Posted: 02 Aug 2018 01:31 PM PDT data: I'm a TOTAL- GRADE-A -- NOOB...severely unsavvy with tech of anytime (living off the grid in a tent) I played music by a town-café and a girl filmed me with her iphone and sent the quicktime video (via cloud I think) to my email address... I went to a local public library and ALL restrictions are in effect on their computer ( they only give me a 1-2 hour time slot and the quicktime video wont even download&install in that amount of time so It always bails out... ALL I REALLY WANT IS TO SHARE THIS SONG I WROTE FOR A FRIEND OF MINE AND PERFORMED ON THE STREET... will you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE JUST DOWNLOAD THE QUICKTIME VID-CONVERT IT TO MAYBE A YOUTUBE EMBEDDED VIDEO OR OTHER EASILY ACCESSIBLE WEB-VID-URL-LINK FOR ME SO I CAN SHARE IT TOO MY FRIEND I KNOW IT ASKING A LOT, BUT I'LL SEND YOU PERSONALIZED ART (portrait or comic strip) IN RETURN FOR YOUR HELP HERE'S THE download prompt: [link] [comments]
Old hard drive might have failed. What can I try? Posted: 02 Aug 2018 06:47 AM PDT The hard drive storing my media in one of my PCs has been on its last legs for a while, now seemingly dead. It's only media, not important stuff, so I never backed it up. It's almost 2 TB of stuff though, so if I can reclaim it, it would save a lot of download time. Drive: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm SATA drive. Had it for a while, not sure date of manufacture, can't decipher the codes stamped on the drive. Symptoms: I've tried putting it in a different (brand new) computer, and the symptoms are the same. To me, this is either a controller issue (which might be salvageable by buying an old identical drive and replacing it), or some very fundamental sectors on the drive are busted (which would not be salvageable without a data recovery service) Has anyone got any other thoughts about any of the other possible explanations for this behaviour, or a way that I could test what the problem is? Would trying to source a replacement controller board be worthwhile? Edit: Going to bed, I'll check for replies tomorrow. [link] [comments]

Installed a new power supply, now I have to insert new boot media? Posted: 01 Aug 2018 08:03 PM PDT I have a desktop, I don't know all the specifications except: - nvidia gtx 970 graphics cards - Corsair 750w modular power supply - windows 10 This morning my computer wouldn't turn on. So I went and installed a new 750w power supply. That went well, but when I booted it said "reboot and select proper boot device Or insert boot media in selected boot device" I have no idea what this means or how to fix it. Did I break something when I put in the new power supply? Any help would be appreciated, thank you! Edit 1: going to buy a new hard drive in the morning. Windows 10 stuck in bootloop after pc froze during update. Please help me ;-; Posted: 01 Aug 2018 08:37 PM PDT So Ive been having issues with my pc and windows 10 updates for the better part of the last year. Something wrong with my old ass asus mother board not being compatible or something. I don't know specifically why. Anyway, because windows 10 forces you to update after a while I had no choice it did the thing where it prompts me every hour and I missed it to say no as I was away so the pc went and updated on its own. Thanks windows 10. The computer sat and configured the update for a few minutes, froze at 100% and stayed that way for a long time. I shut down the pc (yeah I know bad move but I honestly think it would stay frozen till the end of time if given the chance I've had updates fail on me like 3,4 times before). The pc restarted, disk checked, said it was repairing the issue, restarted and then kept restarting again and again. I've tired using a recovery environment disk that didn't work. The start up repair didn't work, disk check and fixmrb didn't work. And I can't boot into safe mode for some reason. Where the option for boot settings should be Theres an option for UEFI-BIOS settings. What do I do? I don't wanna reinstall windows again I just had to fix all my shit last month and I'm finally building a pc so I'm gonna have to do it next month. I just wanna hold out one more month ;-; If I can just get into safe mode I should be able to delete the update right? Somebody please help me I've been through this shit like 4 times I'm so done with this. I just want my pc working. [link] [comments]
Power went out, PC Won’t boot fully. Posted: 01 Aug 2018 07:33 PM PDT Like the title says, the power flickered and went out at my house and now my PC won't boot fully. It'll get through identifying all my drives and show me what it's choosing from, but after that I get a blank, screen with a blinking white type line (like a command prompt) but it doesn't let me do anything from here. I let it sit and just blink for 30-40 minutes thinking it would do something but it hasn't I'd love to tell you what specs I have, but I can't exactly access them right now. What should I do from here? [link] [comments]
Ethernet Adapter causing slow internet Posted: 01 Aug 2018 03:31 PM PDT i need help figuring out why my Ethernet adapter (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller) would be slowing down just this computers down speed. The problem shows up randomly, and doesn't always happen either. its like a dice roll when my computer boots. it'll either be slowed down, or the internet speed will be fine. If it's slow speed, the one way I've found to fix it temporarily is to disable "Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4)" and re-enable it in the adapter settings. But once i restart the problem will come back randomly. I've contacted my ISP, and they said theirs nothing wrong on their end. All other computers inside the house remain unaffected. its just my computer. The things i've done to try and fix it is by uninstalling drivers, and installing the latest ones for it. Turning the modem/router off doesn't do anything. I replaced the ethernet cord with a brand new CAT6 compared to the CAT5 i was using before, and that didn't do anything. So i'm completely stumped. Windows 10 build 17134.165 version 1803 i7-7700k 4.2ghz 16GB (2x8) corsair vengeance DDR4 EVGA GTX 1070 SC 2 2TB HDD's (non-raided) (/notfixed) [link] [comments] |
