Legit version of Win 10 Pro?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 02:11 PM PDT

I have been wanting to upgrade my PC to Windows 10 Pro for a long time. Currently have Windows 10 Home that I got years ago. I'm planning on upgrading my PC hardware soon. I have a new motherboard, CPU, CPU cooler, and NVME SSD.

Does anyone know if the Windows 10 Pro being sold on this website is legit?

Any of you still have problems with AMD CPUs on Windows 11?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 11:47 AM PDT

So I started getting WAY into Terraria again and not too long ago i updated to Win 11. Very good experience so far, but since the last update with the AMD "fix", it's gotten worse. Terraria has very frequent frame drops regardless of the settings. At first i thought "okay maybe Chrome is using too much RAM again even if i'm only listening to music". Nope. I'm pretty close to just reinstalling Win 10. Any of you guys still have issues?

    Taskbar / Start Menu Opinion

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 01:43 PM PDT

I don't know if Microsoft reads this sub but i gotta say that after installing Windows 11 i'm incredibly angry at what they did to the Taskbar and the Start Menu, they keep trying to fix things that aren't broken and now they went waaay too far. Windows 10 taskbar+start wasn't great but at least it could be made to look and work more or less like the classic windows, grouping programs on the Start menu was actually something i learned to like. The thing is that they now stripped many features from the taskbar and start menu without adding anything actually useful for a regular user.

I like the way the OS looks in general tbh, it's just the taskbar and start menu that i find like a very big downgrade in every way.

What i'd like to see changed:

    • Ability to group programs on Start Menu
    • Option to ungroup programs on taskbar and make their buttons larger with text instead of just the small icon
    • Size options for taskbar
    • Option to make system tray icons always visible (it's ridiculous having to toggle them on or off individually)
    • Ability to drag a program's icon into the taskbar
    • Option to open the task manager by right clicking the taskbar
    • Ability to add programs to the Start Menu and group them
    • Option to remove the "Recommended" section
    • ...Basically just an option to make it all work just like in windows 10

If i wanted an oversimplified OS's with almost no customization i'd buy a MAC.... anyway that's just my opinion, or rant if you want to call it that 😊

Software to blur screen in Windows?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 12:49 PM PDT

I'm looking for a program to make everything on one screen just slightly blurry. Not as a screensaver, I'm actually connecting my computer to a 1959 TV set and the HDMI to RF modulator I'm using messes up audio when there are contrasty things on screen and I don't want to hear demonic screeches all the time.

    Software price question

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 12:54 PM PDT

I am about to uninstall Win11 (battery drain). I want to know how long I will have the option to install it for free (because I like it).

My question is: For how long will the Win11 upgrade be free?

    WSL2 and shared partitions

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 06:38 AM PDT

Now that the WSL2 supports mounting ext4 partitions, does this mean it's feasible to share an ext4 data partition between Windows and Linux if you're dual-booting?

    Windows Hello - quick/stupid question

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 08:12 AM PDT

    Hi folks,

When you setup Windows Hello in a business environment. Is there the option to only have biometrics and no PIN... or is the PIN always necessary with biometrics as a plus.

Basically, do you have to use a PIN, or can you get rid of this somehow with just face/fingerprint recog.

    kind regards,

    Travis

    Questions about Windows 10 Education

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 09:18 AM PDT

So, I didn't know any better and bought a Windows 10 key from an online seller last year. Yesterday I found out that it is a Win 10 education licence.

What should I do about it? Is there any possibility of future problem?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

With gamebar and things like that and pc gaming in general picking up. It seems like an oversight.

I bought an ssd and installed windows over, without formatting disk d before, and the windows folder is still there, but I only boot from disk C, so it's safe to delete the windows folder in disk D to get more storage space, since I don't use it?
