browsing phone pictures in Windows 10 Posted: 03 Mar 2019 07:48 PM PST I finally switched to Windows 10 and am having trouble browsing my Android camera pictures. On Windows 7 I could connect my android via USB and then just navigate to the DCIM\camera folder. I could then open a file (Windows insisted on using Windows Photo Viewer) and quickly scroll through my pictures using the left and right arrows. Now I navigate to the folder (see screenshot), and open a file but it opens using my default image viewer (XnView). The thing is, XnView does not open the file directly; rather, it makes a copy in a hidden temp directory. When I try to scroll through my pictures using the 'next file' arrow, it just displays the next random file from the temp directory. I believe this is related to the Media Transfer Protocol. Is there an application that can access the pictures directly like Windows Photo Viewer? Second, can I set Windows 10 to default to that viewer when opening my Android pics? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Mar 2019 07:10 PM PST I have always used a Samsung Android since I have had a smart phone (other than my windows phone). Are there any major differences between Samsung Android and say stock, Android that I wouldn't know about? For example, I know I wouldn't have samsung messager. I really don't use it anyway, so I'll live. But something like that. [link] [comments] |
Based on Samsung's history, when is the best time to buy? Posted: 03 Mar 2019 08:22 PM PST USA. Looking at an S10e for either AT&T or unlocked for Google Fi. Haven't decided which service yet. But based on Samsung's previous devices, should I pick one up now with the deals they're offering, or will there be decent discounts if I wait a few months? I have a Pixel 2 I can trade in for $300 [link] [comments] |
Advice for combining work phone and personal phone into one device.. Posted: 03 Mar 2019 06:29 PM PST I am in a fortunate position where the organization I work for will pay for a personal phone, to be used for work purposes too. After becoming frustrated with carrying around 2 phones, I have finally decided to move forward and combine my personal phone and work phone, therefore solely having one device. I have just ordered the new Samsung S10+, because, one it's new and secondly, work will pay for it. I am wondering if anybody has any tips to having a device that has access to personal and work information? My work uses Gmail, as do I and I'm aware I can switch between accounts. I will maintain my personal number and use Google Voice for work related phone calls. Do you have any other suggestions of things I should do or look into? [link] [comments] |
Is Android 9 known to affect remote control apps? (Retune in my case) Posted: 03 Mar 2019 04:39 PM PST I use Retune to control my iTunes with it and it stopped being able to connect with my library. I've gone through every solution they have on their site (including temporarily turning off the firewall) without avail. I'm wondering if it was the android update Any guidance would be appreciated. What's the fastest Android phone charger I can buy right now? Posted: 03 Mar 2019 04:36 PM PST I didn't see a post about it that was recent. I'm in the market for the fastest charger I could get. I have the Galaxy S9+ Snapdragon model if that matters, and I'm getting the S10+, most likely also Snapdragon model. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
I want to access the pictures of my old phone, but I forgot the password. Posted: 03 Mar 2019 08:50 PM PST My old phone is a Motorola Moto g 1st generation, it stopped working a few years ago and it wouldn't turn on or charge, so I tought it was dead. I'd have sold the parts, but I kept on delaying, and eventually forgot about it, today while I was cleaning stuff, I found it and decided to try to charge it, and surprisingly it worked. I want to recover the images since there are some family pictures in there, and I hadn't done the backup, but I forgot the password, and because of that I can't access them. I've used programs to restore the pictures, but it didn't worked, then I tried to remove the lock screen with other programs and still didn't worked. I've tried the following programs so far:

Help updating a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Posted: 03 Mar 2019 04:52 PM PST I'm trying to update a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5110 i bought in 2012. I've watched some videos about how to do it, but i keep getting confused, as each one shows a different process, or sometimes, i get dead download links. I would like to update this device to a higher version of Android, i don't have a specific version i want to have, just as long as it's higher than JellyBean, but i also would prefer the latest i can get without making the tablet unusable. The last update it got officially is the JellyBean 4.2.2, and since then, it hasn't gotten any official update. Some apps can't get installed and others get stuck in very old versions. Here are some of the videos i watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj-PueHtj9I This video is really confusing, and some of the links in the description are dead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27Nu1qLy9qI&t https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sni9IfNVG9U& These two videos are alright, but i don't know wich i should go with. I would also like to make a nandroid backup and have a way to restore the device if all else fails. Also, apologies if my english is not great, i'm not a native english speaker. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Mar 2019 10:16 PM PST Me and my fiancee use the same phone. It's a Umidigi One Pro and looking at her Facebook layout and mine the icons are different and the layout is different. Why is that? The lay out seems different on all devices and never looks the same on Android devices. Even on IOS. So what is this and why? [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to route phone call audio through a bluetooth device that doesn't have a mic? Posted: 03 Mar 2019 09:07 PM PST Basically I just got a new amplifier for my car that has on board bluetooth so I dont need a head unit anymore, I just connect directly to the amp and play music through it. However it doesn't have a way to connect an external mic that you typically would to a head unit. Id like to just use the mic on my phone and route the audio through the speakers. Anyone know how I might be able to achieve this? [link] [comments] |

What informaion does IMEI contain? Posted: 03 Mar 2019 11:59 AM PST Hello, I have a simple, yet complex question. What information does your phone's IMEI contain, exactly, and does it vary with different brands, models and OS? Since when can you, or the police track your lost phone through your IMEI code and what exactly does it tell you? Does the phone need to be turned on, connected to wifi, or just to your mobile service provider? What if the phone is not connected to wifi and does not have a sim card inserted? What if the phone has been logged with Google account? I have lost my phone and I would like to find out more about this issue. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

