Any alternatives to AutoHz to force apps to run at 120Hz? (No root) Posted: 07 Mar 2022 10:45 AM PST My phone (S20 FE 5G) has a 120 Hz display but google maps always runs at 60Hz causing stuttering and lagging. I can't use AutoHz to force it to run at native refresh rate because AutoHz doesn't work on Android 12 yet. Is there any other way to do this without rooting my phone? [link] [comments] |
I wrote an application for cyclists Posted: 07 Mar 2022 09:00 AM PST Here's a short story about how I decided to write an application for finding cyclists around me and joint rides. It all started two years ago when I bought my first road bike. Over this time, I was just riding around the city alone, but for sure it was much more interesting to ride when I ran into other cyclists or met and joined groups of cyclists. Unfortunately, these spontaneously gathered groups of cyclists usually broke up at the road forks. Of course, we tried to exchange our contacts to ride together again, but each time it was hard to meet for a trip. There were many various reasons such as different schedules or riding habits, and after each unsuccessful attempt to meet for a ride, nobody initiated a joint ride again after some time. Therefore, after all these cases, I decided to look for an application where I could find like-minded people to have a pleasant time riding together. Everybody knows the Strava app. Unfortunately, there you can't write to a person, it's more like Instagram, where you can just share your achievements and workouts. And, I decided to write my own application. To begin with, I highlighted the main features for the initial version. You can create events, join them, chat with other event participants. All these features will be available for registered users. Still, you can try this app as a guest with the limited functionality to provide security to cyclists. Six months later, the first version is ready. I will not describe the details of creation in this article. Below you can see screenshots of the application. As well as a link to the application itself in the comments. The app is currently available only for Android devices. If you have any ideas and suggestions, feel free to share them in the comments =) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Mar 2022 09:40 AM PST Does anybody know why the Snapchat APP not the snaps the actual app keeps randomly opening on my phone? Not sure if this is a Snapchat problem, Google problem or Android problem. I would like to delete the app but I have people that only communicate through there. [link] [comments] |
I need a way to automatically clear an apps stored cache in the background without prompts Posted: 07 Mar 2022 07:02 AM PST Basically title, I need to find a way to have the cache of an app cleared every week or so automatically in the background without a prompt asking if it's okay to clear the cache and without rooting the device. I tried SD maid but it didn't work for exactly what I wanted and interacted poorly with an MDM I'm using. I am trying out Automate by llamalabs but it's a bit slower going since I have to write it all myself and I was wondering if anyone has found something similar to what I'm looking for. Live-streaming app using HDMI? Posted: 07 Mar 2022 09:13 AM PST I'm doing a livestream event with several android phones connected to an HDMI video switcher (to get multiple perspectives/angles/etc.) Is there a reliable app that will let me turn on the camera and get a direct output from the USB-C ports into HDMI? I have USB C to HDMI adapters, but go no signal when connected with the camera on. Also: I'm aware that there is an HDMI alt mode; does it just turn on automatically or does it need to be turned on in the system settings somewhere? Phones are all various Samsung Galaxy models. How do I stop secondary users from running in the Background on android? Posted: 07 Mar 2022 01:58 PM PST how would i stop secondary users from running in the background on android. This would be to avoid gps tracking from the secondary user, stop internet connectivity while not in use, also to just save recources. [link] [comments] |
Correctly identifying network data volume Posted: 07 Mar 2022 01:33 PM PST I'm struggling to get my head around this: I've got a tablet and a phone, each has a different network data utility on. I assumed that each app would tell me the amount of network data traffic flowing through my router. However, each app seems to show data flowing 'to that specific device'. So not through the network as a whole. The reason I'm doing this btw is so I can drop my broadband provider and tether the two devices to a network that I create on my phone (a hotspot) - so both use my data. To do this I need accurate data so I don't go over my allowance for the month. Hope this has made sense. Am I misunderstanding this entirely? Can someone please help me understand this better? Is this the best way to achieve this? Thanks. Edit: grammar [link] [comments] |
