Cheap/Decent microphone suggestion for discord & gaming? Posted: 07 Mar 2022 03:09 PM PST Finished my build recently. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yyLycb I still need new cpu-cooler/keyboard/mouse but it's more than enough for now. I don't like using headphones unless I'm playing fps or talking a lot with friends. Can you suggest a decent microphone that's good enough for discord / in-game voice chats to use when I'm on speakers (95% of the time)? I'm not really on a budget but I don't really care for the audio quality as long as people on the other side can decently understand what I'm saying so no need to overkill. Thanks for the help. Edit: looks like I'll be going with MAONO AU-PM461TR. I think I liked the Fifine K669Bs better (for no real reason at all) but even though they have a similar MSRP, there is a 50% price difference for me so I'm going with the cheaper option. Thanks everyone for the help, I'll add a quick summary of the stuff I learned in the last day for the people who come to this page by googling "cheap gaming microphone reddit" in the next months and years (at least that's how I buy my stuff). Don't take my word for the stuff below, I learned all of it in the last 24 hours. There are lots of great suggestions below, go check them out. People seem to especially like Fifine & Blue Snowball. There are 2 decisions you need to make 1) USB vs XLR: if you are googling for cheap mics I don't think you need to know what is XLR, at least I didn't bother. They look more complex, ugly, and expensive. Probably sounds better I don't really care for the sound quality as long as it is good enough. USB is good enough. Buy USB. 2) Dynamic vs Condenser Dynamic pros: Background noise canceling so no keyboard noise for your discord friends to hate you Dynamic cons: You have to put it next to your mouth so will probably need a mic arm or something Condenser pros: Higher range, you can put it on your desk and lay back, it will be fine Condenser cons: Background noise, although some people claim you can reduce it with software? Idk. I chose condenser because I'd rather use push-to-talk than not be able to lay back. Maybe the pros and cons are exaggerated, no idea. Still didn't buy my mic. Also apparently you should use some software to get better results. Check this comment. https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/t92b46/cheapdecent_microphone_suggestion_for_discord/hztfa2r/ Side note: Turns out what people find cheap really is a matter of perspective, changes especially from country to country. I created this post hoping to find something that sounds shitty but good enough with a few years of a lifetime for 10 dollars. Most suggestions were at about 40 dollars, with one at around a thousand so... Again, thanks everyone for the help. [link] [comments]
My PC became super slow and I'm running out of ideas. Posted: 07 Mar 2022 04:22 PM PST PC Specs:
Hello there, today out of nowhere my PC Became extremely slow, to the point it took me about 5 minutes to open the settings menu. There's constant freezes and for a time the screen even became black for a few minutes (tho i could still see the mouse). I tried using a different SSD (a new cheap Chinese one I had laying around just in case), and while it works waaaay better than with the old SSD, there's still several freezes and it's basically impossible to play any kind of game (Tried playing Elden Ring, but when I loaded my save game my PC got stuck at the loading screen with 1 fps). Stuff I tried doing * Starting on safe mode (pretty much worked perfectly)
*Used HWInfo to check temperatures (Again, all normal) *Installed all drivers that could be updated. Almost all of my parts are brand new, the only thing I got used was the 1060, this is my second month with this PC and until now it pretty much worked perfectly, with temps around 50-60 in heavy load. I honestly don't know what to do. I'm hoping this is not a GPU problem because I got a F Intel model and I don't have another GPU to use in the meantime... Any help is appreciated! EDIT: I was doing another clean install of Windows (this time I fully take out the old SSD) and in the middle of the installation the screen went to black except for a line that had different colors... So I'm guessing this is GPU thing... [link] [comments]

is it worth waiting for ddr5 to become mainstream? Posted: 07 Mar 2022 08:42 PM PST I want to build a pc soon but can wait for a year or two until I build it. is it worth it to wait for ddr5 ram to become more mainstream and for prices to drop or should I just build a system with ddr4? Posted: 08 Mar 2022 05:03 AM PST Hi all. I'm finally building a (first) gaming rig. The ultimate budget isn't really an issue (lockdown was good for savings), but for now I'm going to buy a 6500xt (£199) to hold me over until the Intel Alchemist launch (or maybe the new AMD/Nvidia at the end of the year); I'm simply not willing to buy a 3080 (or any other card above msrp, really) at current prices when new launches are in sight. That being said, I'd appreciate thoughts on the current build:
