Do you wish you could go back to some better version of an app you used to like?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 11:44 AM PST

All you have to do to get an older version ofan app installed uf your phone lets you run it. I got Fleksy 9.7.7 and it runs without auto correct always being on when I turn it off. Fleksy keyboard is now back to being how I like it and with the older version it's still my favorite keyboard, I just don't allow full access or permissions.

Looking for an app to duplicate files

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 02:34 PM PST

I know this seems like a very lazy question, but is there an app that will automatically save a copy of a file to a second memory location? For example, if I save a file to my internal memory have it then save to a folder on my micro SD card. I know I can do this manually, but I figured there might be a way for me to do this as it happens as opposed to stopping what I am doing and then resaving it.

    Thanks

Alarm Clock Malfunction on 2 Separate Devices?!

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 08:13 AM PST

The strangest thing happened to me today.... I woke up over an hour late to work with absolutely ZERO indication that my alarms went off. I probably just over slept right? Well get this...

Every day I set 1 alarm on my Lenovo Google Smart Display beside my bed, then also for good measure (in case of power outages) I also set an alarm on my phone. But not just 1, but 3 alarms 5 minutes apart on my phone.

Except today I still wake up over an hour late for work, with no indication of a power outage on any of my clocks, and no notification for a missed alarm on my phone.

I have over slept an alarm before and usually have a vague memory of turning it off and there was at least a phone notification it was missed. On Android if you do not answer an alarm on your phone for certain amount of time, then it will have a notification that it was missed on your phone.

Even under all those circumstances I would still think maybe I some how was in a super deep sleep and some how missed them all, and some how there's just no notification. Just a strange coincidence. However even my girlfriend sleeping right beside me never heard them go off either!! She sleeps lighter than me, so I know for sure definitely 1 of us would have woke up.

So HOW in the world did 2 completely separate devices have alarms never go off?!?! The only things I can think of is since both devices use Android some how there was a system wide failure this morning, or we were abducted by Aliens, or in a crazy time warp.

Like seriously that's all I got lol. Any other ideas? Has any one else experienced this when have an alarm on 2 separate devices?

[DEV] Decolist - a simple Shopping List & To Do app with Live Sync and Reminders

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 07:44 AM PST

Tired of forgetting what you need to do/buy? Wait no more! With Decolist, you can quickly create multiple to do/shopping lists to keep track of your tasks.

Why should you use Decolist? Here are a few reasons:

There are so many list apps that have lots of options everywhere and you need to spend a few minutes (or even more) to understand how they work. That's not the case with Decolist. It's super easy to use thanks to the simple interface and modern design.

You are able to synchronize with other family members/friends to see real time updates whenever someone makes changes to a list or item. Cool, right?

The app allows you to schedule reminders for the future so you can get a nice notification on your phone anytime you want 😉

You can also customize lists, sort items alphabetically and share a list as text on WhatsApp, Email etc.

Got you interested? Download Decolist from Play Store right away: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.decosoft.shoppinglist

I would also appreciate if you can write a review there :) Thank you for your attention!

app to restore SMS/MMS backup without reset?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 12:11 PM PST

    Hi all.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10e running Android 12 (unrooted) that I had to factory reset. I went through the usual setup, and it restored all my usual photos, contacts, etc, but none of my message history. I'm using the normal Google Messages app.

I have a Google One subscription, and have a backup of the SMS and MMS history from before the reset. I can see the backup in my Google Drive under backups, but there is no way to download it.

I spoke to Google One support and, apparently, you can only restore SMS/MMS backups on Pixel devices (https://support.google.com/drive/answer/6305834?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oco=1).

None of the usual 3rd party apps seems to be able to detect my backup. I've tried SMS Backup & Restore, iMyFone D-Back, and Tenorshare UltData.

This is a ridiculous policy on Google's part, but nothing I can do about that. I do not want to factory reset my phone for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. Does anyone know any apps or workarounds that would allow me to restore my message history?

Looking for an launched similar to the one available on the Ayn Odin Pro.

Basically it's an empty launcher that allows to manually add what you want available with larger icons. You can see an example here

I looked in the play store, but most have sparse details about customization option and mostly all just look like stock replacements.

