make only specific parts of the OS use dark mode? Posted: 05 Feb 2022 12:29 AM PST I prefer light mode, but the notification shade in 10 and 11 looks really bad in light mode and the colour scheme I am using. Now I would switch to android 12 since I like how it looks, but I still have a lot of issues with it like my phone constantly crashing. Is there a way to make only the notification shade use dark mode? [link] [comments] |
How do I grant access to the ROOT of the external SD Card in Android 12? Posted: 04 Feb 2022 11:54 PM PST I'm trying to grant access to my external SD Card for a file manager in Android 12. But in the root of the SD Card, it says "Can't use this folder. To protect your privacy, choose another folder." It's a file manager - I want it to have access to the entire SD Card. WTF? How do I do this? [link] [comments] |
Will they ever bring back the big lock screen audio controls? Posted: 04 Feb 2022 11:54 PM PST The newest android update has reduced the lock screen audio controls to just a small notification window It's hard to click and often accidentally click skip track. Will they ever bring back the old controls? [link] [comments] |
How to re-enable Android USB debugging after it has been disabled via the notification drawer? Posted: 04 Feb 2022 11:44 PM PST I got my Pixel 6 to debug over USB fine, but accidentally hit the "stop USB debugging" button that appears in the notification drawer while USB debugging, and now I can't figure out how to turn it back on. USB debugging is still enabled in developer options, and I've tried unplugging/replugging the phone. I'm not sure what else to try. [link] [comments] |
Can't use my daughters account on my old phone Posted: 04 Feb 2022 10:40 PM PST So, I don't know if this is the right community as I am not knowledgeable enough about the different subreddits. Sorry if it isn't. Here is my situation: - I created a Google account for my daughter (now 1 year old) - this account is linked to me and my wife via Google family link - my old phone is a Samsung galaxy j6 - I did a factory reset - tried to use her account to log on, but get the 'something went wrong' error - tried with a different account but that works Tried with my account to update the play services first, then remove my own to finish up with adding hers. Didn't work either All this didn't work, obviously since I am posting here, and I have no idea what might work. Disclaimer: I have been trying this for the entire year sporadically, so I may have forgotten to mention some things, for which I apologise. Thanks in advance for everyone thinking about this, even if you don't answer [link] [comments] |
Gesture navigation (v11) app switching Posted: 04 Feb 2022 10:15 PM PST Apologies, I'm sure this issue has been covered. I have an android one, recently upgraded to android 11 and was caught off guard by the gesture navigation. Back is mostly fine (though slower than the button), still trying to adjust to the app switcher swipe from the bottom does anyone have advice? Given it provides more screen real estate I'm guessing this is where the UI will head and don't want to get stuck in old habits (I know I can turn the software buttons back on). Any advice would be helpful ❤️ [link] [comments] |
Best android to film concerts? Posted: 04 Feb 2022 09:48 PM PST I like to attend concerts but the android I have, GalaxyA01, has bad video and sound quality when I record footage at a concert. What should I look for when buying a new phone? [link] [comments] |
Is there any computer software that can force an Android to turn on? Posted: 04 Feb 2022 03:46 PM PST I am trying to get into an old phone that i cannot turn on because it's power button is broken. I have tried all the thing where you hold the volume and plug it into a PC... It does not work. Is there any computer program that can force my android to turn on when I plug it into my PC? Posted: 04 Feb 2022 09:41 PM PST I am beginning the process of separating/divorcing my husband and need to keep him out of two apps on my phone until he moves out. I would prefer just putting a couple of apps in a secure folder vs having security every time i unlock the screen. I read that this is possible by going to settings, biometrics and security, secure folder… but then when I click on under general then apps only about 15 of my apps are appearing. The option at the top to search apps is not helping. 🤷♀️ [link] [comments] |

