    Laptop for gaming and university?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 11:12 AM PDT

I want to get a laptop for my gaming and uni needs and currently am fixated on the Lenovo Legion 5 (5800H, RTX 3060)
I mostly play single player games and a bit of Call of Duty and Battlefield multiplayer. I'll need the laptop for coding and media consumption too. Slight video and photo editing once in a while.

    1. Is it a good deal at £1199?
    2. How long will the 80w battery last on integrated graphics?
    3. Should I use a cooling pad with it?
    4. How future proof is this machine?

A question concering Lenovo slim 7 pro.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 01:00 PM PDT

Hello laptoper! I would love to buy yoga slim 7 pro, 5800H, 14 inch, however i havent noticed the OLED part in the screen description. The thing is, this is the only store in my country with ryzen chip and 1t sd card, so i was basically totally set to buy it.

I allready googled the outcomes for OLED screens, the burn-in, and peope are generaly scared of buying such a screen.

Therefore i am looking for an answer on the question about screen replacment options in about 4-5 years when the oled sreen will probably show its downsides. Do You think it will be widly available and at a price bellow 200€?

What do you think of the price of this laptop: Europe, Slovenia.

Thank you for all of your help!

    Best laptops for learning A+

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 12:54 PM PDT

Hey y'all I'm trying to get my COMPTIA a+ certification. Just to let you guys know I am 100 percent new to the IT field. I was wondering, since learning the hardware is a part of the exam, should I buy a really cheap laptop and take it apart so I know how everything works? If so, which laptop should I get? But if you guys don't think it's necessary I won't do it. I just figured hands on training is always good.

Found a used $200 Laptop for light gaming - is it enough?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 06:35 AM PDT

    Hi y'all, I'm going to buy a used 2017 Dell Latitude 7480 Laptop (14" Screen, i5 7300 cpu @ 2.60Ghz 2.71 Ghz, 16gb ram, 512gb SSD, Windows 10)

Is this well worth $200? I'm looking for a general upgrade to my laptop from 2011. And second, this laptop meets the min requirements for the new AOE4 (the min req is a i5 5300 and 8gb ram), but I'm not a big computer guru - so even tho it meets the minimum, will it run like crap on this laptop?

Which 2 in 1 convertibles/laptop have palm rejection?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 12:26 PM PDT

There are some laptops where you can disable the touchscreen, thus the screen does not react to your palm, but I don't mean this.

There are other cases where screen doesn't react to your hand, if the tip of your stylus touches the screen before your palm does. but this is not ideal.

Suggestions for a laptop that can handle design/office work?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 03:55 AM PDT

    Hey all!

Been looking to help my younger sister out with getting herself a laptop for work. I recently upgraded my setup, but I build my PCs for gaming and she's not into something like that...

I also got my ex-SO a laptop a while back and was very let down by the fact that most smaller ones are built like "tablets" and their quality even feels like "tablet" grade. So I really need some solid suggestions here.

    Now, my sister works with:

    • MS office suite (duh)
    • Photoshop (often)
    • AutoCAD (often)
    • Indesign (often)
    • Sketch Up (often)
    • 3DS Max (light work)
    • Illustrator (some work)

Any suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks!

Best alternative to a Surface Laptop 4?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 06:54 AM PDT

I love the Surface Laptop's screen ratio, much preferring 3:2 or 4:3 to the more common widescreens. Even 16:10 just doesn't do it for me. I would love to buy a Surface Laptop 4 but I dislike the proprietary charger and lack of support for Thunderbolt. Last time I got around this buy picking up a Huawei Matebook X Pro, which is an excellent computer. Unfortunately you can't get Huawei in the USA now.

Can anyone suggest a great alternative (available in USA) that has the nice form factor and high quality, but without the ports issue? I don't even mind if it only has USB-C ports, I can use dongles.

MSI laptops any good? Looking at the Summit 13.4" Or Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro 14" at Costco

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 08:58 AM PDT

I know they make decent motherboards but noticed they also make laptops. Shopping Costco and they have this guy for $1299 which is way more powerful than I need but specs are good.

    MSI Summit 13.4" Touchscreen Intel Evo Platform Laptop - 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1195G7 - 1920 x 1200 FHD+ Display - 16gb - 512gb, Black.

    Other option which I originally looked at Costco was the $1199 Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro 14" Touchscreen Intel Evo Platform Laptop - 11th Gen Intel Core i7-11370H - 2880 x 1800 - 16gb - 1tb Windows 11

Asus rog strix scar 15 poor touchpad sensitivity (as if it's jelly)

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 08:41 AM PDT

Asus rog strix scar 15 has poor touchpad sensitivity (as if it's jelly).

Sometimes it's work properly, with accuracy response, but 80% of the time it doesn't work correctly (like in jelly).

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Zephyrus G15 with RTX 3050

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 04:18 AM PDT

I'm planning to buy the Zephyrus G15 ryzen 9 5900Hs RTX 3050 16Gb ram comes with 144Hz Full HD panel. I'm curious about the color accuracy and the brightness of the full hd panel compared to the 2.5K panel on higher version because the higher version has the fantastic color gamut and around 350-400 nits. Thanks for reading my post.