My thinking is that it's worth saving £100 to downgrade from an i5 12600k to a 12400 as I don't really intend to overclock and this will be mostly a gaming/general use PC. No editing/streaming. I've also decided that it's better to get a good quality b660 than a low quality z690 as I don't need its CPU overlocking ability. I could go for CL16 RAM, but for an extra £18 it doesn't seem worth it. I'm uncertain about upgrading to an RM850X; it would cost £22 more, which I don't think is worth spending on the Japanese capacitors alone. Yes I know the 6500xt is dogshit. I'll probably get a noctua fan if the noise is an issue. we'll see. Please let me know if you have any differences of opinion; this is my first build, so I'm not that knowledgeable. is $650 for a 3060ti worth it? Posted: 07 Mar 2022 01:52 PM PST As far as I can tell its only $20 above retail with tax, but I don't know if BestBuy prices are higher due to the market right now. Its a GeForce 3060ti gaming OC Pro 8gb. it would be locally though marketplace. I don't know what fair prices for cards even is in this market, and if its worth it to just wait. my desktop is being bottlenecked by a 750ti, and I have a laptop with a 1060 that I use for somewhat more demanding games. I recently bought a 1440p monitor which crushes both of those graphics cards, but if the price isn't great I'm willing to wait. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Mar 2022 06:19 AM PST Price does not matter at all (I already have both cards and want to decide which to keep using). ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti ROG STRIX GAMING OC V2 LHR (what does the V2 LHR mean btw.?) ASUS GeForce RTX 2080 ROG STRIX GAMING OC It's the standard 2080, not "super". They seem to be quite similar... is the 2080 better in some aspects, or is the 3060 ti straight up the better choice? Mainly because it is much newer, or why? Posted: 08 Mar 2022 07:03 AM PST I've currently got an RX 480 8GB paired with a Ryzen 2700X. I'm considering upgrading and putting my RX 480 into my living room PC for lighter gaming. Would it be worth $300 for the RX 6500 XT, or should I try to wait it out in hopes of a price drop in better cards, as my system still works well for the 1080 gaming I'm doing? Posted: 08 Mar 2022 06:40 AM PST I was recently recommended this build as starting PC. Is it any good. Also I eventually plan to get a VR. Could an i3 intel cpu handle that? What GPU would you recomend? [link] [comments]
Can someone look over my first build? Particularly the mobo and cpu Posted: 08 Mar 2022 06:39 AM PST Right now I have someone's old project pc that I threw a 2060 in. It's got an old i5-4690k and the mobo is shitting the bed. Can't even get it to BIOS, but it does operate. Mild gaming has it overheating I believe as well. I hate the case and psu... I was debating buying a pre-built (I've never built from scratch, but I've replaced gpus, ram, and cpu cooler. Most things except hooking up the case to the mobo and hooking up a PSU) and selling the 2060, but decided I'd rather spend the same amount for something that I'll be happier with, and hopefully with less worries of it shitting the bed in a month and having to deal with warranties with several people. I have a HDD as well, so I only got the one m.2 I would definitely prefer to have Wi-Fi... I'll be moving in a few months and don't know if I can route an ethernet cable. I'm imagining having the wifi mobo is a better move than buying a USB adapter or some shit? The things I know the least about are cpus and mobos. Not sure what I want in those spots, tbh. The ones I've selected I believe should be better than the 10400f and 11400f I was seeing in the prebuilts... But idk. Any and all help/insight is greatly appreciated. Edit just found the reddit share thing

Good PC builds for flight simulators? Posted: 08 Mar 2022 06:30 AM PST My dad has said he wished he had a PC so he could play flight simulators on, and I think I want to repay him for buying me my first gaming PC almost 6-ish years ago now, along with other various expensive things he's bought me over the years. But, as I've only just built my first PC myself, I'm still a noob when it comes to identifying parts, so I need help. I want something that can play flight simulators with great performance, while not being too overpowered that I'm just wasting money on expensive parts I don't need. I don't have a specific budget, I can save up to pretty much anything if I want, but in the interest of making the build easier, I'll set it to roughly $2k. How to remove Power limits in MSI MAG B660 Mortar WiFi D4? Posted: 08 Mar 2022 06:27 AM PST Hello, I just upgraded from an 8400 + B360 to 12400 + B660. I figured that in Hardware Unboxed's 12400 review, he was able to squeeze out a bit more performance from the CPU by removing the Power limits. How to do this? Does my motherboard support this feature? Thanks. [link] [comments]

