to buy it and wanted to download Sea of Thieves. Sea of Thieves needs approximately 37GB of space, and I had enough (about 50gb). I downloaded it, and it gave me an error message. I found a solution to the error online, and they told me to restart my computer after trying it. I did so, but now the game wants me to install it AGAIN. And not only that, I don't have enough disk space since the game already downloaded. I deleted everything from my "Downloads"-folder, but it is still too little space, and I can't find where to delete it. If anyone could help me out, it would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
Need help (Windows Advanced Boot Options not working) Posted: 03 May 2019 11:28 AM PDT So my computer has been having an issue with what I assumed was its display driver. Whenever I booted up the computer the display would flicker and if I opened a game it would freeze the screen and I would be forced to restart. Naturally what I did was uninstall my current graphics driver and reinstall it (AMD Radeon HD 7800 series). It worked for all of 5 minutes, no flicker perfectly booted before the screens went black. I tried to reboot it but when I get to the Windows screen the Windows Icon is warped and it freezes. Im basically stuck there. When i tried to used the Advanced Boot Options it only gave me two options which is 'Start Windows Normally' or 'launch Start Up repair' which brings me back to my computer commiting harikiri. I notice that online there are supposed to be other options like 'Use last known good configuration' among other things. I was hopong to uninstall the driver and get to the files but i only get the previously mentioned two options. Im currently using Windows 7 and at this point I just want to be able to get my files off the computer so I can bring them to the next computer UNLESS someone can help me fix this. I would appreciate help on either of these two options [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 May 2019 06:10 PM PDT I'm not very good with computers and I somehow found myself disabling windows event collector in msconfig. So I started up in safe mode and enabled it and restarted, but I was unable to load my computer without being on safe mode. Could someone explain to me why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks I'm running 8.1 btw. Edit: alright I know not a single person has seen my post but the problem magically fixed itself I have never been more confused in my life Edit 2: i restarted again and it no longer works [link] [comments]
Binding audio from a program to a device Posted: 03 May 2019 05:51 PM PDT I like to keep TV shows on in the background, played through a TV that's connected to my PC via HDMI, while I fool around with other stuff on my main monitor. Is there an easy way in Windows to choose which programs play audio to a specific device? I did a quick google search and all I found was instructions for switching between audio devices. Posted: 03 May 2019 11:25 AM PDT I uninstalled a game, and the entire folder which had all my (other)games is now gone. My hard drive has gained free space which was the equivalent of the entire folder. What actually happened here? Can I get my folder back? I do not think I have a recovery point set :c [link] [comments]
Windows 10 Problems after Reboot Posted: 03 May 2019 05:18 PM PDT This morning I rebooted my Windows 10 laptop. Before I rebooted, the laptop was displaying on a monitor through HDMI. Now Windows 10 can't detect the monitor. I tested another monitor. The problem occurred on the second monitor. I discovered other new issues: I get a pop-up window to the renew the privacy settings on Word. Also, on the taskbar, the Word icon and the download icon are different. Please help. Thank you! Cant run troubleshooter and services.msc is blocked by admin Posted: 03 May 2019 01:06 PM PDT I tried running the troubleshooter for my microphone and I got "A program is preventing the troubleshooter from starting" with an error code of 0x80070490. Then I looked it up and one fix I found required me to open the services.msc file. I got a message "The app has been blocked for your protection" "An administrator has blocked you from running this app". I scan everything I download with a paid version of Kaspersky so it doesnt have anything related to that and windows came legaly with the laptop. Now my microphone doesn't work... EDIT: I fixed the services thing but still struggling with the troubleshooter [link] [comments]
Weird issues after Windows 10 Update Posted: 03 May 2019 04:37 PM PDT Windows 10 managed to install the latest big update (Feature update / Windows 10, version 1809) and it seems to of completely deleted my AMD GPU drivers & software, random DLL's needed for games/programs, even my RealTek equalizer presets, every time I go to use something I find another thing that now needs to be examined & fixed......is this normal? Have others had similar things happen after updates? Also...just in case anyone knows a quick solution, the latest issue I've run into is: I'm assuming it has probably removed my DirectX drivers as well. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 May 2019 06:49 AM PDT I come from a Mac background. What's the equivalent of "repairing permissions" or some small steps I can't take to ensure my machine is all in check? I have a Windows 7 Pro setup. Explorer crashes/hangs and it struggles to shutdown properly. Most times, I have to hold the power button down to restart. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 May 2019 03:13 PM PDT I did a quick search and I didn't see this issue; sorry if I was wrong! A few years back, I had a laptop and on it I had lots of documents. One document was my resume. That laptop is no more, but I still have an external hard drive onto which I had it backed up. I want to edit the resume, but I cannot open it because I don't have permission. How do I give myself permission on my new computer, to view a file which has permissions linked to an old computer? Windows asks <<resume closed browser tabs?>> how to stop this? Posted: 03 May 2019 02:40 PM PDT Maybe its a feature but it proves to be very annoying when im watching a show, plus i dont want my family to know what im googling, nor do i care what they are googling. How do i turn this off? [link] [comments]
Just built a new PC and having trouble installing windows. Posted: 03 May 2019 02:39 PM PDT So today I completed the build of my first PC and I must say I am satisfied with how it turned out. Everything seemed to be good but, when I try to install windows from a USB nothing seems to happen, the computer just turns on ant the text "Republic of Gamers" comes up. Then it for some seconds some dots going in a circular motion (which I assume represents loading) comes for a couple of seconds under the text but then both the text and loading disappear. And the screen shows nothing. Then nothing, the same screen for ten minutes. I downloaded through the UEFI BIOS Utility boot mode where I have selected my flash drive (USB) and selected boot option 1 "UEFI: Generic Flash Disk 8.07 Partition 1 (7800MB). I downloaded windows on the usb through media creation tool. Please help I am devastated and don't know what to do. [link] [comments]

Unusual CPU Usage During Windows updates, CrashPlan & ESET Posted: 03 May 2019 09:41 AM PDT In our fleet we had a group of ~50 machines that were stuck on 1607 and were unable to see updates in Windows Updater and through SCCM. We find that removing the Registry.pol file and restarting (creating a new reg.pol file) fixed the update issue. We rolled this solution out to the machines that were in need of updates and we thought it was working perfectly until the help center started getting pegged with calls from individuals saying there machines fans were at full blast for hours and there machines were "sluggish" and "unresponsive." I have been able to replicate the issue on a new machine with a fresh install of 1607. In Task Manager we can see the CPU is pegged at 99 percent with "Service Host: Local System" taking up 40-60%, CrashPlan taking up 15-25%, ESET hanging at ~15 percent and "WMI Provider Host" hanging around 10%. While the simple solution would seem to be "Just let the machine update," the machine is not functional enough for our end users to get work done. We are grasping at straws to figure out what changes we can make to get the machines in more manageable states, but have not found much and are hoping the community could help. Ive included some more details about systems below, that might help in getting a resolution. Computer Models: All Dell Latitudes: E5450, 5470, 5480 CrashPlan Settings: Full disk backup (including OS), excluding CCMtemp and other cache directories . Default CPU usage is set to 20% attended, 80% unattended. [link] [comments]
