Need a laptop for computer science Posted: 04 Apr 2022 08:20 AM PDT Want to go with a laptop for computer science but also might game a little. Was wondering if I should just go with a mac and not game until I get back to my dorm. Or just get a computer to do both. Hoping for a good battery so. [link] [comments] |

I need a laptop for graphic design Posted: 04 Apr 2022 07:33 AM PDT Hi, I need a laptop around 900$ for graphic design. I often use apps such as Blender, After Effect, Clip Studio and Photoshop. I prefer it has 100% srbg screen, no touch screen and not heavy. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2022 07:30 AM PDT I have on order the laptop below which I got on sale for $1,349 which seems like a decent deal However, I'm aware the Gen 7 is releasing with the 12th Gen Intel processors. But their current available model is only 8GB of RAM. I certainly don't need a 4K screen on the Gen 6 model, but was really hoping to upgrade from my current laptop to 16gb of RAM. I only do basic browsing, streaming and some heavy Excel work, so I'm not a gamer. What would be the better play here? Newer model, FHD, 12th gen Intel with 8GB of RAM? Or Older model, 4K, 11th gen Intel with 16gb of RAM? Both have soldered RAM so they aren't upgradeable. Lenovo is saying no sooner than the end of May would the Gen 7 16GB models be available and I need a new laptop well before then (also have a feeling the 16GB model will be over budget anyhow). Edit: I found coupons to get the Gen 7 for $1,179 [link] [comments] |
2-in-1 laptop stuck between choices for college Posted: 03 Apr 2022 11:51 PM PDT LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: 1100 USD Are you open to refurbs/used? NO How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? 2-in-1 solid performance and build quality. Engineering programs, but mostly reports and note taking If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Currently deciding between 2 options right now. This Samsung Book 2 Pro 360 that can be obtained $1,185 after student discount. Or This Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED for $1064 Would prefer the Zenbook because of the screen/price but is the 12th gen intel chip on the Samsung better?? [link] [comments] |
Quiet performance gaming laptop, top of the line Posted: 04 Apr 2022 07:14 AM PDT Hi! I am looking for a top of the line gaming laptop, to use for both gaming and office work. Budget is not a problem. I would like to be able to game without lag with low noise, but also to crank it to full settings, with noise.

Would these laptops be good for casual minecraft and high school work? Posted: 04 Apr 2022 06:54 AM PDT I'm looking to get my sister a laptop since she's in high school. I was thinking of getting her one of these two. She let me know that she wants to be able to play minecraft on her laptop, but I don't know anything about gaming so I have no idea how these would hold up. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Asus Tuf 2021 vs Lenovo 5 2021 durability and quality Posted: 04 Apr 2022 06:41 AM PDT Good day. I intend to buy a new laptop. Between Legion 5 and Asus Tuf series, which one is renowned for better hardware durability?? Gaming is not my main point of interest (I might play games once in a while though). I want the laptop mainly for programming and basic Photoshopping. My main concern is the durability of hardware as I would like to use the laptop for 4+ years. Also, I should point that official aftersale consumer service/repairing is not an option in my country, that is why I am concerned with hardware durability. I simply don't want the hardware to die on me after 6 - 12 months. Any advice is appreciated [link] [comments] |
Laptop for nursing student [~500€] Posted: 04 Apr 2022 05:56 AM PDT * Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Around 500€ and Spain. * Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes. * How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Battery Life: Enough for >5h/day Performance: Enough to run smoothly 2-1 is a plus but I don't think I need it (also it makes the laptop way more expensive). * How important is weight and thinness to you? Important since I will have to carry it with me to the university and it is a 1 hour trip. * Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A * Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. No. * If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? No. * Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? At least 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM is a must. Touch-screen is a plus but not must. It's gonna be used for taking notes and maybe using Office or "nursing" software which I don't think will be too harsh on the hardware. * Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I am trying to find a laptop that I can use for my future degree in nursing that I will start in September. I am having trouble finding a laptop that can guarantee me enough battery (~5h of normal use), low weight (so it is not a torture to carry it to college) and performance (enough that everything goes smoothly) without costing me about 1,000 €. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |

Win replacement for MacBook Pro 15, architect Posted: 04 Apr 2022 05:12 AM PDT Hello, I am currently running CTO MacBook Pro 2018 15", but I am looking for replacement. Due to necessity of using Windows programs on weekly basis (architecture renders, virtualisation is not good enough) new MacBooks with apple silicon are out of question. So maybe Dell Xps 9520? What are other alternatives, maybe with better GPU (My only worry is 3050ti not being suitable for me. Currently I have Vega 20 and it is so-so). I want good battery life, build quality, performance, and other things like speakers, screen, touchpad, to be somewhat on part with my current MacBook. Basically ultimate Windows machine for my needs. Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Max 2500€ Are you open to refurbs/used? No How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Portability is important, but I need power How important is weight and thinness to you? Important Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15" Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Adobe creative suite, archicad, autocad, vray, enscape, twinmotion. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? No Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good touchpad Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Thanks for suggestions :) [link] [comments] |
Suggest a professional looking laptop Posted: 04 Apr 2022 04:32 AM PDT I'm searching for a professional looking laptop that I need mainly for deep learning and a bit of casual gaming (eSports type). So I'm fine with a medium spec cpu but it should have a good GPU (>= 6gb vram), preferably NVIDIA. Though I'm open to Radeon if the difference is significant in terms of vram or performance given a similar price range. I'd prefer if the laptop does not scream 'Gamer'. A good screen (considering that I come from a laptop with a tn panel with 45% NTSC or something), not so heavy and good battery life is also desirable. The laptops that I found suitable for me include Zephyrus and Legion ones, but found the cpus to be overkill. If there are some suggestions, do let me know.

Help me choose the right option Posted: 04 Apr 2022 02:17 AM PDT Hey guys! I am a student looking for portable laptop(under 2.1kg), I also game at side occasionally thus some future-proof specs are needed. Build quality, web-cam and non-screaming design are a must. For now I have found those laptops available here in Italy (fortunately I am able to pay up to 1.900€): -Dell Inspiron 16 Plus for 1.570€ (i7-11800H, rtx 3060 6gb, 32gb RAM, 1tb SSD, IPS 3k 3072x1920 non-touch 300nits); -HP Envy 15 for 1.890€ (i7-11800H, rtx 3060 max-q 6gb, 32gb RAM, 1tb SSD, OLED 4k uhd 3840x2160 multitouch 400nits); -Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 2 for 1.560€ (Ryzen 7 5800H, rtx 3060 6gb, 16gb RAM, 512gb SSD, IPS 2.5k 2560x1600 non-touch 400nits); -Asus ZenBook Pro 15 for 1.600€ (Ryzen 9 5900HX Mobile, rtx 3050ti 4gb, 16gb RAM, 1tb SSD, OLED 1920x1080 touch 400nits); Heard about some touchpad issues on Inspiron lineup, and below average heating on Inspirons and Envys. Lenovo seems to be the optimal pick with its overall performance and 1080p web-cam, just temporary swings with those sales on 32gb RAM Dells and HPs. What would you suggest? [link] [comments] |