Building a PC tomorrow and worried about how to get all my fans connected Posted: 07 Mar 2022 10:49 PM PST Hey guys! I'm building my PC tomorrow, and I was a little concerned / confused about how to connect all my fans to the motherboard. I'm using the P500A DRGB, which has 3 fans pre-installed at the front of the case, and I'll be adding 1 140mm fan at the back, and replacing the fans on my AIO (Corsair H150i Elite LCD) with matching Phanteks fans (120mm x 3). I've heard of daisy chaining, but I've never done it before, and wiring has always been the most difficult part of any PC build for me. I know the AIO comes with the Corsair Commander Core that I'm supposed to use for the fans that originally come with the AIO, but I'm unsure of how or if it'll work with the Phanteks ones. The motherboard I'll be using is the Asus ROG Strix Z690-E Every single fan (7 total) I mentioned has RGB, and I'd like to get them synced together as well, if possible. If someone could ELI5 exactly how I'd go about connecting them, it would save me a lot of trouble and anxiety. Thanks so much! (The exact model of the Phanteks fans are the PH-F120SK_DRGB_PWM) -------------------‐----- EDIT: So, I took a bit of a closer look at the Commander Core and from my understanding, it looks like I can use it to at least power the fans, but not control / sync the RGB. Please let me know if this is incorrect, but are the RGB cables the ones that can be daisy chained? If so, I'm thinking I can use the Commander Core to power all the fans, and daisy chain as many of the RGB cables as I can and hopefully only have to use one or two RGB headers on my MB. I hope this all made sense. It's 2 am here, and I'm very anxious as I am with any PC build, but this one in particular because of the parts I'm using. Thank you guys again, and I appreciate any and all info / advice y'all have to give!! [link] [comments]
VGA light on but MB and GPU tested together Posted: 08 Mar 2022 05:55 AM PST Specs: Ryzen 7 5800x Aorus B550 pro AC Aorus 6800xt master 32GB Corsair vengeance pro 2 x 16 Corsair RM850x 1 tb WD M.2 SSD 2tb seagate barracuda harddrive My VGA light is on the motherboard, I know that both parts work fine as I RMA'd my motherboard along with my GPU as the system will not post (it still won't) Gigabyte tested the board and the GPU together and it worked fine, thru sent me a video of it posting and some test results. However, I have reassembled my PC and as stated it still will not post, I am thinking CPU or PSU, but this doesn't explain the VGA light that is on. Posted: 07 Mar 2022 11:20 AM PST CPU: i3 12100F - $110 Motherboard: ASRock H610M-HVS - $70 RAM: T-Force Vulcan TUF Gaming Alliance DDR4 16GB(2 x 8GB) 3200mhz - $59 Storage: PNY 500GB SATA SSD - $48 GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3050 Gaming OC - $306 I put the most effort into getting the GPU. I refreshed Best Buy daily for about 2-3 weeks until I found an "Open Box" card for sale. It was still brand new, but the shrink wrap had been opened. I imagine this isn't the norm, but it was possible! Everything else was just B&H Photo Video or NewEgg. Stock cooler's fine for my purposes! Current PSU and Case were gifted by a family member, but browsing Craigslist and eBay, it seems very possible to find something at a reasonable price. I'm also using an old 60hz 1080p TV as a monitor. I'll be upgrading all this stuff over time, and it's not a pretty case, so no pic unless you really wanna see it! My mobo seems small enough to fit in an ITX Case (it's 7.8" by 7.4") so I'm gonna aim for a small form factor (relative to the 288mm GPU). So far, everything's running great and I'm super happy with my purchase ☺️ I'm fortunate enough to have younger siblings to hand parts off to if I ever want to upgrade. Posted: 08 Mar 2022 05:28 AM PST So I've decided to move my RTX 3070, i7 10700 and 16gb ram from my prebuilt pc, to my own custom build. I've only had the pc for a year so I'm not very confident when it comes to picking out parts, but here's what I've found so far. Would love for anyone here to give me feedback and maybe recommend some other parts that would work better, for the price range I've chosen. Here's what I've found: Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini PSU: Seasonic Focus GX, 850W Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z590-P hovedkort or Asus TUF Gaming Z490-Plus WiFi Case fans: Cooler Master SickleFlow 140 ARGB CPU fan: Fan that came with the build (Any suggestions are gladly taken) CPU: i7 10700 GPU: RTX 3070 16GB Ram Thanks:) [link] [comments]
