    HP laptop

    Hello guys,

What do you think about this laptop? It has a pretty decent price and nice spec. I was thinking to buy this laptop for business purposes. But I can't find a model name and there is no review for that. Do you think it supports USB C-type docking station with power delivery? Do you have any other recommendations? I'm not a big fan of HP but the price is good..

HP Newest Business Laptop, 15.6" FHD Touchscreen, Intel Core i7-1165G7 Processor, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD, Webcam, USB-C, Wi-Fi 6, Backlit Keyboard, Fingerprint Reader, Windows 10 Pro, Silver - Newegg.com

    Thank you!

I used a Vacuum to clean my laptop fan for a minute or so. Then I read online vacuums can create static discharge. Should I be worried turning on my laptop?

    Laptop cpu heat

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 12:29 PM PDT

Hi i'm prrtty tech illiterate. My wife bought a infinity gaming W5-10R7S-888 laptop last week. Just to be able to play some games. She downloaded and started playing sims 4 yesterday and i noticed the fans blasting so i checked temperatures. Gpu was low 60s but the cpu maxed at 93 degree c (199f if google converter is correct).

Now i assume this is high. Is there something im doing wrong or should have done after getting the laptop? What are the max temperatures before irreversable damage? Is there a setting i can change to make the fans kick in earlier without leaving it on "boost fan" 100% of the time?

Wifi is stuck on off in Windows for Dell XPS 9350. Faulty wireless adapter?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 11:55 AM PDT

Hey all, hoping someone may be able to offer advice. My Dell 9350 is unable to connect to the internet. Windows shows WIFI is off, and when I try to turn it on it just goes back to off. I have reset windows, and reset to factory BIOS settings to try and resolve without success. Device Manager shows Dell Wireless 1820A as working properly, but also shows an unknown device under Other devices. I am starting to think it may be a wireless adapter failure, as I cannot use a wired iPhone hot spot to get online. Basically my network is completely disabled. Any thoughts or suggestions? This is only 4 years old.

    Laptop download speed is garbage.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 10:42 AM PDT

I have this old dell inspirion that my sister gave me and its the only laptop i have and i cant afford a new one so i make due with the slow load times and boot up but why is the download speed so bad, im currently trying to do a 33mb download and its currently only downloading at 5.9kb/s with an estimated 2hrs remaining and sometimes it will just cancel the download altogether. My internet is definitely not the best due to location but i have a PS4 that i use regularly and it could do this size of download in no time. Just wondering if anyone knows what the problem could be, is it just an old piece of crap computer or is there a solution?

Edit: Its mostly only browser downloads that are like this anything that downloads through an application like steam and stuff is normal.

For 17 inch laptops for productivity, is 16:9 or 16:10 better? I would think 16:10 but then again 16:9 might be good for two apps one app on each side (left/right)?

The long hunt for a laptop...

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 12:38 PM PDT

So I'm looking for a new laptop for my masters at university. I've got a budge of about 500 quid but would prefer to spend less. I need a laptop that can handle multiple tasks and potentially some (free) engineering software (any paid/professional ones would be used on uni computers). I've been looking at laptops with 512 gb ssd, 8gb of RAM and preferably inyel quad core processor. I dont know that much about laptops so any recommendations would be welcomed. I get student discount on acer and some dell so these would also be preferable!!

    Best fan control software?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 12:28 PM PDT

My laptop get real warm when I play demanding games on high graphics. It's not an overheating issue but I just don't like leaving my laptop boiling with no fan on when I leave it. Any software recommendations? All the guides weren't giving results. My CPU is AMD Ryzen 7, 5000 series, if it matters.

How often does Amazon restock their laptops?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 12:14 PM PDT

There are hardly any 2 in 1s that are shipped and sold by Amazon. All the third party ones are way overpriced.

Lenovo Yoga 920 - coil whine when done charging and left plug in

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 11:47 AM PDT

    Hi!

I have bought used Yoga 920 (4K display) and everything is nice expect when it is done charging.

I would like to keep it connected when on my desk to reduce battery usage, but every time it's done charging there is constant coil whine coming from nearby USB port. And the power supply is making those noises too, but much quieter.

It's only when the computer is turn on and turning of display make it a little bit quieter.

It might by a faulty power supply, but I never have seen anything like this.

Any ideas how to fix it?

    Laptop buying advice

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 11:47 AM PDT

I have been working for years on a half broken second hand laptop with good spec.

I'm looking for a new one that'll suit my needs, and hopefully isn't too expensive (ideally under £600).

I have a series x, so don't do a lot of PC gaming - I use my laptop for some online games like halo MCC, and some games which aren't available on console yet. I don't play many hard to run games on PC.

I make music using Ableton, and I stream movies and TV shows.

An SSD would be nice - I have one of them in my work laptop and it makes a world of difference.

In terms of screen resolution, I'm not too bothered. Games I play connected to my TV, so as long as the processor and GPU can output 4k or 1440p onto an external screen I'm happy.

Is my rough budget reasonable for what I'm looking for? Any recommendations?

And is now a good time to be buying? Is the chip shortage inflating laptop prices?

Thanks for any and all help!

Are Razer Laptops Worth The Premium?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 11:47 AM PDT

I'm looking for a laptop and I have a couple options picked out (Forever stuck between a practical productivity based laptop and one that rivals most desktops)

In my research I have stumbled across Razer laptops, specifically the Razer Blade 14 with an RTX 3060. This laptop is priced at $1800, I know I can get an RTX 3060 based laptop for around $1200/$1300. So, does Razer have great build quality? Great customer service? Longevity? Am I simply paying for a well known brand name?

My question is, are Razer laptops worth the premium price they demand or are they overpriced and pale in comparison to cheaper similarly specced systems.

(Build quality and longevity are important to me as a consumer which is why I'm considering paying this premium, because I'm assuming since they cost so much more; yet sell, they must be top of the line. Am I being mislead?)
