Android is geting exciting again and we should thank samsung Posted: 29 Oct 2021 12:42 AM PDT [Also posted in /r/Android] Something i still see in threads and general disussion on twitter and reddit is that samsung is still seen as the "brand" that is popular but not good with enthusiasts with a buggy UI. But i beg to differ. I think samsung has become the leading player when it comes to software as well as hardware. Lately over the past few years we have seen samsung creating Foldables, reviwing wearos, Listening closely to feedback (like with the evolution of the folds), Keep making android tablets more interesting to use despite androids tablet limitations (like dex mode), Promising longer and better software support (which other companies started to copy), Making their UI less features but more functional, Actually starting to give Qualcomm some much needed competition, Making some insanly good headphones that doesnt need to cost over 150€, basically the only brand that is matching apple in its ecosystem and best of all working closely with google to make Android better. We see this close relationship with google with Android 12L which is optimized for android tablets and foldables a category that would basically be dead without samsung continuing to invest into the market despite apples insanely popular Ipads. Due to these achievements we see other brands trying much more to rival samsung with promises of software support, foldables from xiaomi and huawei, Android 12L focuses on bigger form factors, google tensor, Oppos own silicon and so on. The android space is heating up and we owe it all to samsung and their focus on delivering better and more efficient technology to the masses. And with their ONE UI 4 almost ready to ship which is only like a month from when google shipped theirs. I would say samsung has become the brand that enthusiast should invest in if they want the best of android. [link] [comments] |

How come when I turn it all the way down and then I do what I'm doing on my phone and lock my screen, then I go to unlock my screen and the brightness is not all the way down anymore and it's shining in my fucking eyes again. Posted: 28 Oct 2021 12:46 PM PDT To preface this, I have exclusively purchased Samsung phones at least since the galaxy note 4 and possibly before that, I just seriously can't remember.i upgraded every 2 years, had the note 4, S6,S8,S10. Then came this year. The S21 was wholly uninteresting to me. So I decided to try something different and went with Galaxy ZFlip 5G. I purchased it in Feb. The 3 months were great, fun form factor, folding phone blew everyone's mind, it was great. Then the dead pixels in the hinge started. Then the lime green line from the hinge. And I was lazy and didn't want to pay the $100 bucks for the screen repair. Then outside notification stopped working. Then I dropped the phone and cracked outside of it voiding the warranty. Then the software update that caused the phone to reboot regularly 6 to 8 times a day for no reason. I could be on the phone, texting, listening to a podcast, and bam! Phone reboots itself. So I went to at&t who send me to samsung who assure me that even though I dropped my phone and cracked it, that I can get it fixed as it's under warranty. Go to an Ifix it store who says the warranty is voided. Make an insurance claim(I always have phone insurance). Replacement device has the same issue. Get it replaced and this time remembered not to update the software. The phone is fine. Get a prompt to update, forget about the issue and update. Phone starts rebooting again. Asurion(the insurance company) won't replace because it's past 30 days, sends me to AT&T. At&t sends me to samsung(this was a back and forth blame shift that took 1 1/2 hours) then I am transfered to 6 different Samsung representatives (all but the last were ESL which is fine, lord knows I don't speak a second language so no judgment, but it lead to communication issues and repeating myself many times). Finally the last representative tells me that all they can do is send me a box and I can send my phone leaving me without a cell phone for 2 weeks! Who has that luxury to be without a phone for that long with no loaner? So I'm gonna switch to the Google pixel and never look back at a company for which I thoroughly loved their devices. Samsung TV, fridge, watch, buds. Peace out. Tl:DR galaxy z flip 5G has a buggy software update that reboots phone, got 2 replacements with same issue, only option, send the phone in and be without for 2 weeks. [link] [comments] |

