How do I undo this change in Android 12?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 04:43 PM PDT

When I swipe down, instead of having six convenient icons corresponding to various helpful features (Wifi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb, battery saver, screen rotation, and flashlight), I have four giant, inconvenient bubbles (one of which is GPay which I don't use). How do I fix it? I am fully willing to revert to a previous version of Android if necessary

    Thanks, Trevor

Are there any newer phones with 16:9(or close) aspect ratio?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 10:04 PM PDT

I like to read comics on my phone and the newer skinny phones kinda suck for that.

How do I go back to android 11?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 08:34 PM PDT

I just can't with android 12. It's just dogshit, and I want to go back. However, I need to keep my google authenticator information, and would prefer to keep everything else. Is there any way to go back without losing data? I'm willing to root if needed.

Offline voice control of Android phone?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 04:42 PM PDT

Motorola moto g30, Android 11 up to date. Installed Google app Voice Access from the Play Store, but it does not work offline.

Is there an app that enables simple voice control ("turn volume up", for example) when there is no connection?

The word offline only appears once in https://support.google.com/accessibility/android/answer/6151848?hl=en

Recommended: Check that you've downloaded a language for offline speech recognition. In the Google app, go to Settings and then Voice. Learn how to change Google app settings.

First problem is, there is no "Voice" under Settings, just accessibility and then "Voice Access " and then "Settings", under which there is nothing about offline. My system language is English and my input language is English. As far as I know everything should be English.

A similar issue occurs in article https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/turn-on-voice-access-hands-free-android-experience which mentions Android 11 and

If you have Android 11, Voice Access now works offline

    but also

You must also have "Ok Google" detection enabled in the Google app. Open the app, go to Settings > Voice > Voice Match, and turn on Hey Google. Next, you must have a language set up for offline speech recognition. To do this in the Google app, go to Settings > Voice > Offline Speech Recognition and make sure your native language is listed.

"OK Google" is set up, it works online. Offline Google assistant responds to the spoken words "Hey Google" with a message saying it must be online.

In short how do disabled people manage to use Voice Access when there's no connection? I must be missing something because 29 years ago my old Nokia cell phone could do simple stuff like recognise names to call!

    Wallpapers

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 09:50 PM PDT

So I changed the look of my phone and I have found a decent moving wallpaper but I'm not super happy with it. I've looked all over the Google Play store and the the internet in general but I haven't found anything that I've really wanted. Does anyone know where I could find good video wallpapers (preferably minimalistic ones containing mostly darker colors)?

Is formating /system when flashing new ROM not needed anymore?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 08:36 PM PDT

I follow the installation instruction and found out that in section Installing LineageOS from recovery they say to delete Format data / factory reset but not /system, so is there no need to format /system when flashing a new ROM anymote?

Disclaimer : I'm using LineageOS Recovery here, cause there's no official TWRP supported for my device

Android Service battery drain - zTE Gran View X 4 tab

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 07:48 PM PDT

So i've got this ZTE tablet, it's less than a year old I only use it for streaming services. I'm now getting terrible standby battery life, like drains down to less than 10% after 2 days with no usage. The tablet is running Android 10. When I go into battery usage it shows "Android Service" using anywhere from 30% to 37% at all times. No other apps are using more than 2%. Any ideas on how to fix this? I can't find anything online about it. This is my first Android device so not sure what I can do to solve this problem - e.g. updating the OS not from ZTE, etc.

Why is my Do Not Disturb schedule not working

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 07:39 PM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I just got the Pixel 6 Pro and one issue I've noticed with it and Android 12 is that my Do Not Disturb schedules do not take effect when they are scheduled to. I have 2 different schedules. One for the weekend and one for the work nights. Both are turned on and have an alarm override in the morning.

Today, I checked my phone at 10:30 PM and DnD was not on, despite my schedule saying it should start at 10 PM. I ended up having to switch to some Tasker profiles, which seem to work much better. That said, I'd like to use the native solution... As long as it works.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening? Is it just a bug with Pixels on Android 12? Maybe I'm doing something incorrectly. I'm coming from a OnePlus 7 Pro where it seemed to work there.

    Thanks in advance!

Android 12; Time / Weather widget permanently pinned to top left of home screen

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 06:15 PM PDT

I guess it's the At A Glance default widget. It formerly immutably appeared in the top middle of my home screen. I am annoyed by the fact that it's too small and off center.

I can alter it's settings to remove weather and other stuff but the date and time are always there.

If I add one of the larger versions of the At A Glance widget, then I have two on my home screen, great.

Anybody else dealing with this? Is there a fix?

Google Messages / Android 12: Quick Reply With Screen Lock?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 05:59 PM PDT

    Hey all,

I thought it used to be an option that you could reply to a message from your notification window while the phone was locked. Unfortunately my device forces me to unlock the phone before responding to the message. Is there a way to make it so that you don't have to unlock your phone to respond?

    Thanks!

Digital well-being screen on time and battery stats screen on time is different. Which one is accurate?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 05:05 PM PDT

Getting screen on time is annoying now because it does 24 hours, but adding up the values for the current day still does not match what I see in the digital well-being (generally the digital well-being number is lower). Which one is accurate? What are they measuring by?

How long will the Moto x4 be supported?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 04:34 PM PDT

Trying to decide if I should go through the trouble of sending my X4 for repairs or just buy a new phone because my X4 is at, or close to, the end of its support life cycle. I bought the 32GB Moto X4 in the US in 2018. Is it still being supported, and if so, for how long?

Pull down menu transparency (lost in android 12?)

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 08:22 AM PDT

Have a Pixel 4 XL, just updated from Android 1q to 12. The pull down menu to show notifications used to be transparent so I could see what was happening in the app behind it, but now it is opaque. Is there a way to regain transparency? I'd like to check notifications while keeping an eye on any changing activity of the currently running app...

Need help with SW REV CHECK FAIL(Bootloader) I'm completely lost

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 03:17 PM PDT

I was doing a custom ROM installation with somebody who was guiding me through it, after installing it successfully, I encountered a boot loop, he told me how to get back to the normal software by getting the BL, AP, CP and CSC files and using ODIN manager to get me back, but I'm getting the error "SW REV. Check fail(Bootloader) device: 16 binary: 1"

If anyone could please help me out, it'd be really appreciated it, these last 5 literal hours have been hell and r/techsupport didn't get any responses.

    Thank you.

    Self text?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 11:28 AM PDT

My wife received a text from herself that she never sent and it's an old Bitmoji I no longer use from years ago in one message followed immediately by "??" in the next message. A quick google stated that it could be a spoofed number by someone who knows us somehow, but using the bitmoji would mean they know that we have used it in the past. Alternatively, I thought maybe Bitmoji was just trying to get themselves in her thoughts so they sent a bitmoji to her messages from herself, but I've never experienced this nor do I think that'd be a smart way to conduct business.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could have caused this aside from those I listed above?

    Help with samsung A51

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 02:38 PM PDT

I couldnt find any place to seek help so if im at the wrong place here please tell me.

After using an app for my parttime job (that i used before) my phone suddenly rebooted. This happened twice in a row, and after the second time my phone kept restarting over. After displaying the samsung logo the screen goes black for a second before booting again. Force restart does not fix this, and as i cant interrupt the restarting loop i can't boot my phone into safe mode to delete the app. Is there a fix for this?

    Files by Google duplicates

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 02:33 PM PDT

Is is safe to delete the duplicates that Files finds? For ex, it found 100's of dup jpg's that are used as mp3 album art. Is it safe to delete the dup's? I thought each one is saved with the mp3 file.
