Can I get some advice on which smartphone to buy (Galaxy S9, S9+, Note 9)?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2018 07:44 AM PDT

Hello, I would appreciate some advice on which Samsung phone to buy next. I'm coming from a 2 year old Galaxy S7 Edge, and I'm starting to have issues with battery life and my phone being generally slow at times. I deleted anything I decided I didn't need that was using memory and/or battery and it didn't really help.

I'm torn as to what phone I should get next. Here are my thoughts:

S9 - Pros: smaller handset but still a bigger screen than I have now (I have smallish hands), lower price (not my primary concern, but it's still a pro); Cons: I'm concerned about going to a smaller battery given my battery life issues with my S7 Edge, lesser features than S9+ or Note 9 (though I'm not sure how much the second rear facing camera, extra RAM, and/or storage would impact me).

S9+ - I really like the features, but the size might be unwieldy. I also don't love how oblong this phone is; yeah, the screen is technically bigger, but it's a skinny rectangle so how useful is that, really?

Note 9 - it's the best Samsung has to offer, so of course I'm intrigued. The S pen, the only reason to choose this over the S9+, feels a bit gimmicky to me and I'm not sure how much I'd use it. I'm weird and peck at my smartphone keyboard with one hand to type, so its use as a stylus may come in handy. However, I have a toddler and I worry about her getting ahold of my phone and injuring herself with the S pen (yep, I'm a worrywart).

These are all great phones and I'm definitely overthinking, but I'd appreciate advice. Thank you!

Has anyone ever had this screen show up before? It happened when the phone booted up after it had died, just curious what it is (S7 Active)

Owners of s8, note 8, and s9. Hows your battery life compared to when you first bought it?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2018 02:25 AM PDT

Just found this in announcements in galaxy apps. Anyone know what is this?

Friendly reminder to all users with a usb type c port.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 10:49 PM PDT

Don't forget to clean your usb port every now and then. Any bit of lint can ruin your port and make it harder to insert your cable in. Cover your port if you constantly have it in your pocket 👍

Time to upgrade! Galaxy S9+ vs. Note 9. Thoughts?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2018 05:16 AM PDT

My experience with the Note 9 so far.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 09:11 AM PDT

I've pretty much had every flagship since the Samsung Galaxy S2. Including a few Notes.

The first phone I fell in love with was the S2 and it was absolute magic. Note 3 was a close second. Since then I've had the S7 and S8 plus. I enjoyed them, but I didn't love them.

The Note 9 is the first device I love in a long time. It's so darn good. The S-pen is fantastic. The battery life is long. Camera is great, especially with the new update. The speakers are powerful. I compared them to my girlfriends iphone XS and they sounded tinny in comparison. And it's just so darned smooth. That's what I've been missing for a long time. Super slick, no laggy touchwiz animations.

The only drawback is the price. But like Warren Buffett said the other day "Smartphones are ridiculously underpriced considering the value and utility we get."

That really got me thinking. I'm able to conduct 50-60% of my business, entertainment and connectivity through one device. It really is worth the price tag, to me at least.

    Fast charging on note 9

    Posted: 02 Oct 2018 02:38 AM PDT

I have never used an android phone before. I've been using iPhones since 2010. So I'm new to this. I've heard that fast charge damages the battery and may cause it to drain faster. Is that true? Should I turn off fast charging? Does a standard charge last longer than a fast charge? Do you guys have fast charge enabled on the note 9?

    Android Version?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2018 08:16 AM PDT

I'm looking to buy the Samsung Galaxy J7 Neo. From the description, the phone comes with Android 7.0.

Does anyone know if the phone can be(or if there's plans to) upgrade the phone to 8.0?

And also, anyone who knows anything about it, how is it given that it's a cheaper/unlocked phone? Or if there's a similar Samsung phone for around this price (that can/will be upgraded to 8.0) people would recommend?

Note 9 : Possible to force higher ISOs in stock or other apps?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2018 05:55 AM PDT

Hi folks, I found out that the stock auto mode camera app is actually capable of taking photos past the 800 iso limit that is set in the stock pro mode camera. I believe the photo had an iso of 1200. Is there any way for us to access it? It would provide me with a little more control over lowlight shots.

    UN43J5200 1080P TV : YOUTUBE TV APP?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2018 05:53 AM PDT

My parents were looking into this TV as a basement TV since Costco is going to have it on sale in October. But, they use YouTube TV. Anyone have this and can they confirm you can download that app - and I don't mean the standard YouTube app - I mean the YouTube TV app for getting cable channels. I noticed YouTube TV is only compatible with TV's 2016 and older and this might be considered older than that since it's at Costco and not a 4K tv. Thanks !

    S9 - broken seal ?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2018 01:57 AM PDT

Hello, just received S9 in the mail and it has a broken (cut open) seal, it's been sealed over it by another localized (czech) seal, but I believe that's quite obviously not only to hide the broken one but also faked by the store. Should I send back?

