App Volume and Device Preferences (1803) Posted: 28 Jun 2018 01:08 PM PDT This is a great feature when it works. I currently have my Google Chrome set to my TV ouput. So I can watch Netflix / Youtube on my 3rd TV Monitor and not have to change the sound output using the App Volume and Device Preferences Page. However this only works 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time it reverts back to the default (my Headphones). When I go into the settings the correct TV Output is set but it plays through the default device and ignores this completely. The workaround is to reselect the TV Output from the list and it will suddenly play through the correct device. The workaround isn't ideal as it completely defeats the point of not having to change my audio outputs every time. Is there a fix? [link] [comments] |
Stuck on login screen and can't boot in safe mode Posted: 28 Jun 2018 09:38 AM PDT Hello, my friend's PC (Windows 10) is stuck on the login screen, everytime I try to login the password doesn't appears and I go back on the first screen with the clock. I tried to boot in safe mode but : -F8 doesn't work before boot -I manage to go in the troubleshot screen by forcing shutdown while booting, then I select the menu where you can choose to boot in safe mode, it's telling me to press one of the function key to make a choice but the key doesn't respond. Like in the first case. He also can't use a recovery USB as the safe boot is enabled and there is no access to the BIOS.... Then I tried on my own PC (The first and second) and it is the exact same! I can't choose with function keys! I remember it to work before... Do you have any idea to make a way through this screen? My friend doesn't want to loost all his data. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Audio Compression/Clipping software in windows? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 12:16 PM PDT I have a cheap-o microphone (Neewer NW-700) and i'm looking at an upgrade; the Audio Technica AT2020. My question is if there is some feature in windows, or in the internet somewhere that i can run as a background process and will allow me to alter mic input to prevent voice clipping and peaking. I want nice and equally loud audio even if it picks up a louder sound. I'm not all too familiar with audio and XLR mics. Ultimately i want an equal sound being picked up, through live monitoring of software or something [link] [comments] |
Tinywall whitelist prevents all internet access (networks say 'no internet, secured') Posted: 28 Jun 2018 11:22 AM PDT Hey guys, I use Tinywall to whitelist internet access to only a couple programs (which have been added to my 'exceptions' list through a combination of autolearn mode and selecting 'whitelist by window'. However - depending on the particular network - tinywall seems to block the internet entirely (when I connect to the network, I'll get the No internet, secured message though the internet will work if I turn tinywall off and reconnect). I'm seem unable to connect to any new networks and some networks I've previously connected to don't connect. Some networks will connect when they feel like it. I'm not sure what the problem is with the way tinywall is blocking things but I can always connect after disabling it. Does anyone know what I can do, or what exceptions I can add, for Tinywall to continue to whitelist, but allow to connect to wifi networks without problems? [link] [comments] |
Surfing the registry to make my program Posted: 28 Jun 2018 07:54 PM PDT I'm making a companion app for gamers with the main goal being a smoother gaming experience (maybe a few extra frames) with some extra tricks. I want to include a function or wizard so windows will run steam big picture exclusively, no explorer or any other programs. I'm working on windows 10 and have verified the following reg keys... ensuring big picture mode is set to start at run:
ensuring that steam settings are set to run at start:
ensuring windows or user approves startup from windows settings (task manager)
can you guys help out and report back what keys I should be looking for for windows XP,7,8, and 8.1? Thanks so much! [link] [comments] |
Can't bypass password on windows 7 Posted: 28 Jun 2018 11:39 AM PDT I've tried the start up repair method, but it always shuts down after 10 minutes of "attempting repairs". [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:24 PM PDT Yeah so I had to get a logo in. Figured out the layout thing sort of and was able to get my title beside the logo correctly. I'm trying to create a checklist for a specific part of a page.. I figured out how to make a custom bullet point into a box and all was well... Except I need it to be in two columns beside each other. When I hit the column button it rearranged the entire page on me. Little questions like that? [link] [comments] |
Video Editors Won't Load. Please Help!! Posted: 28 Jun 2018 12:50 PM PDT I'm using Windows 10 with an NVIDIA card. Yesterday I tried to open Adobe Premiere Pro and the splash screen showed up, then disappeared. Even the process in the task manager disappeared after a second (Nothing tried to load on the splash screen). So I spent all day today trying different versions of Premiere to no avail. I've just downloaded Davinci Resolve in hopes of at least coloring my footage but that won't even begin to load. There must be an issue with my machine but I'm not sure where to look. I've searched all over the internet and still can't find a solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Changing CPU priority on editing programs can corrupt their output Posted: 27 Jun 2018 08:59 PM PDT I noticed that in Windows Movie Maker, MLT ShotCut, and ImBatch (batch image processing), changing the CPU priority of the program sometimes corrupts the workload, creating half-blank videos or corrupted images. Reduce resources used by Antimalware Service Executable Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:30 AM PDT Aside from disabling the scheduled tasks, is there another way to stop it from constantly hogging resources? [link] [comments] |
