Posted: 26 Apr 2018 02:06 PM PDT I don't know if this is the right subgroup to ask this question but, is DVD quality 480P? I am just figuring out how to label my folder. If anyone has any information on this matter I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Apr 2018 08:09 PM PDT This is getting annoying. I'd like to see all of the video, not 98% of it with the other 2% obscured on the bottom. Most importantly, I can't see the video's progression timer. My taskbar used to disappear when I'd full-screen a video, but doesn't anymore, so how will I make it disappear again? Have tried everything, still no luck: Black screen blinking cursor Posted: 26 Apr 2018 07:47 PM PDT My other post: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/8f6kam/asking_again_cant_seem_to_install_my_os_windows/ Put Windows 10 on USB file from Mac to upload on PC I have tried everything everyone has mentioned in my post above and still getting a black screen and blinking cursor. Dose anyone have any idea how to solve this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Apr 2018 05:22 PM PDT Remember back when programs and windows tried to make it look all 3d-ish and stuff but know its just plain and simple 2d-ish like. I miss those days... [link] [comments]

Windows 10 UI lag with 144hz monitor Posted: 26 Apr 2018 08:29 AM PDT So I've tried pretty much anything at this point, but I've ran into an issue where all UWP apps, and the start menu etc. will lag when I have my monitor with a 144hz refresh rate connected. For example, opening Edge will freeze the PC for a solid 3 seconds before it does anything, and opening the start menu often gives a stutter of 1 - 2 seconds. These times don't seem much, but this is a very high end PC that really shouldn't do this. I have 3 monitors connected, 2 of which are 60hz, the other one, the main monitor, is 144hz. If I disconnect both of the 60hz monitor, so only the 144hz monitor is connected, the lag remains. If I disconnect the 144hz monitor, the lag disappears right away. This is what I have tried, as well;
I honestly don't know what else to do at this point. Has anyone else experienced this, too? PS: Posting this in /r/windows as this seems directly related to a big in the windows ui. [link] [comments]
Upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I need to reformat. Posted: 26 Apr 2018 01:26 PM PDT Awhile back I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I am about to get a new SSD and wanted to install a fresh version of Windows 10. I have the backup install thing from the Microsoft site, that I setup via USB. My only question is — will my old Windows 7 key work on the Windows 10 installation, or was I at some point supposed to be given a new Windows 10 key in the case I needed to reinstall? Thanks! Posted: 26 Apr 2018 03:51 PM PDT I'm almost positive that I'm putting the password in right, is there anything that I can do to reset the password without having access to the BIOS? Specs: Intel i5 7600k Gigabyte z270 2 tb hard drive Nvidia GTX 1070 [link] [comments]
Can't seem to change my windows/Microsoft display name Posted: 26 Apr 2018 06:38 AM PDT Every time I sign into windows, it shows my display name and not my real name. I'd now like to remove that nickname from my account, but can find no way to do it. If I go to my account page in Settings it says Bearses But if I go to Manage Account to change it, it says Eric McFadden which is what I want. Every webpage where I can edit my name shows no instance of the Bearses nickname. The exception is on outlook.com (see images) where it says bearses, but if I click Edit Profile or View Account, it just takes me to live, where there's no trace of the nickname. I'm really stumped guys. I'd like to not change accounts because I have paid apps that I'd like to not rebuy, attached to this account. [link] [comments]
Not fullscreen when maximised window? Posted: 26 Apr 2018 03:12 PM PDT So I just build this new pc, and I've noticed that in some of the programs and just open windows I have, I see this little line, Which shows some of my desktop, even tho the windows are maximised... How do I remove that, and why is it there? [link] [comments]
Moving retail windows licence to a new computer Posted: 26 Apr 2018 12:41 AM PDT I have the retail version of Windows 8, upgraded for free to windows 10 and I'm upgrading my motherboard and CPU. I heard it is possible to transfer my license. Is it legit? Since my license is windows 8 and the free period to upgrade to windows 10 is over, will I be stuck on Windows 8.1 after the update? Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Apr 2018 05:16 AM PDT So I want to use some Windows XP Sounds, but I'm too lazy to set up a VM on my new computer. I downloaded the ISO for Windows XP, and I searched through it but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone have some sort of download for C:\Windows\Media ? When I type in things like "Windows XP Error sound download" it just comes up with a bunch of sketchy websites. [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 11:15 AM PDT I've been a Mac user for years but my parents are getting a new Windows 10 desktop and they want me to set it up so that it's dead simple for them to use. I only visit a few times a year so do you guys have any tips to just have the computer functioning as it should be with no popups or weird messages? The only two programs that they use are Chrome and Skype. Do Windows 10 computers need an antivirus program? Which one should do you recommend? And should I disable/enable any settings regarding updates, or telemetry tracking, etc... [link] [comments]

My PC takes about half an hour just to get to the shut down screen? Posted: 26 Apr 2018 02:07 AM PDT Hi there, as I've mentioned in the title, I've been running into some issues lately with my PC in which I can't seem to be able to shut it down properly. Here's a list of things that happens: -Whenever I hit shut down it would literally take around 0.5-1 hour just to get to the shut down screen and another hour to get the PC to finally shut down. -When I boot my PC back up, often times it will take about an hour to do that too. -Sometimes it will take a while before my PC recognizes the users in my PC and allow me to input the password -At times where I hit shutdown, it really doesnt do anything after that, the PC just keeps running, so I assume it just didn't work, then when I continue to use my PC it would just randomly shut down about an hour later, cutting whatever I'm working on. This has once frustrated me to the point where I held the power button just so it would force shut down so I could turn it back on again to what I was working on. When I got back it back on after I forced it off, it immediately resumed the shutdown sequence around 3 minutes later after I login. I don't remember doing anything in particular that might've triggered this. [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 05:40 AM PDT I own an ASUS E200HA running Windows 8.1 Pro. The sound icon is there, it looks like it would work, but there is no sound. I already try reinstalling the drivers, download different ones, went to gpedit and restarted Windows Audio, but I can't manage to let it work again. Can anyone help me? Here's a picture. Posted: 25 Apr 2018 11:19 PM PDT First timer in this sub so sorry if I'm not posting right. This was a hard question for me to google as well, so maybe I'm not phrasing it right. In the This PC folder in explorer Windows shows that my D drive only has 10/900GB free. However clicking into the drive, showing hidden folders, and selecting/viewing the size of all folders and files in the drive shows I'm only using 200GB. This is a folder I use for C drive backup (only keeps the latest backup image) and I'm struggling to account for an apparent 690GB of use. Any ideas before I copy the files off and reformat? more info: The D drive is what I'm having trouble with. A few weeks back I manually adjusted virtual memory paging file size for my C and E drives (16GB allocated each) and for the problematic D drive I selected No paging file. Not sure if that has anything to do with this. C drive is 256GB SSD and E drive is 4TB hard drive. [link] [comments]