Updated Adhell 3 and now I can't get it to work again Posted: 03 Mar 2019 04:29 AM PST I had Adhell 3 running on my S9 with Pie, but then the Knox key expired. I think I could've simply updated the key, but I kinda fucked it up by using the wrong type of keys (KPE and Backwards compatible keys instead of the ELM Development key) and then thinking I had to update Adhell from 3.1.1.239 to the latest 3.1.1.269. I don't know if the ELM Dev key would've worked with my old Adhell. Anyways, I downloaded the new Adhell (3.1.1.269) and edited it with my APK Editor Pro (1.8.28). But after saving the file, I couldn't install it because of an parsing error. I figured that my APK Editor was too old to generate APKs for Pie, so I updated that too. I tried 1.9.0 and 1.9.2 but I either get the package parsing error from the installer, or the input fields to change the package name in APK Editor are disabled (faded out). At this point, I tried various different versions from Adhell and APK Editor, but I always encounter the same two problems. If I install the latest version of Adhell without modifying it, I get an error 102 when entering the ELM key, which I think means that an app package name is associated with too many keys. So I have to rename it, that's what APK Editor is for, but as mentioned before, the file either ends up unparseable or APK Editor doesn't let me change the package name. I'm relatively new to android so I think I hit a wall here. Is there another way to change the app package name? That's basically all I need I guess. tl;dr editing Adhells package name with APK Editor ends up with either an unparseable file or APK Editor doesn't let me change it in the first place; unmodified Adhell works but results in error code 102 when entering the key because of the unchanged package name. Husband's S9 will display metadata on 2015 CR-V, my S8 won't? Posted: 03 Mar 2019 04:23 PM PST My only complaint about my new-used car is it doesn't show the singer/song title on the display when connected via bluetooth to my S8. Last night I found out my husband's S9 does. Any idea why? And how to get mine to do so? As far as I can find, they use the same bluetooth version (5.0). [link] [comments] |
iPhone user moving to android and wiki missing a few answers to questions I have, please help. Posted: 03 Mar 2019 10:14 AM PST In September 2007, I bought the first iPhone. Since then, I have owned the 3GS, 4S, 5S, 6, 6S, and right now, have the X. I have an iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and a MacBook Air. I pay for Apple Music and for a lot of iCloud storage. I said all that so you can see how deep I am in the Apple ecosystem. Over the last few years, I have been disappointed in the Apple phones, but it was more of a hassle to get out than to get a different phone. The main thing stopping me was photos. As a hobby photographer, I loved that I could load photos on my phone and they would show up everywhere, but the Apple made changes and I lost that. Now I use Lightroom and it does the same. Back to my question or purpose of this post. I am blown away by the Galaxy S10 and want to move. I am trying to prep in my head and noticed a lot of my apps are backed up or saving to iCloud. Some of these apps are available for Android, but does anyone know if I'll be able to pull in my files that are saved in the iCloud in an Android device? Does android offer a file system where I can look at iCloud the same as I look at Dropbox? What work around have you used for Apple Music (besides moving to Spotify). I have a large family using the Apple Music plan and I'm not planning to ditch my iPad or computers. I am very happy with them. Thanks for any help or thoughts. Hope I am welcomed to the community. PS - am I going to miss the blue boxes? [link] [comments] |
Does the Vivo Nex Dual Display 2 work with T-Mobile LTE in the US? Posted: 03 Mar 2019 03:35 PM PST Getting conflicting answers, I found a website that mentions it has 4 out of the 6 LTE bands for t-mobile in the USA, but then found some user reviews that mention it only works on Edge. Posted: 03 Mar 2019 02:46 PM PST I just got a Glowlight for Christmas. I've bought some books from B&N on it, and uploaded some library books from Overdrive through Calibre. It's been working fine for months. Today, I uploaded a new book through Calibre, ejected the Nook, and unplugged it. When I opened the library, it only showed the books I had bought from B&N. I plugged it back in to see what was going on, and this (the D: drive) is what is showing up for the Nook in the file explorer. I tried deleting the gibberish files, and nothing happens. I'm guessing even though my computer said it was safely ejected, it wasn't, and that's somehow corrupted the drive. What should I do next? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Mar 2019 10:29 AM PST Ok so I currenly have an iPhone X, and I pre-ordered a Samsung Glaxy S10+ (very, VERY excited). I'm one of those rare hybrids who comfortably siwtches between iPhones and Androids. Anywho... I know a few of my friends who have T-Mobile use I guess what's known as "Enhanced Messaging" on their Note 8s by using the default Samsung Messenger (see who's typing and share HD videos). When they switch to Android Messages, it doesn't seem to work. Is there is a reason for this? I prefer to use Android Messages on my upcoming phone. Is this something that T-Mobile and Samsung are working on together that's not available on other texting apps? [link] [comments] |

How to pull photos off an android with a broken screen stuck on charge mode? Posted: 03 Mar 2019 12:52 PM PST I can unlock the phone but the screen is so damaged it doesnt really respond to touch. I have it plugged into my computer and I see the dialog box pop up asking me to switch from charge mode to file storage mode, but I cant touch the screen to select it. I tried a USB OTG to see if I could get a mouse to work but it doesnt seem to accept OTG. I rebooted to recovery thinking I could mount it there but theres only an option to mount system and nothing happens when I do that. [link] [comments] |