Is there a working remote file browse/download app for Android 12?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 11:04 AM PST

basically that ^ I tried KDE connect but it appears it cant get access to my entire data folder file system due to permissions? it also wont let me select my entire download folder, i have to create a sub folder its got access to, to add to that KDE connect on windows 10 doesn't appear to have a way to actually browse the file system or maybe there's documentation im missing somewhere?

Other apps ive tried seem to be web based and only let you download one file at a time with a save popup for every damn file which is not a user friendly solution.

Is what I want actually possible on modern unrooted android?

All i want to do is to sit at a desktop, browse my downloads, pictures, documents, backups, music, and misc folders created by old apps in the root of the main storage over LAN with out having to plugin via a USB cable and download in bulk.

How to access stored offline GPS data?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 09:27 AM PST

Hi, there's an app which can track and store my GPS data (if I'm on airplane mode it can store the data in my phone and allow me to send/upload it once I have Wi-Fi/mobile data/4g).

How can I access the stored GPS data? I'd like to export it if possible. I've tried to Google around but found no leads.

Looking to live stream video from my phone to my iPad. Any app suggestions?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 07:57 AM PST

I'm looking for an app that will allow me to stream my android phone camera to my iPad. Ideally there would be little or no lag, and it would be in HD, and a clean feed. It doesn't need sound. That two devices will both be on the same wifi network. Are there any apps, security camera apps, camera streaming apps that fit the bill?

I searched for 20 min or so and didn't find anything. Any thoughts?

App to help time parts of my commute

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 06:31 AM PST

I have a commute that involves 4 parts (drive, walk, train, walk). I want to time each part and log it over many days so I can see how long it takes on average, the max, the standard deviation of each part.

Is there a timer app that lets you do something like this? I realize I can use a regular timer app and a spreadsheet but that's clunky.

    TIA.

Anyway to make SD card behave as internal storage?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2022 01:47 AM PST

I cant use SD card in second space in mi note 9 pro because of android 11. For the storage shortage, i was thinking if i can add sd card storage in internal storage and behave both as whole internal storage, then it will be helpful.

Looking for an alarm app that will play a list of songs/mp3 files in sequential order

    Posted: 03 Mar 2022 09:35 PM PST

    Hi,

I've been playing around with the Android Clock app - a concept which I love - since it allows me to play a Spotify or a YouTube music playlist as an alarm. I have created an mp3 file which plays some converted text to speech reminders of my morning rituals - and I have downloaded a meditation mp3 as well.

I have created a Spotify playlist that is meant to work as so:

    1. Meditation file (goes for an hour)
    2. Ritual reminder mp3 (goes for about 45 seconds)
    3. List of random songs to get me energised etc.

I have linked up this Spotify playlist to my alarm and turned off vibrate - so that the phone can start playing the meditation file to prime my subconscious mind and then play the ritual reminders and finally move on to a list of songs to get me energised.

Anyway everything works perfectly except... for some reason - for both YouTube Music and Spotify - the alarm SHUFFLES the playlist - in other words it plays random songs from each playlist - which of course screws up the sequential order that I originally wanted.

This has been very frustrating and I have not been able to find a solution to this as of yet so I was hoping to open a dialogue here to see if anyone can recommend a solution for me. I am happy to use an app that doesn't connect to Spotify/YouTube music and simply plays mp3 files - as long as I can choose the order in which the mp3 files are played.

Anyone that can suggest a solution to my challenge would be doing a great service and your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Monitorering Ios from Android - Family Link

    Posted: 03 Mar 2022 11:50 PM PST

I may be technologically challenged, as I have searched on google without results. My husband and I both have Android (Samsung phone) and use Family Link to administer time limits and in-app purchases on our kid's Android tablet (Also Samsung). For her upcoming birthday, we want to give her an iPhone (better size for a smaller hand), but is it even possible to use Family Link, where the master/parental app in on Android and the child's app is on Ios?

Any app to convert a Web page into epub?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2022 11:25 PM PST

I used the Epub Creator extension on Firefox until the new version removed compatibility with most desktop browser addons.

As I have both a bad eyesight and I prefer to read long articles on my e-ink ereader, I wonder if a standalone app or a virtual printer driver exists that would perform this task. TIA.
