| Posted: 02 Mar 2019 10:30 AM PST Before you call me a heathen for even considering ditching Oxygen OS for MIUI, I must clarify. I plan to switch phones a bit later this year and am deciding between getting the Mi 9 or the unreleased OnePlus 7. I'm asking because so far, judging from the reports I've read, apparently the camera on the Mi 9 is just amazing, and I'm not sure if the OnePlus 7 is going to be able to beat it. Another reason is that OnePlus doesn't have any stores in my region and repairing it might end up being a pain in the ass. So I'm trying to see how I can get the best of both worlds, and if not then at least this convenient gimmick. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 02 Mar 2019 06:24 PM PST This problem is driving me nuts… I'm trying to get different notification sounds for incoming text messages and Outlook mail notifications. What I have been doing is to first go into Android Settings - > Personalize - > Notification Sound and set the sound I want (I'm choosing one of the bundled sounds.) Then, I go into Outlook settings -> Notifications -> New Mail Sound and set the sound I want for that. The Outlook setting then changes the Notification Sound I have previously set under Android Settings. Any advice? Phone is HTC 10 running stock Android 8.0.0 (Oreo). Thanks. [link] [comments]  |

| Android Spell Check Dictionary Posted: 02 Mar 2019 06:38 PM PST Sometimes when I spell a word wrong, the spell check won't have any suggestions other then adding a letter before it. For example of I spelled laminate as lamenent, I get the red line underneath. When I tap on it the suggestions are usually "u lamenent" "a lamenent" or "l lamenent" If I put the same word in Google or into the Gmail app it'll give me the correct spelling. | S9 Group Texting issues with Pie Posted: 02 Mar 2019 06:15 PM PST Recently updated to Pie with my S9. The new issues I'm running into are group messaging and I also can't send gifs. In group messages everytime I send a message my message stays at the bottom of the thread when people reply, so it gets difficult determining who responded to me. The phone also notifies me every time I send a message as if I just received a message from myself. The last issue is sending gifs. After the update I no longer have the option to send gifs, it just shows those stupid stickers nobody uses. http://imgur.com/a/iS6fcpr shows my text layout. Anybody have any thoughts or workarounds? | Seriously can't remove Google Search bar from home screen? (Android 9; Pie) Posted: 02 Mar 2019 06:45 PM PST Phone: Red Magic Mars, Global. OS: Red Magic OS 1.6 with Android Pie. I'm googling things and finding that it is impossible to remove the google search bar from your homepage?? In Oreo it takes TWO seconds to remove that thing. The only solution people have is to use a launcher, and honestly I'm not down. The OS itself is just fine for me, and that is the only thing bothering me. Pls, tell me how to remove that pesky search bar. PS: It's probably not the "Red Magic OS" interfering with it; it appears to be pretty damn stock aside from a few gaming-centered features to control shoulder buttons, overclock, and that beautiful LED strip on the back of the phone. | [SOLVED] Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 Soft Brick Posted: 02 Mar 2019 04:07 AM PST Hi all, Just wanted to share a solution to a problem that happened to me recently on my device, as future reference if someone happens to face the same problem.
Problem: as Google+ will be soon shut down, I decided to uninstall its updates and disable this system app. This unfortunately resulted in a soft brick, leaving the device stuck at boot, no luck even when trying to trigger safe mode. Luckily, SM-N9005 happens to have an unlocked bootloader from factory, so I managed to solve the issue following this procedure:
Result: the device is now up and running as nothing had happened, no data was changed apart from the custom recovery, everything is in place including apps, app data and internal storage. From now on I will be very careful in disabling system apps for sure, honestly I would have never imagined that just disabling an app would have led to a bricked device! [link] [comments]  |
