Can you help me find the perfect 3rd party Reddit app?

    Posted: 03 May 2019 05:21 AM PDT

Hi, I've tried tens of reddit apps, but I still can't find the perfect one, can you help me find it?

The best 3 for me are Slide, Boost and Sync, but one lacks something from the other. Always.

Sync - Very polished, good UI. What it lacks? You cant crosspost, you can't navigate through comments.

Slide - Probably the best feature wise, you can navigate through comments, you can crosspost, you can download video with audio already built in. But it isn't really polished, for instance, you can't see if someone has a cake day or not + some minor issues

Boost- Very polished, the most to the original reddit app, but you can't download video with audio (just like sync), you can crosspost though. It loads pictures slower than Slide. + The comments aren't color differentiated. And you can't see the upvote percentage

So what am I looking for? More polished Slide, where I can see someone's cake day.

    Thank you

    Posted: 03 May 2019 10:22 AM PDT

I am planning to buy one of those. Has anyone tried both? What are pros and cons?

I am inclined to buy acalendar Pro.

Let me know if there are other paid alternatives? I would like one time payment and not subscription apps like todoist or ticktick

Has Spotify started removing Japanese albums for Indian users?

    Posted: 03 May 2019 07:51 AM PDT

This is for Indians who listen to Japanese songs (if any). I know For the past one month or so, I could play all songs in any albums by artists like Perfume and World Order. Now on the app. After the last update, I'm only seeing album names with no content in them now. Looks like Spotify doesn't want us to listen to Japanese songs anymore. I think some Kpop albums might have disappeared too. Not sure though.

    Screenshot-2019-05-com-spotify-music.png

Most of the albums I used to listen to are like this image above now. Songs play only if they are in liked list and cached in phone. The rest of the songs disappeared after the last update. Are you missing songs in your list now?

Is there an app store/way where I can find more obscure apps?

    Posted: 03 May 2019 05:44 AM PDT

Google Play only features a handful of apps. The rest are buried and you can only find them if you search by name. Is there an app store/way where I can find more obscure apps?

Searching for app to track routes travelled in map/city

    Posted: 03 May 2019 10:47 AM PDT

    Hi

I'm searching for an Android app that keeps track of the routes when I'm walking/running, but keeps track of them forever. E.g if I use it in a city and walk a certain street, I want that street to be colored red and marked "forever", indicating that I already visited that street/block. I want to use it to basically keep track of the streets and places I've been in a city so, for example, when I take a walk I can see the streets I haven't been on yet and can detour to them and "fulfill the map".

The apps I see that have something similar like this only mark a specific route: a walk, run, hike, etc; they don't keep a single map/route that keeps continuously updating. Plus, most of those apps are focused on fitness, timing, pedometers, etc. I just want the route painted on the map, nothing more (no fitness, no heart monitor, nothing else).

Is there something like this? Thanks!

Is there a Launcher that is nothing but a list of apps

    Posted: 03 May 2019 10:04 AM PDT

I'm looking for a launcher that's nothing but a list of apps. No widgets, no home screens, just an app list. Something like this but more updated: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amagital.launcher.list

Am I missing out on anything by not using the Google app and Gmail app?

    Posted: 03 May 2019 04:42 AM PDT

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me these apps are just crap and bloat forced by Google. Why would I search using the Google app if I would end up opening links to Chrome anyway? And why would I open the Gmail app instead of just opening it in a browser tab?

What are the pros and cons?

SMS apps that let you copy multiple messages?

    Posted: 03 May 2019 08:26 AM PDT

Most SMS apps I've tried don't let you select multiple messages, and even if you can, it doesn't copy the name and the date. For example, this is what WhatsApp does if you copy multiple messages:

    [4/28, 12:15 PM] Friend: hey

    [4/28, 12:18 PM] Me: hey

    [4/28, 12:19 PM] Friend: I'm outside

I'm looking for something that will let me do the same thing, but with SMS. Anyone know of any options?

[DEV] First Android app complete: Fitness trainer that generates 15,000 different video workouts with voice coaching

    Posted: 03 May 2019 06:42 AM PDT

    Hello,

We're a couple of devs and just finished our first serious Android app.

The app is a sort of personal trainer that creates bodyweight workouts to do online or offline on the go.

We wanted to make it easy for the user, so there's an exercise knowledge base behind it and a custom algo that does all the work for you.

You can input your preferences like duration, difficulty, body area, training focus, and variety, and the algo creates a unique full-length video workout for you.

We also built our own software to produce relevant high quality voice coaching on exercise form, variations etc. that varies per workout, like a real trainer would (kinda).

Please let us know if you try it out, we'd love to hear all feedback!

    Check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumpycatapp

Note: lots of the features are totally free, with some advanced features paid.

We're working on hooking up a mechanism to award promos to users, but it will take some time since it's a subscription and Google Play does not support it yet. I'll update when we've got it ready.

    Screen Reader (text-to-speech)

    Posted: 03 May 2019 09:57 AM PDT

What's the best way to utilize Google's text-to-speech engine on recent versions of Android? I'm not visually impaired, so I don't need it to read UI elements, but I'd like to use it to have articles, books, and other bodies of text from various sources. Is there a quick and easy way to trigger text-to-speech in apps?

Alternative to ES File Explorer Pro

    Posted: 02 May 2019 10:47 PM PDT

As title suggests, I'm looking for an alternative to ES File Explorer Pro as google has removed it from play store.
I don't care whether it's a paid app or not, all I want a feature rich file manager that supports SMB (I want to be able to browse my home NAS via Wi-Fi).
    Thanks for recommendations.

What's the best dictionary app out there?

    Posted: 02 May 2019 07:14 PM PDT

A better alternative to Omni Swipe?

    Posted: 03 May 2019 08:13 AM PDT

I'm on mobile and can't seem to get the app store link, it's basically an app launcher. From the app description:

Quick and convenient access to your apps, contacts, settings and notifications.

Omni Swipe allows convenient access to your favorite apps, contacts, settings, and incoming notifications using just one hand.

So it'll make little zones on the bottom left and right corner where if you swipe there, a bunch of shortcuts and apps will come up. Good for reaching your favorite apps without opening the apl drawer. It is NOT a gesture app like fluid gesture.

The app is old and seem to be slow on Pie. It has around 1 second lag before the app that I touched open.

    Events notification app

    Posted: 02 May 2019 11:14 PM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there's an app (not including Google calendar) that I can input multiple events that are occurring at the same time and can notify users. I'm asking this because Ramadan is coming up and I'd like to list all the various places throughout the province (state) hosting iftars (dinner to break the fast). I have all the data, I just want to put it all in one big thing people can access without seeing a long list.

Google Assistant acts weird on Samsung Galaxy S8?

    Posted: 03 May 2019 02:04 AM PDT

So this has been happening both before AND after the Samsung One UI update, and also before AND after a factory reset on Android 9.0. My Google Assistant has been acting weird a lot of the time, especially when it comes to reminders. If I manually type in a reminder and hit the blue checkbox, it flashes for a second, but everything else stays the same. I found out, it's saving the reminder, but I have to press the back button to get out of it anyway. And then sometimes, when I'm making a reminder with my voice, it'll get part of the details, and then suddenly go "What's the reminder?" as if it was starting all over again.

Is this something that commonly happens outside of the Pixel devices? I tried using Bixby, and it was a very unpleasant experience compared to what I used to get from Google Assistant, and I'm somewhat confused why Google Assistant is struggling to work.