How to tell computer to go to sleep and/or shutdown after files are done copying/moving? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 10:16 AM PDT Sometimes copying/moving files take at least an hour, but it would be nice if there is an option for my PC to go to sleep and/or shutdown after it has finished the task. I see other topic that talk about manually putting a timer after a certain time, but I just want it for just tasks like copying/moving. I would prefer it to be in option in Windows instead of third party software, but I'm having trouble finding my answer on Google. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 04:23 PM PDT I have an old laptop that originally had windows 8.1 on it. Then I upgraded to windows 10 during the big free update period. Fast forward a year, I got a new laptop, so this old laptop has been sitting on a shelf for a year. Now, I'm building a pc. Is it possible to take the version of Windows 7 (or 10) and use the license on the pc, since I don't use the laptop anymore? The laptop says it's a digital license, so I'm not sure what my options are [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 04:19 PM PDT Is there a trustworthy site I can get the ones I'm missing from? I'm looking for config.dll, CNCS232.dll, iOSDevice.dll, libcurl.dll, and globalinterface.dll. I've tried reinstalling 64 and 86 bit versions of Visual C# and nothing's working. I'm on Windows 10. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Jun 2018 04:06 PM PDT I seek and seek online and I find nothing about how to do it, the touchpad is getting on my nerves since it is so damn sensitive; I want to be able to toggle it on and off without having to use a mouse just a keyboard shortcut; I found how to do it in ubuntu, yet it seems not to be possible on windows. Posted: 28 Jun 2018 06:22 AM PDT I'm trying to copy a file into a folder in my temp folder, and I provide administrator permission, but after doing so it says I still require permission to perform the action. I've already made myself the owner of the folder, and given my account administrator permissions, but still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Would like some help on Windows XP with possible virus Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:08 PM PDT I'm trying to back up some files for a friend and I've copied a Document folder from "Files that are stored on this computer" to a 32GB SD card. Does the SD card have the virus? How do I find a virus? They have Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 My friend told me there is a virus on it, but would like to keep the files and then wipe it clean but still have his OS intact. Not sure how to do this. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Question about splitting monitor displays. Posted: 28 Jun 2018 02:48 PM PDT What I'm trying to do is a little bit difficult to explain in words, so here's a picture in paint. https://i.imgur.com/1AlAsbN.png I want to be able to see two different things on monitor #1, but only show one of those 2 things on monitor #2 I have no idea if this is even possible, or feasible. If anyone knows how this can be done (ideally without 3rd party programs) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 02:32 PM PDT Yeah how does this work? I pay 80$ Canadian for the program now? Didn't this used to be free way back when? Lol. If I did pay for it...could I use it between my desktop and iPhone X no problem? Need to edit documents and add logos and stuff. Haven't done this in forever. Was going to teach myself with office but the tablet that runs it is too slow and crashing out. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 08:41 AM PDT Hi. I had some problems with my laptop, so I reinstalled Windows 10 as new. Before doing that I made a back up of the system image in an external HDD, so now I have a folder named "WindowsImageBackup" (over 100GB). How can I restore my system as it was before? Thanks in advance for the help. [link] [comments] |
Why is editing text boxes so slow and buggy? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 06:29 AM PDT It might not be solely windows related but most of the times I get this issue the culprit is a windows, er, window. For example when I try to insert a word from the clipboard into the 'save as' text field it more often than not either freezes until I click on something else or it inserts the string at the end instead of where it's supposed to. Is basic text parsing supposed to be this broken? [link] [comments] |
Speech recognition that works? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 05:51 AM PDT Can we please have speech recognition that works? Cortana doesn't even work as it has some kind of update bug. Google voice can't understand me when I say fern it searching for home instead(not even fur or fair), I spell it out f e r n I can see it typing f e r n but it is searching for something completely different. C'mon this is 21st century what's going on? Why the hell they push this crap on us when it doesn't work properly? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:46 AM PDT Is there any way to make Windows automatically trigger the on screen keyboard when a specific language is selected? For example, I use a english layout physical keyboard (so only latin letters) but often need to switch to russian. So is it possible to make it so Windows automatically opens up the on screen russian keyboard when I select the russian language and then close it when I switch back to english? Thanks in advance!
