I've been using a OnePlus 8T 8/128 for the last 7 months and I'm completely fed up...

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 08:16 AM PDT

Fed up with how stable the phone has been. There are very minor bugs and glitches which I may see once in a month or so. I've been on open beta this whole time and and came back to stable a couple of days ago since the open beta for 11 has ended.

The cameras are not up there, but I use a well supported Google Camera in tandem with the stock pro mode. And if I'm posting photographs on social media, I'll use Lightroom/Snapseed/VSCO or some other dedicated image processing tools because they exist for a reason.

The battery life and charging experience has been great.

I don't usually game on my phone, but use my phone as a supporting tool for life management and productivity, which is going excellent. As an in-depth user, or if I may use the term "poweruser", I can rely on the phone to work whenever I want it to and it'll "just work" (shamelessly quoting Apple). I'm also connected with my Windows computer through KDE Connect and SMB 2.0 protocols so I have a little 'ecosystem' of my own which goes further than that of a Samsung device with official support for "Microsoft's Your Phone" and can somewhat rival Apple's internal ecosystem.

Once every 2-3 weeks, I'll fire up SD Maid with root permissions and clean up unnecessary stuff that no longer need to be there. I take care of my phone and it returns the favor.

The very easy bootloader unlocking procedure allowed me to have root, so I can go all out with customization if I want to. Also, I have the option to switch to a custom rom if I require immediate security updates or for when the phone goes into EOL phase.

There, a positive post about the phone.
I don't give a shit about OnePlus as a brand, the merging of Oxygen os with ColorOS or yada yada. Brand loyalty is stupid. I just like the phone I have in hand right now. I bought the 8T because the snapdragon variant of the S20 FE wasn't available in my country, and it doesn't seem like I've made a bad choice. It was a well informed choice based upon facts and previous experience rather than hype, and I don't feel bad about it at all. My next phone can be from a different company or it can be a OnePlus, considering the price to value ratio.

OnePlus 8 Pro 5G Support on US Carriers

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 08:23 PM PDT

I have a OnePlus 8 Pro (IN2025) currently on AT&T. Due to problems with ATT only whitelisting certain devices and other phones not allowed on AT&Ts network once they shut down 3G, I am considering switching to a other carrier.

What carriers work with the IN2025 5G? I believe this device won't support mmWave on any carriers, but what about low-band? On paper it supports a 3 major carriers, but doesn't work with ATT, and I'm unsure about Verizon, while it looks like it might work fine with TMobile. I'm also curious anyone's experience with other carriers using one of the major 3s networks.

OnePlus 7 pro to 9 pro

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 06:29 PM PDT

I'm seeking for some honest thoughts on if anyone thinks it's worth getting a OnePlus 9 Pro. I currently have the 7 pro and while I do love this phone I have some serious screen burn in showing and wondering if the jump is worth it or to wait for the next OnePlus phone.

The whole world is not American

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 12:27 AM PDT

Why is there always an notice at the update where they say that during installation, you cannot use your phone at all.. not even to dial 9-1-1.

From what I know, almost every other country uses 112 as the emergency number.. how/why do they not account for that in these messages?

Edit: almost every country near me, I'm from europe.

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 05:15 PM PDT

So excited, ordering my Oneplus 8 Pro on Thursday, decided to order a DBrand case with the teardown skin. And it will get delivered before my phone, so i instantly have a nice case for the phone. Despite the negativity in this sub, I decided to take the leap that i have been wanting to take for years now. By the end of the week, i will finally have a Oneplus!

I went from using iPhone 12 Pro Max to Oneplus 7t Pro and I dont regret it one bit

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 12:13 PM PDT

I have had 7t pro about 2 years ago and was really satisfied. However about 1,5 years ago I decided to switch to iPhone for the ecosystem and bought myself an iphone x.

When the iPhone 12 pro max get released , my boss bought it for me as a company phone and I have used it for about 7 months.

