First real smartphone, what do I need to get? Android Apps

First real smartphone, what do I need to get?

    Posted: 26 May 2022 07:00 PM PDT

I've been using a very old smartphone alongside a laptop for my needs when not at my pc but both were really showing their age so I bought a Samsung Galaxy A52s and don't really know where to start.

It looks like a few of the Samsung apps have a bad rating and the Terms of Service for Samsung Pay are all in Chinese.

At the moment I have Keepass2Android, Discord, Google Authenticator, Spotify

I'm after apps for quality of life and others that are useful to have but I don't really know what sort of thing I should be looking for.

    Habit tracking app with counters

    Posted: 27 May 2022 12:51 AM PDT

Every Habit tracking app I've tried so far works like this in a way:

    1. Set a bad/good target
    2. Have you succeeded that target for today?

I have an itch in my throat, been to the doctor and hospital with it, nothing conclusive. They say: you should try to not clear your throat as often or cough as often. I don't know if I'm doing it as often as they think I do, so I want proof.

What I'd like is a habit tracker that works with counters, to figure out how often you do something, and at what times. I was wondering if somebody knows an app like this so I don't have to make it myself.

Journal app with its own cloud storage

    Posted: 27 May 2022 02:14 AM PDT

Is there any journal app with its own cloud storage that doesn't consume my Google drive or Dropbox storage?

Alternatively any cloud storage where caption or text can be added against photos with a calendar view

App to learn how to draw

    Posted: 26 May 2022 07:37 PM PDT

I'm looking for an app that helps teach how to draw, but let's me draw on the device. I have a Tab S7+ so I can draw on the screen with the S pen and would rather do that than waste paper trying to learn and be able to do it from anywhere with just my tablet and not need a pencil and paper.

I've downloaded a few apps but all of them just show the steps to draw it on paper unfortunately.

    Looking for a note app

    Posted: 27 May 2022 01:47 AM PDT

I usually scan notes I write with Google Lens or the like, but it's hard to organise them. Is there any solution which'll let me sort and categorise my notes? Clarification: I don't want to make notes, I write them on paper and then snap pictures

    captions for mms audio clips

    Posted: 26 May 2022 07:02 PM PDT

Since the official accessibility captions feature isnt used by any software ever (especially my sms app or any ive tried)

I am looking for a way to easily transcribe mms audio clips to text. For "those people" that take the effort to text you, just to send 4 friggin audio clips.

JamesDSP not working on headset/USB audio?

    Posted: 26 May 2022 06:13 PM PDT

I've been using JamesDSP on A12 and recently it stopped working on headset (and USB audio) and only works on Bluetooth (don't care about phone speaker). I installed Wavelet to see if it'd be different but the same problem occurs.

Am rooted with Magisk and have Audio Library Mod installed, haven't tried fiddling with Viper since the upgrade to LineageOS 19.

    Anyone know what's going on?