Kyocera Duraforce Pro 2 will not respond to any touch stimuli Posted: 04 Feb 2022 07:15 PM PST As the title says, the Duraforce Pro 2 suddenly refuses to respond to any haptic feedback. Strangely, the power button DOES work in turning the lock screen on, but I can't seem get the thing to actually restart, no longer how long I hold it. Also, the popup with the emergency, restart, and power off button is already there when I load up the lock screen, yet holding the power button unleashes another copy of said buttons. How do I fix this? Charging also doesn't seem to work aside from the red indicator light. Context: I was using the Omnichan app. I also have Lock Me Out and BlockerX on my phone, could those apps be the culprits? [link] [comments] |
Call Audio Coming out speaker, when not in speaker mode Posted: 04 Feb 2022 03:13 PM PST Howdy, I'm using the Redmi Note 9s, with Mint Mobile as my carrier, and I've recently had my call audio coming out through the speaker, as in, when I call someone, or they call me, instead of it coming out of the earpiece, it comes out the lower speaker. It doesn't happen if I have an earbud in. The caller also can't hear me unless I'm in speaker mode. Thank you for your time. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Feb 2022 06:00 PM PST Quick question, might be stupid, maybe not, but hear me out. I know that a wifi tablet can't use a sim card, but say you used a sim tray for the cellular model in the wifi tablet, would it work? Basically, I am asking if a wifi-only tablet has the components necessary for sim use. [link] [comments] |
Volume lowering to mute during playback Posted: 04 Feb 2022 04:30 PM PST Suddenly my Android 11 phone has started lowering the volume all the way down while playing music or podcasts. I thought it was my Earfun buds but it also does it on speakerphone, locked and unlocked. Totally out of ideas. [link] [comments] |
Samsung Galaxy A11 Won't Recognize My Password Posted: 04 Feb 2022 04:25 PM PST I have a Samsung Galaxy A11, and I usually use my fingerprint for logging into my phone (I usually need to input my password daily though, so I know for a fact I have the correct password) I went to open my phone, mere minutes ago I was on it and it was working fine, and it told me to input my password. I typed in the exact password, and it showed it as the 'wrong' password. I tried re-typing it, and even tried to restart/shut off my phone, but of course, it needed the password. Which it wouldn't recognize. So I went onto the official Samsung Account website, and went to log into my account, but it has 2-FA on, and of course that means I cannot access my phone OR my account, which would let me log into my phone, and disable the password. Is there a fix I can do?? Preferrably one that wouldn't end up deleting my data/files; I have tons of important stuff including documents, photos, etc so I would rather those not getting deleted. Please help!! Thank you :] [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Feb 2022 04:24 PM PST Pixel 5a running Android 12 A while back I messed with some of the "Allow App to display over other apps" settings because I wanted to disable the Google maps navigation pop up instructions. Now my notification bar blacks out the entire screen whenever a new notification pops up or if I pull down the notification bar. In other words, new texts or emails aren't popping up over whatever else is currently on my screen, the entire screen turns black and only the new notification is visible until I swipe to dismiss it. Obviously this is not ideal. I went back into the "Allow apps to display over other apps" permission and changed every single app to "allow" but it didn't fix the issue. I honestly can't remember if there was some other setting I changed but I can't figure it out. Anyone have an answer for this? [link] [comments] |

Google Play Services disappeared Posted: 04 Feb 2022 02:12 AM PST Anyone know how this happened? My Google Play Services disappeared taking with it my app preferences and stuff. Also got a notification that my Samsung session after that ended, don't know if it's relevant. My disabled bloatware got re-enabled and even my airplane mode got reset since I received some messages when this happened. [link] [comments] |
I'm Pretty Sure I have been Hacked... Posted: 04 Feb 2022 12:53 PM PST Hi, So a few months ago I was on the phone with my father and he and I were talking for about 45 mins which is an average phone call for us. Out of nowhere our call was cut off by this really high-pitched noise and then the sound became concerning, it sounded as if bombs were being dropped and people screaming, it was horrifying. I kept listening to it as I was curious and could not believe that what I was hearing was coming from my usual phone call. The noises would be cut in out by white noise but you could hear the screaming, and then it became even more horrifying. A man began to say things I believe in Arabic or a language similar and that's when I was like "hell no" so I hung up the call and tried calling my dad back to see if it would happen again. My dad said he heard the same thing and it creeped him right out. He got mad at me because he thought it was me playing this joke on him. My dad is lowkey superstitious and in turn so am I so it gave us both chills to hear what we would describe the sounds of hell on our phone call. ..... Anyways ever since there I have gotten light tapping sounds while making a call. I have had my phone cut out when I was on the phone with the bank a couple times about card issues as well. I also have had a spam id call me with similar digits as my phone number call me (area code and the next 3 digits always the same). I also have had the phone detect that number as this: V20412355700015 and variations. So can someone who is tech savvy please explain wth I should do. A few other things like a Chinese/Russian hacker used my steam account for a few years also was recently found out and I solved that but I can't seem to figure out how to stop the call problems. Maybe they are related? who knows maybe one of you kind people do? [link] [comments] |
How to enable auto factory reset / wipe phone on wrong pin entry? Posted: 04 Feb 2022 12:26 PM PST I recently bought a Google Pixel and have been looking for a setting to enable auto factory reset to wipe the phone when the pin is entered 10 times incorrectly. Not getting the right search results via Google, so I figured I'd ask the question here. Also I tested a different android phone by entering the wrong pin multiple times and there was no timeout or so by default. I have a vague memory of this being a feature on Android, but I could be wrong. I should add that I am not looking erase my device by logging into my Google account. This is for cases when I have no access to the device nor other devices. Does this feature simply not exist? Was it removed? If the feature does not exist, is there any other way, for example through a 3rd party app, to enable this? Thanks for the help. [link] [comments] |

Best custom ROM option for Samsung Galaxy Tab E (SM-T560) Posted: 04 Feb 2022 11:24 AM PST Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab E (SM-T560), it's pretty old, the android version is still 4.4.4. I want to use it as a study tablet, just for simple things like PDFs edition and reading. I wonder if some of you guys have a recomendation of custom rom that can keep my system lightweight as possible and update the android so I can at least install simple apps like Amazon Kindle and Xodo (a read and editor of PDF)? ps: I'm sorry if there is any english error or anything, it's not my main language and I'm not fluent. Posted: 04 Feb 2022 11:23 AM PST Trying to record some guitar with my phone camera on a Motorola Edge 20. Problem is noise cancellation occurs which makes the sound come and go... How do I remove noise cancellation entirely while recording a video in the standard app? It drives me insane. [link] [comments] |