Since I needed to test some software, I decided to buy myself an android phone , and what better than the 7t pro i was really satisfied with 2 years before. I found a 7t pro, with a cracked screen ( couple small lines on the top left edge ) and in perfect working condition for 120€.

I started using it and realised that this 100€ phone isnt that much worse than 1200€ iphone. After several days I decided to use the 7t pro as my daily driver and it has been amazing. I experienced no bugs, the phone works smooth af, I use gcam and its comparable to 12 pro max, not when it comes to video but regular photos are comparable... After about a month I was so amazed and satisfied with the 7t pro that I gave back my iphone. Crazy I know. Cant believe I am happier with a 100€ phone than with a 1200€ machine of a phone. The phone is definitely a bang for the buck, even if you pay 300€ which is standard price here in germany for a used and great condition 7t pro. For those 300€ you can buy either 7t pro or iphone x , and 7t pro beats it by a mile.

7t Pro is not better than 12 pro max, it would be like comparing apples and oranges, but its an amazing phone and I dont regret downgrading. The updates are a bit slow thats for sure, but that doenst bother me much.

I know oneplus has a bad rep, but I have always been satisfied with their phones, just as I am now

Galaxy buds+ with OnePlus 7 pro

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 07:33 PM PDT

I'm looking to get the galaxy buds+ for use with my op7 pro. I've read some reports of call quality issues when using the buds+ with OnePlus devices. Have those issues been resolved? Can any current user of galaxy buds+ here confirm how calls and such work?

Another concern I have is regarding the connection time. How long do buds take to connect to OnePlus phones after initial paring?

If anyone with experience using the two together could comment on these, it would be a great help. Thanks.

OnePlus 6t no longer takes a charge... Fix or replace?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 04:57 PM PDT

My OnePlus 6t is be coming increasingly difficult to charge, and requires just the right cable and the right angle. The smallest slip and it will stop charging. How difficult would it be to just replace the port and flex cable? I know it's so etching I could do, but am unsure as to whether it's worth it or not. Could somebody point me in the right direction? TIA

OP6 OOS download on OnePlus.com out of date?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 10:10 AM PDT

So I've been planning to tinker with my OP6 and did the usual check of the OOS zips in case I need to revert. However the latest OOS zip on OnePlus.com/uk is 10.3.9. I'm currently on 10.3.12 (and have had 10.3.11 and 10.3.10 as well).

Does anybody know why they haven't posted the latest zips?

Edit: as an update, I just had a chat with the customer support. Apparently the support team weren't aware of it and have forwarded it on to the concerns team

Replace 7 Pro Battery Cover with McLaren?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 12:18 PM PDT

Heyo, just bought a 7 Pro after a solid 6 years with my OnePlus 3 (great phone). I, being cheap, didn't buy a case yet because I wanted to make sure I liked it. The curved screen thing is giving me anxiety... Even now my hands are getting in way.

Anyways, long story short, the slippery phone fell 6 inches from the bottom locker at a theme park and the back battery cover is now all cracked. Two days into owning... after 6 years of successful owning of my previous OnePlus 3. So, that's kinda annoying.

In my hunt for a new battery cover (since I won't be returning this now - eBay purchase) I thought about maybe buying McClaren battery cover. Has anyone else done this? Would it be a direct perfect fit. The dimensions appear to be the same and from what I can observe, there's nothing different in terms of camera. But before I buy, thought I'd ask the community.

Unfortunately I might be switching to Samsung.

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:07 AM PDT

I own a OnePlus 6 right now. ATT is going to stop supporting this phone soon as they have decided to shut down their 3G network. This forces me to upgrade my phone unless I switch carriers. ATT is sending a free $40 phone as a replacement which I obviously will not use. Apart from how wrong this is on ATT's part, I'm not feeling too bummed out about it as I was wanting to upgrade my phone anyway.