(this is not a carrier phone or anything so I doubt the reason is the same as with those - to put the SIM card in)

[TV] KS8000 55" TV has this bad vertical banding. Anyone know if this is a screen replacement or some other component?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 10:22 PM PDT

Not sure if this is a screen issue or other. I get sound fine and the banding changes color as if it's working fine... Any tips would help. Will do the work myself.

    Questions about the Galaxy Watch.

    Posted: 02 Oct 2018 01:48 AM PDT

Owners and Users of the Galaxy Watch, can the fitness features of the watch be turned off to increase the battery life of the watch? For example, can the heart monitor be disabled/turned off? Thank you.

    Session expired...Processing failed?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 11:18 PM PDT

Apols if this has been asked before (I cannot believe I am the only one here).

For the last 2 days my S8 has been relentlessly messaging me that my Samsung account session has expired. Logging back in again isn't working, neither is a password change. Both come back with the message "processing failed."

Damn thing is pinging me constantly and it's driving me mental. Any ideas?

Bought a "un60ku6270f" Samsung tv from Sam's Club just under 2 years ago and now no power

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 04:22 PM PDT

I go to go turn on my TV today and nothing happens. No little red light, no flicker, nothing. It sounds like my power supply is bad and it's gonna cost me $200-300 at least to fix it. I'm debating fixing it or just using that money towards purchasing a new TV from Best Buy and getting their protection plan so if something like this happens again it will be covered.

Has anyone had this happened to them and what did you end up doing?

Samsung Tab A 8" takes FOREVER to charge

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 09:26 PM PDT

I did a factory reset and noticed there is an error. It may be this, a bad usb port, or it needs a new battery. I have tried multiple different usb cords, different amp plugs, mixed and matched all these parts and it still charges SLOWWWWW. It takes about 20+ hours to fully charge.

This is the error message I get when I do a factory reset. "E: failed to open /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/misc: No such file or directory"

I did wipe the cache partition as well as do a complete wipe and reset. Each time this error comes up.

Does anyone know what this error means in regards to the Samsung Tab A? It IS a recent problem. Maybe it's due to a recent updated to Nougat???

Samsung's customer service is a joke

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 01:36 PM PDT

My TV went out 2 weeks ago. I spoke with someone over chat and they determined that a tech would have to.come out to repair the TV. That's fine, it still has 6 months left on the warranty. The next day samsung calls me and tells me I need to try and troubleshoot the issues myself, so they dont need to have it repaired. The troubleshooting link the sent me doesnt work. I go back to chat again and they agree that a tech has to come out for a repair.

On thursday, a tech shows up and says I need a new screen and also a new power supply. He then informs me that samsung doesnt have my screen in stock and they are estimating over a week to to get it. He said that if it is going to be longer than that then samsung will probably just give me a new TV.

The following Monday I am checking the status of my ticket and it shows that on Friday it was closed. I chat with an agent and they state that it was decided I will be getting a new TV, and that someone from the exchange department will be contacting me in 3-5 days. Since I am very impatient I call in on thursday. I am transferred to the exchange department. They explain that since I uploaded my receipt from best buy that this process will be easier and quicker. They tell me that I will be getting reimbursed to best buy for what I paid. He said that it would take 5 days for me to get an email informing me of my next steps. He also said that those 5 says include weekend days, in was a little shocked but cool that's even sooner.

So here I am on Monday, since nothing ever happened with my ticket until I called in I just figured I'd call and see what's going on. I speak with someone on the phone, and they said that my ticket shows that I requested an exchange and the exchange department will contact me in 11-12 business days. I said, that's not what I was told by the exchange department and asked to be transferred to them. I am told that the exchange department does not accept phone calls and they only call customers. They then told me that I didnt speak to anyone in the exchange department and I spoke to a regular agent, and they apologized about the turn around time being wrong.

So of course, now I'm kinda angry and hang up with the tech. I go back to online chat to find a direct number to the exchange department and they tell me to call the support line, give them my ticket number and they would transfer me to the exchange department.

I waited a few hours and tried again and I ask to be transferred. I'm told they cant do that. She puts me on hold probably to see if she can transfer me and come back and says that I will hear from someone in 11-12 days.

So I'm just so pissed that no one can transfer me to this department to speak with someone about and issue that I have already discussed with them. They are just jacking me around and I have no idea what else to do. I guess the only thing I can do is wait 11-12 days for someone to contact me and start this entire process over. At this point I'm going on 2 weeks without my TV, and it's probably going to be another 3 weeks before anything gets resolved.

Samsung products are great just as long as you dont have to actually contact samsung.

[Help] I exited the memo app on my S7 before I saved an important voice memo... Is there any way to recover it?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 05:10 PM PDT

Also, is there a voice/text memo app better than the basic notes app? This isn't the first time this has happened.
