Posted: 22 Feb 2022 03:51 PM PST Hello! I have a Windows 11 laptop and the third-party pre-installed antivirus software has expired 2 weeks ago. Is it necessary to subscribe into a third-party antivirus software or Windows Security is enough? I'm using my laptop for:

Disable Taskbar Pop-up with Autohide Posted: 22 Feb 2022 03:26 PM PST When Autohide is turned on for the taskbar is there a way to disable the taskbar from popping up when you hover the mouse at the bottom of the screen. Autohide on windows is basically useless since the moment you go to resize a window at the bottom of the screen the taskbar says "Hello!" Just wondering if there were some registry tweaks on this, my current solution is to use a NIRCMD command with a hotkey to disable my taskbar entirely but I'd rather just disable the mouse hover popup feature. How could I dualboot Windows 10 & XP? Posted: 22 Feb 2022 08:26 AM PST So recently, I bought a physical retail copy of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory & Ghost Recon. However, they do not work on Windows 10. I've been trying for the past couple of hours to install Windows XP on my second hard drive, but it won't let me. Any way to install XP again? (Other than having to use a VM) [link] [comments]
How do I make the calculator app close when I push the dedicated calculator button? Posted: 22 Feb 2022 01:48 PM PST I have a laptop with a dedicated calculator button which is great. Every time I press the button the calculator app pops up, even if there is already a calculator app open. I was wondering if there is a way to make it so it doesn't open up a new calculator but close the one already open. [link] [comments]

Better alternative to Outlook Calendar? Posted: 22 Feb 2022 12:56 PM PST (please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong forum -- but google and reddit searches really haven't turned up anything) Is there a good windows alternative to Outlook's Calendar? (I don't need any outlook features in windows except calendar.) Outlook's calendar features drive me insane. It's astonishingly slow, it interfaces with iCloud poorly, its interface is inscrutable, and it forgets my default calendar displays about once a week. Every day I'm amazed at how terrible Outlook is. And it's ugly, too! I use Fantastical on my mac at home, and on my phone and on my watch. But it isn't available for Windows. Googling "Windows alternatives to outlook calendar" gives a list of outdated/broken/abandoned software links. Anybody out there using something better, or at least less terrible than Outlook for their calendar in Windows? [link] [comments]
The win10 (#️⃣+v) clipboard history is a great feature... buttt Posted: 22 Feb 2022 12:41 PM PST Why does it have to paste itself wherever the insertion point is upon clicking? This feature would almost make me like win10 more than 7 if I could just click the one I wanted, and it move into the active clipboard without pasting it immediately. Instead, it forces itself to paste whenever you click, it still adds it to the clipboard, but why.. oh why.. does it have to paste itself upon click...... Also if it didn't minimize itself whenever I click one, maybe it would be less bad, but it just seems like an idiotic implementation of a great feature. Maybe there is a way around this? If so please help, or share a workaround? Thanks [link] [comments]
So for a few days windows has been correcting my mispelled words Posted: 22 Feb 2022 11:26 AM PST Any idea what is up with that? It never worked like that for me and now all of sudden it just corrects the words for me. It works even when I disable the function in settings [link] [comments]
[HELP] How make part of command return a string variable in Windows Batch? Posted: 22 Feb 2022 09:05 AM PST I want to use the return strings from these commands as string variables in my script: However, without the preceding "OS Name:" and "Registered Owner:". Windows 11 contrast theme issue Posted: 22 Feb 2022 08:55 AM PST Posted in Windows 11 but was immediately removed. IDK why. Anyway: I like the Dusk contrast theme in Windows 11, which makes everything display in a dark color with light blue ribbons. Its easy on the eyes. Helps reduce eye strain, but it makes working in excel very difficult for me. I'm wondering if there's some way to make MS Office programs like excel and Word display like they used to, with white background instead of this dark grey. Perhaps there is a way to override the contrast setting in Office, or maybe there's another way to approach this that I'm not aware of. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