My phone works well for the most part but I do want a camera upgrade. The camera on my phone is good(?) but not as good as the cameras on the new phones these days. But my biggest hang up with this phone and most Android phones in general, is the size. This phone is > 6.2 inches, I believe. Its also wider than most Android phones. I have small hands and it is very hard to handle the phone one handed. Also OnePlus has still not come out with a supported one handed mode. I have tried a 3rd party app to achieve this but it doesn't work as per my expectations. I have used iPhone before and i miss the one handed mode that Apple has. IPhone also comes in smaller sizes. However, I don't want to go back to iPhone so I need a better android alternative.

I found Samsung S20 to be a good candidate for my next phone(although it is one yr old model now) as it's size and camera and basic features are to my liking. Also Samsung has its own one handed mode feature.

I feel bad to let go of my existing phone and leaving the onePlus community. I would return to onePlus if they make a high quality, full specs, mid size phone.

    Edit: Spelling

every 2 to three hours, this Play Games message appears in my notification bar, then vanishes. How to disable this "sync"?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 09:22 AM PDT

    OP9 Pro.

It says it's "syncing progress" hangs for a few seconds, then disappears on its own. I don't even know what the hell it's syncing so much, i'm afraid it could drain the battery faster. i tried even uninstalling the play games app itself and reinstalling but it still does it. Anybody else has encountered this/found a solution? Thanks

Would you get the 8T over the 7T Mclaren for $100 more?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 10:44 AM PDT

They both look similar, but I think the 8T has a 1080 screen vs the 1440... which makes me wonder if the screen is as good as the 7T one?

Nord 2 update changelog missing + no easy automatic software update toggle

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 10:43 AM PDT

I got my OnePlus Nord 2 a few days ago, I'm quite happy with the purchase.

The only thing I'm worried about as of now is that there's absolutely no information about the current software version versus the future update version on the software update tab in the settings. The changelog is completely missing. How will I be able to compare which update version is good or not if this is the case?

Also, there was no toggle anywhere in the general settings to turn off automatic software updates. The toggle for this was in developer options, which I find really odd.

What are your thoughts? Are these oversights, or something which OnePlus is trying to force us to accept? Should I/we be worried?

    Need advice, how to repair

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 01:51 PM PDT

I'm posting for my brother, who doesn't have a Reddit account and broke his OnePlus 7 Pro Nebula Blue phone today. He dropped it and smashed the back. He doesn't want to send it to OnePlus for repairs because it could take a couple weeks to get done, and he is thinking about trying to fix the phone himself. So he wants to buy a replacement back panel and install it himself. He's insisting on having only the official manufacturer part (no knockoffs or even the risk of any), so he won't buy from eBay because he doesn't trust the sellers who say their parts are official and thinks they're all scammers. I suggested he buy a used model of the same phone and swap in the back panel, but he shot down that idea plus every other suggestion I've made. Did I mention that as a replacement, he also wants the exact same back panel he currently has (same color and everything)?

So… how feasible is it for my brother to fix the phone himself? If he gets a part he believes is original, where would he even find one—seeing that he trusts absolutely no eBay sellers and is skeptical of Amazon too? And how tough is it to replace the back panel at home? Tricky or not too difficult? Is his idea of fixing the phone himself dumb, to put it bluntly, and he should just send it to OnePlus for the repair? Honest opinions needed.

He's also on a VERY tight budget. He can't afford to buy a new phone (and insists that this model is the only one he wants, won't even hear of using a different phone).

Case for one plus Nord 2 5g

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 01:12 AM PDT

    Hi all

After 4 years my OP 5 was ready for something new. I bought the one plus Nord 2 5G and I'm looking for a decent wallet case now. However I can't seem to find cases for this phone, only for one plus itself.

Is the size the same between the Nord 2 and the Nord?

    Thanks in advance

    Battery draining like crazy

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 09:37 AM PDT

What could be the cause of this? I use wifi and Spotify and my battery drains like 10% in 30 minutes. If I use YouTube Vanced it does somewhat drain fast but not as bad as Spotify. After 8 hours of YouTube my phone will be at 60% sometimes 70% but 8 hours of spotify it will be at like 50%

Exactly what is causing it to drain this badly? The reason I bought this phone was because of the impressive battery life but this is just annoying