Which service should I choose for consistency? Posted: 07 Mar 2022 07:13 AM PST I remember YTM getting a lot of flak when it first came out because it was replacing Google Play Music. I never used Play Music, so I'm not in that camp. I have, however, been using Spotify for about six years now, and it just keeps consistently getting worse. The user interface keeps getting "sleeker" but hides buttons in hard to reach places, like the sort button. Sometimes, if I have just a tiny bit of service, but not enough to truly connect, it just won't play my music at all. I'm talking about my downloaded music here. And for the past few weeks, as I've been skiing, hiking, and other things, I don't have any service, and all my downloaded stuff is greyed out. I switch to offline mode, and I still can't play any of my downloaded stuff. I don't use Spotify for social features. I don't use any of the radio stuff, the daily mix, none of that. My wife and I have used the couples playlist maybe 2-3 times ever. I just want something I can download music to and reliably play it. That's pretty much all I use a streaming service for. I would have already just switched to try it out myself, but I have several playlists with nearly 2,000 songs in them, and transferring them to YTM wouldn't be free. YTM would also increase my wife and my cost from $14 a month (Spotify is raising their Duo plan price) to $18 a month. Is it worth the effort to make the switch? I just want some fucking consistency in being able to use the services I pay for. [link] [comments] |
Minimal text note-taking app with dates to each note Posted: 07 Mar 2022 06:08 AM PST I'm looking for a minimal text note-taking app that allows me to assign a date to each note. There are plenty of note apps that store the creation date of a note but problem is that is not editabile. Often I write notes refering to a past date and I want to assign the exact date to the note. New drum pad synthesizer app: drumbox Posted: 07 Mar 2022 05:52 AM PST Hey everybody, I've created my first music creation app called drumbox. It's a drum pad + sequencer app with a twist; it doesn't use samples or loops but unique synthesized sounds that you can fully tweak and customize. The sounds can range from analogue drum machine sounds to weird and digital glitchy effects (check out the built-in presets for that). Unlike other drum pad apps there are no ads. You can get drumbox pro to unlock more features: saving and managing your presets, longer sequences and midi integration with hardware and other apps. As much as I hope you'll go pro 😇, without it you can still have a lot of fun I think, and all of your changes will be saved so that you can continue jamming next time you open the app. You can find it on the play store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.littlerobots.drummer There are a couple of demos on https://drumbox.app too. I have some plans for future updates but I'd also love to hear any feedback and ideas y'all might have. [link] [comments] |
I need an ad free subscription-less PDF reader Posted: 07 Mar 2022 05:37 AM PST Please, Every single pdf reader I've found is either filled to the brim with adds or asks for a very expansive subscription. Please, I really need one. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Mar 2022 05:05 AM PST Let me explain... I have a bunch of apps running in the background that I can see by going to settings > developer options > running services. I want some of them to not run in the background. Now it's not that I don't need these apps to run in the background. It's just that I would like to stop them from doing so whenever I don't need them to. And the times I don't need them to are when I need my phone to perform better because some of these apps use up A LOT of memory. They are social media and messaging apps mostly. So I realize I might not be getting notifications when they are not running in the background (or can I?). I'm thinking something like a widget, perhaps, that I can put on the home screen (or have float 😍) that is like an on/off button that if I turned on would kill these pre-selected apps from the background and prevent them from coming back on. And if I pressed off, it would allow them to function as normal. Alternatively, an app that would freeze selected apps but - unlike Link2SD - would allow the app to function normally when I open it. So kinda like force stopping the app through settings > apps. I would like this app that could do that to be lite and not hog my memory itself. Any ideas? Android 7 | Rooted EDIT: I'm not feeling Greenify. Just installed it and I tried to 'hibernate(?)' an app and it tells me this. Like of course I'll say cancel. Lose data??? 🙄 [link] [comments] |