5 weeks in and I still don't have a working fridge yet. Posted: 28 Oct 2021 05:57 PM PDT Story goes back to 9/23 when I discover my Samsung fridge is completely dead, not cooling or freezing anything. So decided to contact Samsung about warranty repair as it is still within 5 year warranty for sealed system. So every goes well, UBIF setup my initial appointment on 9/29. But I figured, hey let me call them to see if there is any earlier appointment I can take and was able to move my appointment to 9/28. 9/28 - get a phone call from UBIF by Asurion, informing that they didn't get the parts have to reschedule my appointment to later time. Ok, I said. Moved it to 9/30 9/30 - No one shows up for the appointment (9-1PM). I have to keep calling UBIF back serval times to find out what was going on. Was told that technician found out they got a damaged part, have to reorder it. Again have to reschedule my appointment. New appointment on 10/6 10/5 - Got a phone call telling me that UBIF has not received the part yet. and Samsung has not shipped the part yet. have to move my appointment to 10/7. 10/7 - called UBIF serval time again, was told that they have not gotten the part still and Samsung probably did not ship the part. So moving my appointment once again to 10/11. 10/8 - called UBIF to confirm if they get the part yet. Rep told me they actually got the part on 10/6, but the system was not updated to know they already have the part and rest assure they will come on 10/11 to fix my fridge. 10/11 - got a phone call from UBIF once again. was told that technician is running late on schedule and will not make it to my place for the appointment asking to reschedule my appointment again to 10/13. 10/13 - Finally, the senior tech (whom according to UBIF is the only one for entire Long Island East and West region who is certified to repair sealed system). After the technician run through diagnostics. He determined it is the Inverter Board issue (error code on the fridge points to compressor lock), but he does not have the inverter board and the compressor is the only part he got for this job. (I was like you guys were telling me that you guys were waiting on multiple parts). So he has to put in an order for inverter board and come back next week. New appointment 10/19. 10/19 - Got a phone call from UBIF, telling me that the technician got involve with an accident. He cannot make it to my appointment. So I have to reschedule my appointment to 10/20. 10/20 - Got a phone call from UBIF saying that technician don't have a van to come. rescheduled to 10/21 10/21 - Got another phone call from UBIF saying that technician has a faulted van, he cannot start the van. So have to reschedule my appointment again to 10/25. 10/25 - after waiting through appointment slot (1-5) and no one show up. I decided to give UBIF a call. The rep who picked up told me that someone was a my house 10AM today and no one is home. They also tried to call me, no one answer. Man I was like stop lying, I did not have any phone call today, and no missing call either. And if you claim your technician was here 10AM, you are lying, I have video recordings showing no one at my front door around 10AM, and I have entire family in the house to hear that doorbell you said your technician supposedly rang. Well again, moved my appointment to 10/27. 10/27 - got a phone call again from UBIF informing that they cannot find the control board. I was like I don't need control board, I need inverter board. Then he corrects himself saying he meant inverter board. and he asked if he can just overnight the inverter board to my place directly and come back tomorrow to do the repair. I was like what the heck man, you should have that inverter board a week ago, why is it missing and how could it be missing. Have not yet reschedule, because was told next available appointment will be 11/1. Region supervisor contacted me about it. Apparently the technician "found" the inverter board and told his boss that I refused him to come to do the repair because of his attitude. I was like what the heck, I didn't say anything about don't come to fix the fridge, I was frustrated about the entire situation for sure, but I have no issue with his attitude. Also, technician didn't get involved in an accident, it just his van broken down and it is leaking gas (according to the region supervisor). Somehow that got miscommunicated with the call center and it became the story that the technician got involved with an accident. So the senior technician shows up on 11/27 and replaced inverter board. But the fridge is still not working. He left the power cord unplugged, but reported as it is fixed and I should leave it power on for 24 hours. But the thing is, this thing is still not working I can hear that compressor is not functioning at all even after the inverter board replacement. I had to called Samsung again to reopen the ticket as this damn fridge is not fixed. Now that I have to wait on new appointment, new replacement parts. At least the supervisor is very helpful in guiding this through right now. There is still hope. TBC... [link] [comments] |

Samsung sold me a broken S21 but won’t replace it Posted: 28 Oct 2021 10:43 AM PDT Samsung might have the worst customer service. 1st week after I received the phone I started having problems, phone kept restarting itself. Apps kept crashing. First I did was to factory reset the phone. This seemed like it helped for a few weeks. After about a month I started having problems again. Apps crashing, phone restarting, camera taking photos with a line in the middle of them. Wi-Fi dropping. First I talked to them on the phone, they said it must be the google services issue and they tried to direct me to change some setttings on the phone. I did that but the next day same shit. I called them again they remotely connected my phone and tried to fix it. This is also didn't fix the issues. When all this shit was happening I was dealing with my mom's Health issues so I couldn't bring it to a Samsung shop. Samsung didn't advise me to do that either. But eventually I brought it to the best Samsung store in Turkey. They put new software on the phone and gave the phone back to me. Next day things gotten worse to the point no apps would open so I brought it back to same store. They took the phone and sent it to service. After a few days service called me and told me that motherboard is failed but they can't replace the phone because somebody put a SIM card in it 8 months ago. They can only replace it within 6 month period. Well the thing is I bought the phone brand new sealed 2 months ago from a Samsung approved supplier! I have an invoice! Samsung confirmed that I didn't have the phone prior to August and either they had the phone or their supplier had it but can't tell who had it. It is a damn joke. Why should I care though since I only had it for two months? During all this time I have gotten calls from multiple different customer service reps and all not informed about the process. They still have my phone and only offering the fix it while they definitely must replace it. One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. [link] [comments] |
